The Berks County Stalkers!

Last night as I was setting up for the trunk show with the Under Cover Quilters of Brookhaven, PA ---

I heard this little voice saying “Bonnie ---- Bonnie Hunter --- oh Bonnie HUNTER ---“ And I turned around and it was Andrea!

I was so tickled to see her ---I always enjoy her emails.  She has been a student a number of times, and I last had her in my classroom in Hershey in July.

When she checked my calendar to find where I’d be close next – she found that my visit this week was only an hour away from where she lived, so the Three Stalkers, as they so teasingly call themselves, set out on a short road trip to come surprise me last night.

It always buoys my spirits to see smiling familiar faces in a place I’d never been before.  I instantly felt at home and in good company and we visited and chatted in the time between setting up, and the guild meeting commencing.

Betsy was also with the group, and I was happy to find out that she brought along her kid’s wedding quilt to show me ---a Pineapple Blossom!

Lots of pink and yummy batiks!

What I loved most about it was how every block showcased the signatures and sentiments of friends, family and well-wishers from the wedding ----

Each block holds a personal message to the couple.

What a great idea, full of love and hope for the new couple as they start their lives together!

Rachel and Rudy will be wrapped in the friendship of those who love them best.  A reminder of their vows every day.   I think this is such a great idea for a wedding gift……and it doesn’t have to be given ON the wedding day – the signatures could be collected there, and then the quilt given as a 1st anniversary gift a year later would be really nice.

Group Shot!

It made for a great evening.  They had to skeedaddle right after I finished speaking so I didn’t get a chance to say good-bye, but I hope our paths cross again soon!

Today we are out the door early --- Scrappy Bargello workshop day, and then later this evening another lecture with a different guild in a neighboring town….

Have a great Tuesday, Everyone!

  3. I love the Pineapple quilt. I did one for each of my boys and their wives when they got married. I did a much simpler pattern, Rail Fence, and had all the guests sign the center rail. I pieced and quilted it and did give it to them for their first anniversaries. Oh, and my boys got married 4 mos apart! :)
