Quilt Cam --- Moth in a Window Time!
Bow-ties are done --- so I get to reward myself with a bit of Moth in a
Window block sewing!
Besides – the way the basement is currently upside down with the carpet tile
installation, it was the only project I could get to without having to climb
over and under other stuff!
It's been a long day ---including THREE trips to Lowes to get stuff we needed, and this project has just begun.
I'll be sewing for an hour to an hour and a half ----I'd sure love some company!
Are you ready? Bring a project, come hang out!
Some have had problems with the feed, getting audio just fine but no video. If this happens to you, check to make sure that your flash player is up to date.
Click the "pause" button on the viewer, and then click the arrow to restart the feed ---this sometimes works.
Completely shut down and reboot your computer. Try a different browser. I find that I have the best luck with Google Chrome.

YEY! Enjoying the sounds of the surf in the background (we're on vacay)...and YOU here on quilt cam....life is good :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, congratulations on getting the bow tie blocks done, I was beginning to think I was watching re-runs, LOL. Tonight I'll be joining you by stitching the binding on my black and white quilt!
ReplyDeleteLinda
LOVE the new carpet tiles! I think that is the way to go so you can replace the tiles in heavy traffic areas. I just had a new baby come visit and I'm on top of the world with the scent of baby. Holding him was a dream. Life is such a miracle.
ReplyDeletePlease say hi to my Dallas who is watching in Macon, GA. Hope to see him soon. He is your newest, biggest fan!~
Seeing your new background update just FINE! Love it!
DeleteThose plastic containers are great, have been using them also.
s glad to see bow ties done!! working on binding a table topper. Black binding with black thread! Think I need a better light!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you usually start with a plan for a quilt when you start sewing those blocks, or do you just make a bunch and then go from there?
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI'm just sitting here listening to Quilt Cam while I stitch the binding on a lap robe. With the world series on tv stitching with you is just the ticket. Love the new carpet squares.

All is OK here. Love yoyr background.
ReplyDeleteThe new background looks fine to me on Sarfari (Mac). I seem to keep missing your attention about the "New" old ANKER machine I just found, thanks to your bad influence....... Thank you - but I can't find out much about it. Do you know anything?
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie this is Bonnie from Va. Thanks for quilt cam. I am punching hexagons tonight while I am watching you.
ReplyDeleteBonnie
Hi Bonnie! There is no school in central Florida tomorrow for Hurricane Sandy, I am celebrating by finishing the string blocks for my Jamestown Landing quilt. Thanks for the company.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the benefits of fish oil, you get used to the fish burps. Look for one guaranteed to be low in Mercury. And laugh every day, the health benefits are myriad and proven. Lu ya from Texas, Janet
ReplyDeleteYou can get odorless fish oil capsules. So no fishy burps! Lol
DeleteI'm too tired to quilt tonight, but I enjoy seeing you sew.
ReplyDeleteYour blog looks great both with Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Love that quilty background on the sides. Hope you can keep it.
ReplyDeleteUsing Firefox, the borders and text are fine!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie from Kerry here in Melbourne Australia. I'm basteing a small quilt ready for quilting. Great to be sewing along with you. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeletewhats the music playing in your background?
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Quilt Cam using Firefox and everything looks just fine. Did you say the the background was a crazy quilt?
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get a look at the bow tie quilt with it's border?
Hi Bonnie - Great to see you! I'm working on a mystery quilt. Frantically trying to finish it so I can start yours soon! Roll Roll Cotton Boll was my first mystery, and now I'm hooked.
ReplyDeleteI just found Quiltville today! Enjoying tonight's live video and I'm looking forward to sewing with you online sometime soon!!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought...I started ww a year ago and am down 60lbs...so of course we are eating better - BUT sweet hubby still eats pretty much what he wants - his cholesterol dropped 20 points once he started eating oatmeal every morning....that's about all he changed and it helped him. No extra exercise except longarming all day...lol
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteYour blog looks good to me - quilt on either side of the blog text.
Grace from Long Island
I see the new background (love it) -- I am using Internet explorer. I also see it on my Ipad. Internet explorer is just about 3 seconds ahead of the Ipad.
ReplyDeleteI am working on smith mountain morning that I started with you in June. I also want to start some spool blocks so I want to kit up some of those too.
Suzanne on Cape Cod
Hi Bonnie! I sew enjoy watching quilt cam! My grandson Thomas (2)and I are watching, last time I commented that we were watching you said hi to him, he got so excited, he kept coming over to my computer for days saying "hi Bonnie"! I get so inspired watching you sew!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, I'm watching! I shot myself in the foot though.I sold my Ipad, so I can't sew while I watch. Dumb mistake.
ReplyDeleteJo Anna
Hi Bonnie, I am sewing along with you - finally! here in Arizona it is only a little past six o'clock. I am doing four inch courthouse steps blocks- paper pieced. I am sewing on my Singer 301. I have a bunch of antique machines like you but I think I like piecing on this one the best. I like it even better than my featherweight.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Hi Bonnie- I sewed my latest blocks from Randy's sow along. How is your Cheddar Jubilee? Are your blocks up? Can you pan overto them?
ReplyDeletePs: working on my midnight flight! Almost done with the parallelograms
DeleteHi, Bonnie! I am using Safari and your new background is just on the outer edges--I can read the blog without any problem. I've just come up from the basement after cutting 4-patch parts for a double 4 patch quilt. Now will work on some applique while watching webcam tonight. Ann in Virginia
ReplyDeleteYay! My favorite reality show is on! I'm working on Double Delight Mystery and am looking forward to your next mystery project. Would Moth in a Window be a pattern for a top or for borders? Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you turned the cam on, I am working on my granddaughters halloween costume, I designed a spidergirl costume for her, but the crinoline skirt was too big for her 16 inch waist!!
ReplyDeleteBow Ties quilt looks great! I'm servicing my Featherweight while watching QuiltCam tonight. On the issue of cholesterol, I'm in the same boat. Not only can you forget the hush puppies, but also shellfish, any deep fried foods, fatty meats, all the good stuff!
ReplyDeleteListening in from Henderson again!! We about have the tobacco crop all to market so more sewing on the agenda!
ReplyDeletetell that lady that I eat oats every morning too and it is awesome on getting those numbers down! yea!
I just did my 'Bow Tie' Quilt yoga just in time to get a picture before Quilt cam. Love that term you spoke of earlier this week. Glad you made it though to your sewing area. I am Knitting while I listen tonight. My sewing machine isn't close enough to the Computer.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the pattern for the Moth in The Window pieces?
ReplyDeleteCathy / CO (waiting for snow)
Kathy...if you got the pattern, will you email me the directions? I am hard of hearing and don't catch everything that was said.lindabee444@gmail.com
DeleteThe pattern was in Quiltmaker Nov 2011 and is probably up in the FREE patterns section of Quiltville.
DeleteThe Nov 2011 Quiltmaker issue is no longer available. I tried to buy one off the web, and if it's in the free patterns of Quiltville, I couldn't find it. Thanks for responding though. Linda
DeleteIf you refrigerate, or freeze, your fishoil, it DOES help lower cholesterol and NO burps! It is hard to remember to take it, but even once a week is suppose to help (daily is BEST).
ReplyDeleteLucy~
hi bonnie. 2nd time watching again tonight. what is the music playing in the background. i hear you singing along sometimes.
ReplyDeleteLove your new background! Also enjoyed meeting you in Floyd on the 16th. Your enthusiasm for scraps is inspiring. Many of my quilting friends think that making a scrap quilt means you save all your scraps that "match" and turn them into a quilt, which of course is just another planned quilt, isn't it? If you've seen one, you've seen 'em all. Keep doing what you do.
ReplyDeleteJust read that Alycia in Colorado is doing a Quilt of Valor block challenge, using your scrappy trip around the world pattern. (With your permission, of course.) I love that pattern and will be participating. She is requesting blocks for Quilts of Valor...and with Veteran's Day coming up....what a fun way to honor our military. She is good about sharing pictures so I can't wait to see more Bonnie's Trips in Red, white and blue!
ReplyDeleteNikki in VA....who was just watching tv and snacking...now I am sewing and not eating! THANKS for the inspiration.
Oh my gosh the cheddar bow ties looks just beautiful! So glad you're displaying it for us. And I love the new background to your blog.
ReplyDeleteWorking on some table runners tonight.
Ann Mary
What is the name of the Scotch product you were just talking about? I couldn't see it clearly when you held it up.
ReplyDeleteThe paint chip idea is brilliant. I had a hard time telling exactly what your colors were for Roll roll cotton boll as they don't always show up true on the computer.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, have my laptop set up in my sewing room, trying to clear a space through the mess and UFO's so that I can stitch with you.
ReplyDeleteLove to catch your quiltcam when I can. It's about 12.00 noon here in South Australia, a great time to watch for us Aussies.
Suzie
Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteWhen hubby & I did our kitchen tiles when we had to cut around corners and such we used copy paper and made a pattern. Marked the top and then we were able to just turn it over to mark and cut on the bottom of the tile.

ReplyDeleteDid you pick up the square and put it in the canister with the triangles?
ReplyDeleteWas sewing last night and started on string blocks for the border of Tulip Fields-kept saying I was going to bed after this set of squares. Ten sets later (midnight) I finally kept my word! Yawn.... tonight will just clip off the bonus squares from the Tumbleweed components!!! Hope I can see to cut straight!! Yawn....
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! I'm echo quilting on a lap quilt tonight. Thanks for the motivation - I really want to be making a purse but am afraid this quilt will become a UFO. Helps to be quilting along with Bonnie and friends

ReplyDeleteFall back (time change) takes place Sunday November 4.
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember that game. And I've had it as an app on a smart phone, although I don't think I have it right now. (aka, there's an app for that!)
Loving quilt cam off course!
Bonnie - You were just talking about old sewing machines. I love my old 1950's sewing machine, called a "Sew-Mor", and use it all the time. I think it's a Japanese machine. It's 2-tone seafoam green and I learned to sew on it in the 1960's. It still has little numbers my mom stuck on it to help me with the threading order. That machine is SO special to me...such memories.
ReplyDeleteWow -- the bowties are finished ! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a binding tonight -- squared quilt, made binding from backing I cut off, attached, pressed and folded it over .. now it's ready to machine stitch down .. phew !
Hope you don't get too drenched with Sandy coming !
hey Bonnie..greetings from Grande Prairie, Alberta. In the middle of winter...lol this is the first time watching as I just found out about it last night. Thanks so much for doing this quilt cam. I just want to let you know that you are my hero. I can't bear to throw away any scraps either and all of my friends know exactly where they can get rid of it...lol. Have a great evening.
ReplyDeletequilty hugs, Debbie
hahaha.... I hear your phone jingle and think it's mine everytime!
ReplyDeleteits your house Bonnie! I'm happy for your carpet!
ReplyDeleteLook in the box where the purple thingys are! The one that you took with you yesterday.
ReplyDeleteDid you sew it into a block?
ReplyDeleteI am heading to a quilting retreat the weekend of the 11th! Gonna have some fun sewing with 20 ladies from the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum!
ReplyDeleteLove watching your video cams!
Hi Bonnie watching you from not so sunny Australia , it's meant to be spring here but we are back to winter weather. Love all your old sewing machines these aren't something we can pick up here you have to go to a seeing machine shop and at the earth for an working old machine !
ReplyDeletePS I lost my cellphone in my sewing room today while working on the binding and an applique center -- if you find your square, I might find my phone ! LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteGlad it's Quilt Cam night because I need to cut some strips for my project and this will make me do it. I ran by Fabric Fanatics yesterday and signed up for 2 of your classes so I'll see you then. Do you like Banana Nut or Zucchini Bread? If so I'll bake some for the group to snack on during class.
Barri from Plano,Tx
Why aren't you going to quilt market? sure wish i could go.
ReplyDeletejan in NC
Hi Bonny I read your blog everyday but never thought I would get to see you live on the quilt cam. It is 3:09pm Friday 26 October here in the Waikato, New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie-
ReplyDeleteLove the Chedder quilt behind you. I was excited to purchase an entire bolt of cheddar fabric last week to start cutting up for my own cheddar quilt. Also excited to find someone in Northern Virginia that will be working on my treadle machine that I got for FREE. It doesn't work at all, but it was free and he will fix it for only $100 and will only take 2 weeks. Love watching you, and so happy my online college class finished so I could watch tonight. Stay safe from the upcoming storm this weekend.
Michelle - Triangle, VA
does your DH go on the trips to Bali, Ireland and Alaska with you when you go?
ReplyDeleteJust joining you from Utah here. My dad gave me my mothers old portable machine. Its an Universal brand electric machine. I haven't been able to find any information on the internet. Can you offer any help on references?
ReplyDeleteLove quilt cam!
Speaking of Mysteries, how goes the New Years Day Mystery for the Great State of Texas? Any hints?
ReplyDeletejp
hi, Bonnie,,,while you were in Bali, you let us watch a woman quiting and she used quite a bit of batting, leaving her quilt "puffy" in contrast to our quilts in the US, which are quilted to death and flat,,,,do you think the thicker batting and less qilting stitchs will ever come back into "vogue",,,my grandchildren prefer the "puffy" quilts in our house from the 70's and 80's so much better than the recent quilts.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, did you put your square in your tote box that you were digging in (you mentioned that you hadn't unloaded everything since you went to Karen's).
ReplyDeleteThank you for details about the mystery quilt process. I can do this. Sounds like fun..!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late... just got home from seeing Huey Lewis and the News in Shippensburg
ReplyDeleteMy junior year at Oregon State I used to ride my bike to classes and would pass a dorm where someone had 'by by miss american pie' blaring out their dorm window every day. That is my strongest memory of that song!
ReplyDelete"the day the music died..." Love hearing the old songs. You make me smile!! Thanks honey!!
ReplyDeleteYes Bonnie singing American Pie at the to of my lungs. Lol
ReplyDeleteDid it end up in your binding triangles?
ReplyDeleteHey, I forgot to ask when you will do a Linky for the Bow Tie challenge. Hope I canget mine done before then.
ReplyDeleteBonnie try looking in your pretzel jar. You did move it to the front of the machine.
ReplyDeleteBonnie
My granny Ella always said waste not, want not. :)
ReplyDeleteI once made a 2" square out of 5 snippets of fabric, it was all I had left and i needed the piece. It gives me such a giggle every time i see it in the quilt.
ReplyDeleteBonnie - I love the old quilts where there wasn't enough fabric and the maker just "Made do", just like you just did with the block!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! I don't often get to join you on quiltcam because I work late but whenever I do it's so fun! Questions: Were is your music coming from, I love your choices! Also can you give the info about you table around the machine again.
ReplyDeleteWell heck fire.. you can stop over in Alabama on the 10th on your way back to GA! We are having a retreat in Odenville. :)
ReplyDeleteBonnie, he was at the Luhr's Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University
ReplyDeleteWhats the latest on your necchi machine? Is she working? I have found one and bought it. It's a straight stitch only one. I still have my eyes open for a julia . . .
ReplyDeleteI hope you won't be traveling when this BIG storm is coming.

Hi Bonnie, finally got to a quilt cam. Like the blue & yellow block. Am I supposed to get ads in the middle of your quilt cam?
ReplyDeleteYeah! I'm quilting my bowties now. I was originally going to make it as large as yours but when I figured out how many more bowties I would need I changed my mind and decided a smaller quilt would work just fine for the daybed I'm going to have in my gigantic new sewing room in the new home we are building. Now if I can only get myself to start packing my sewing room.....before I pack everything up (we will be in a rental for several months), I will be needing to know what NOT to box up.....I'm taking your Winston Ways class at Block Party in Portland. Naturally Block Party is being held between my moves.....hope you can help out with a fabric requirements list.....
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! This is my second visit to your quilt cam and so enjoy watching.
ReplyDeleteJulie from Alberta!
Yay! Got a bunch of really boring quilting done!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteFinally get to sew with you ; also cutting as I go. Due to time difference I usually miss you here on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC. Cutting for flying geese for a border using my version of your easy angle ruler. Also using a tip from one of your patterns I read recently when trimming the end of your strip to cut the centre triangle instead of wasting fabric cut a half square triangle for use somewhere else.....loving this tip.
went to thrift shop but didn't score anything but books. that is always good too. love the new floor and the background. have a great time with quiltCam. Joen in Etex.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, enoying watching you on Quilt Camfrom Saskatchewan Canada. I was wondering how you were going to quilt your Bow Tie Quilt?
ReplyDeleteOh how funny, I am sitting here sorting magazines(about 3 years worth) and putting ideas in my book right now! It was overwhelming me and I had to get it done. It is so satisfying to get this done and you had inspired me with your cleaning those hidden areas lately!
ReplyDeleteI have that table. I love it. much better than the one I fell on and broke
ReplyDeleteDo you prewash all your fabric?
ReplyDeleteI am the same way.. I like to touch my things.. I dont even keep my books on the pc.. I do all my bookwork by hand in ledger.. lol
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! First time watching .. I follow you on FB, and saw you were on line. I will try to check it out again ... fun!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilters over on the HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum have been singing with you tonight!
ReplyDeleteOh, no. I got here just in time to hear you explain your shut down process, and then turn out the lights. Darn! See you next time.
ReplyDeleteAnd after reading everyone's comments, I have a couple questions about things I missed tonight.
DeleteWhat is 'Bow Tie' Quilt yoga?
The paint chip idea is brilliant--Please explain. I hate to miss brilliant ideas!!
Thanks
Argh! This is twice I have flipped over to the quiltcam just in time to see you say goodnight. I need to get on a different schedule.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, I visit your blog daily and tuned in last night and worked on a Jinny Beyer project that I bought years ago. It is great that you open up your home to everyone to stitch with you...kind of like a retreat...could you picture how big of a room we would need if we were all in the same space. I live in Charlotte, NC and I am a full time pharmacist. Running and quilting are my therapy to stay off of drugs. Just competed in my 20th marathon in Chicago in Oct. I hope you can get your hip remedied soon...I know how much not running can play with me and exercise is so important to our health. I love your blog and just maybe I will try to join in on the mystery this go round..You have a great job...it is so cool to see where you get to travel and I love that you share and blog soo often...We are around the same age so I can so relate to you...keep up the great work..
ReplyDeleteI missed it, but am looking forward to the next one! Work is done for the week and I have lots of sewing to do!
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern. Love the use of fabrics!
ReplyDelete
