Hi, Bonnie. Deboning shirts tonight watching you.
ReplyDeleteYippppeee! Been awhile since I caught you and since I sewed...double Yipppeee!
ReplyDeleteLOL! You are just a little jazzed about today's find! We would have so much fun shopping together.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, just a quick note to say thanks for providing ambition to get things done. I was going to read but I think I will go and sew up some more rows on a quilt I am putting together for my niece's wedding.
ReplyDeletewhere's the arrow to click to watch tonight???
ReplyDeleteif there is ever a problem with viewing -- reboot your computer! I've had to do that when the camera wouldn't register on my end.
Deletethanks for replying, bonnie! i've tried that numerous times, but still can't get in. ??? guess i'm just not supposed to see you tonight. i won't be home tomorrow afternoon, so i'll miss you then, too. :-(
Deletehave a great trip to pennsylvania! :-)
Hi Bonnie, have a quilt going on the frame and being quilted by a digital pattern. Trying to pack for a week in the mountains. The sewing machine and assorted stuff is out in the camper. I guess I need to pack some clothes and toiletries LOL. Liz
ReplyDeleteGlad I caught you tonight Bonnie. Hello from Upstate NY. Quick question, love that small bright light next to your machine... been looking for one... do you know the brand or where you bought it?
ReplyDeleteIt's a task light from Ikea! Love them!
Deleteit's "eat for free" weekend at ikea ☺ spent $100 and the amount you paid in the restaurant will be deducted from the amount you owe at checkout.
DeleteI had a former student pick up two of those Ikea lamps for me last weekend! Got one for home and one for my church Quilting Center. I love it, and they're so reasonably priced!
DeleteShe's cute and sounds really nice! I need to find one of those for myself. I guess I'm going to have to hit the Salvation Army & Goodwill Stores. I'll be looking for sewing machines, small irons and some 100% cotton shirts! And, I can thank you for my list!
ReplyDeleteOkay Bonnie... Follow me here ! You said she is the same color as the Volkswagen Bug. When you say Bug, I think Beetle, which makes me think Bailey, as in the comic strip from the same era as the Blue wizard, so her name will be Bailey to me! ;)
ReplyDeleteTell me more about your IKEA light.... love it
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say hi and wish you a safe to Pennsylvania. Love the new machine.
ReplyDeleteThe woman who said she was your biggest fan a few minutes ago (when I first tuned in) is an imposter. We all know I'M your biggest fan! And I have your quilts to prove it ;)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha!!
DeleteWas warming up for quiltcam with some cutting exercises, 2 in squares when DH said "lets go out snd eat"
ReplyDeleteHi from Erie! Sitting on the LA Nie hand sewing binding tonight! So glad to be having quilt cam time tonight!
ReplyDeleteSpent a couple of hours sewing on my fw-Liz. She was born in 1938 & has a few scratches, but sews pretty well.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the quilt behind you on the frame? LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteThanks! My QM magazine was laying right beside me and I opened it right to your quilt. Think it must be an omen that I'm meant to make it :)
DeleteBonnie- I cant stay but for a minute but I wanted to say that I have loved watching you!
ReplyDeleteTonight I am resting because I have been tackling a very new to me project: Cathedral Windows!
Ya'll have a good night!
Hey Bonnie, funny you ask how machine comes into places like the Salvation Army. A friend volunteers at a local Restore store (funds the Habitat for Humanity building and a gentleman brought in two machines for donation. His wife had passed a way and he wanted them be useful to someone else. My friend brought one home and it works well. It is a Kenmore about 20 years old. It will become her machine to go away as it is lighter than her favourite old Bernina.
ReplyDeleteI just love that these machines have had a life somewhere else, and we are continuing to give them a purpose!
DeleteHi bonnie it's bonnie from va. I'm sewing the backing for my hidden spools quilt while i watch you tonight. Earlier tonight i was watching s connery in docter no (50th anniv). But when i saw you were going to have quilt cam. I had to give him up
ReplyDeleteAhhh... Bonnie-Cam time
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteSpending a quiet Saturday at home here in Australia. It's raining gently so PERFECT sewing weather! Love watching you & and sewing at the same time! I'm appliquing!
Cheers Maree
Hey, Maree from another Maree ☺
DeleteHow do you decide what widths to cut your strips in your scrap system? I'm chopping up some large pieces and get stuck trying to decide on strip widths. I have no project in mind, just organing scraps. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIf I don't know what I"m going to make with them -- I just want some of each. For instance, don't cut the whole thing into a whole lot of 2.5" strips, do a few of each size to build up variety in each size.
DeleteToday I drove home from just north of Philadelphia... Took back roads, wandered through quilt shops, antique stores, etc. What a fun ride! Thought of you often, and seriously considered buying a toy sewing machine @ Sanford and Sons Antiques and Collectibles - quite a place, lol. Quite a ways north of where you'll be, though. It's just outside of Tunkhannock, where tomorrow is the annual Airing of the Quilts. Safe travels - be careful, the leaves in PA are so gorgeous they are almost a distraction.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robin! I'm looking forward to a beautiful Autumn drive!
DeleteBonnie, Love the new machine, I love the blue color....IS the pattern for the blocks you are doing now available to download?
ReplyDeleteNo, it was published in Quiltmaker Magazine a few months back. I don't have a quilt done with it to make it a downloadable pattern yet. I have...ummm...TWO blocks made so far ;c)
DeleteThank you Bonnie, I will have to look thru my magazine stash and see if I have it. If not I will just have to order it then. Thank you again, I loved watching you tonight.
DeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI work from home and am catching up on my work tonight--your on my left monitor, and work is on my right. Most fun I've had to work in a long time.
Nancy in SC (know you from QSC)
Do we have any hints about this years mystery quilt project?
ReplyDeleteI will be posting yardage requirements toward the end of October, and we will start the mystery the Day after Thanksgiving, November 23rd!
DeleteI do wish I could go to Ireland with you. Since June is my birthday month. But alas I don't have the funds to go. But I know you all will have a great time.
ReplyDeleteWeekend after Thanksgiving will be perfect for me to start another project. I'm hoping to be caught up on everything by then.. lol..
DeleteHi, Bonnie -- I'm going to try and open up Quiltcam in one window and mapping software in another. I've got a list of Church and school rummage sales I want to try and hit tomorrow in the hope of finding shirts. Goodwill, Salvation Army and the like tend to charge $3 - 6 a shirt and I can't convince myself that's a good deal.
ReplyDeleteI do have a question. I'm teaching a young girl to quilt. She did great on the piecing, but doesn't really want to do finish the quilting (nothing fancy and I really like what she's done so far). I want her to be able to say she made the quilt, but she wants me to finish it. It's to be a gift for her cousin's first birthday. Should I go ahead and let her talk me into finishing it?
I think she should be there with you, and you two can do it TOGETHER and she will learn the process, even if you are doing much of the sewing :)
DeleteThanks for the advice. After we hit the rummage sales tomorrow we'll do it.
DeleteBonnie, could you go over how to correct the tension? Especially how to correct the lower tension. thanks.
ReplyDeleteCheck this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWajfDxQQwo
DeleteHi Bonnie hope your going to be doing your live cam at the end of the month. I would like to take you with us when I go to quilt retreat, on the shores of Lake Superior and at the foot of the Porcupine Mountains.
ReplyDeleteFun to listen to your machine while you sew. I got my Tension fixed on my featherweight. I took it apart and couldn't get it back in right. My friend helped show me what I did wrong and got it back in place. She showed me how to oil and lube it best. So happy I found one finally. I sewed two of my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Blocks. Lovely stitches.
ReplyDeleteWhat about "Bluebell"
ReplyDeleteWow Bonny, it is so funny, I was just thinking about the expensive machines, I still have my simple one, basic stiches, not even the blanket stitch, that I love a lot!! I am thinking to follow your passion for sewing machines, and start my collection :)
ReplyDeleteBonnie, you were talking about a machine that needed new wiring. I have such a machine. Where would I take it. Our local shop does not do rewiring.
ReplyDeletekitting up some bow ties for my quilt retreat next weekend. I really enjoy spending quilt cam time with you!
ReplyDeletePicked up a little light in Ikea when I was in Calgary last week. I absolutely love it and should have bought two. Life of the led bulb is apparently 20.000 hours. Will outlive me I think Thanks for your suggestion. Going to try to get to Portland in the Spring to see you. It's the closest you've come to Canada which is where I live. Marilyn McKinnon. In beautiful BC
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie: DH is grilling pork chops and then we'll eat (having teriyaki pork chops, fresh green beans, the last from the garden and grilled, sliced eggplant. All with brown rice.) Then I'll start working on a binding I have to sew down.
ReplyDeleteIwouldn 't say faster, working on Re Riding Hood costume
ReplyDeleteit is sweater time here in MI. really not wanting to turn on the furnace just yet. working on weedwhacker glad to have company while sewing tonight.
ReplyDeleteWhat brand of iron are you using? I know I heard you say you pick them up at thrift stores.
ReplyDeleteIt's a GE 3/4 sized iron from the late 70's early 80s.
DeleteI decided to dig out the pattern for Moth in the Window and whip one up with you...I finished my first and already facebooked it! Thanks for letting this AZ girl sew with the fall colors of Wisconsin (where I am from!).
ReplyDeleteYEAH! You are probably going a lot faster than I am!
DeleteHi Bonnie I am joining you on Quiltcam from New Zealand it is 3pm Saturday afternoon here...:O)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! My 2 year old grandson and I are enjoying watching you! Thomas LOVES looking at you "kilt books"!!! He has been playing with scraps of fabric since he was just months old!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie..Just got back from a driving trip from TX..saw a quilt at a Bob Evans Restaurant in Hagerstown MD?? or Bridgeport WV??. Picture on my blog here:
ReplyDeletehttp://onemorequilt.blogspot.com/2012/10/back-homecatchup-time.html
Thought of you.
Also, a quick thought on names..I immediately thought of Blue Bug (VW..you mentioned the popular color)..or Cool Blue...
So glad to be home...2 weeks in a car..but grandkids are worth it!
Sent last message before I had finished!
ReplyDeleteWhat about "Bluebell" as a machine name? She sews beautifully!
Maree in Australia!
Where it's raining (perfect for sewing) and I'm appliquing!
Hi Bonnie. I took a class with Julie Herman today of Jaybird Quilts. We were all talking about you and your blog and quilt cam. We were also saying how much we would love to go to Ireland with you.
ReplyDeleteHi, Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteCan you per chance tell us what the model number is on that Ikea lamp you said was great? Thanks. Gail
I got mine on Amazon.

Ikea Black Jansjo Desk Work Led Lamp Light
The Friday after Thanksgiving is PERFECT for me as I never, ever shop the weekend after Thanksgiving. Traditionally, I stay home and sew/quilt that weekend. PUUUUUURRRRRRRFECT for me!
ReplyDeleteMarylou in Texas
Short on cutting a piece? PIECE the scraps together!
ReplyDeleteTonight my husband bought an IPad so to test it out I jumped on your blog an quilt cam. Pretty cool! How about the name Robin for your new machine?
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that you are starting the mystery the day after Thanksgiving. The perfet excuse to not go Black Friday Shopping. Having the mystery to work on was just the perfect thing to help me get through the holiday season.
ReplyDeleteSue
Upstate Ny
You could also name her Bonnie Blue. I think that was Rhett and Scarlett's daughter's name. And it would include your name. You don't have to always show something new. It is just more fun to sew with someone. Dian
ReplyDeleteSo I will be the third....perfect!!!!
ReplyDeleteperfect! after turkey mystery!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! What's the story on the Bali 2012 wallhanging behind your machine?
ReplyDeleteThat's the piece I batiked in Bali myself -- I don't know what to do with it yet!
DeleteIt's gorgeous! It will eventually speak to you and you'll know exactly what to do. :o)
DeleteBonnie,
ReplyDeleteI am starting to get excited about another great quiltville mystery. Just took the last stitches in the binding of Orca Bay binding last week. Perfect timing! I hoe this year to get it done sooner, but have yet to miss a mystery. Thanks for all you do for us quilters.
I will be ready to sew the day after Thanksgiving if you are!! I love your penchant for vintage sewing machines. I would be too intimidated to shop for those. I was in Des Moines, IA today at the AQS show. Had a great time.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie I am thrilled to learn that the mystery will start the day after Thanksgiving! I think a great name would be Stella like stellar Blue.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I found out the Ikea lamp is not available on their website, only in their store.
ReplyDeleteAmazon.com has it.
DeleteIkea Black Jansjo Desk Work Led Lamp Light
Gotta get tat lamp, thanks for the tips tonight, love everything about quilt cam except for when I lose you cuz of com-breaks B-( Barbie
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks Bnnie, we were still watching and Thomas is still waving at you saying "hi Bonnie...hi!!!" Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteLoved quiltcam tonight. Have to work tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know it snowed here in South Dakota today. Glad you are still having Indian Summer there.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Bonnie, I cannot find that "search" bar above the BlogHer. I must have misunderstood. Thanks. Gail
ReplyDeleteIt's your browser. Try a different browser.
DeleteWhat was tbe little razor tool you got from Walmart and used to rip seams?
ReplyDeleteIts an eyebrow razor type thing..
DeleteIt's called an "eyebrow shaper" and is found in the cosmetics dept at walmart -- where the eyelash curler thingies and other grooming stuff are!
DeleteThanks so much. I'll look for them. Tonight is the first time I caught your webcam and I enjoyef "meeting" you so much. :-)
DeleteLoved the "quilt cam"! First time watching.
ReplyDeleteGale - I got mine from Amazon. Check there too.
ReplyDeleteGrace
Gale - Sorry - I got the Ikea lamp at Amazon. My first comment didn't make sense when I just went back to read it!!
ReplyDeleteI too am excited that you'll be starting the mystery quilt the day after Thanksgiving. I NEVER go out that day. This will be my very first mystery quilt so I'm anxious to do it!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I have a question....how come that clear sewing table fits around whatever machine you are using? You switch out so many machines, and they all fit. Is this something that you had custom-made?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace
GMP, I tried to email you back but you don't have your email address visible in your settings so all I get is "noreply@blogger.com" :((
DeleteCheck http://sewingmates.com It's the sew-adjustable table....I can make it fit most of my machines because it is adjustable.
Thanks for the info., Bonnie. I'll check out the website.
DeleteBonnie, have so enjoyed your quilt cam every time it's on! My DH couldn't see how I preferred it to the debate Wed, but know you and the 1800 other quilters understand it perfectly! I also love the old machines~~today I was sewing strips on my old green machine, it's 15- that DH bought for me in 1959 because I wanted to learn to sew~~best purchase we ever made, perfect to learn to sew on and will still perform like a champ. I use it mostly when I sew denims, etc because it does heavier so well, but using it for strips on thin muslin today just for fun. Do you get on Quilter's Club of America at all? Probably don't have time for it - I really enjoy it, and we are doing one of your patterns as a project for our Scrap Happy Group (have to admit, my idea!) They seem to be enjoying it, we have made several Diamond in a Squares, and some other arrangements - I did String X and the other small one. I talk too much, only when it's about quilting, tho!! Luv ya! Carol in Arkansas
