Quilt-Cam 6/18/2014

This is Vanessa’s wide-angle shot of her cutting station during a previous session of Quilt-Cam!

How productive are YOU when we sew together? Send me a photo and let me see!

She wrote on April 2nd, 2014:

Ready to sew! Love quilt cam!  Just love the wonky wishes stars..can't wait to get mine done but having a good time working on it. We got six inches of new snow today in Wyoming.
Hopefully Wyoming is DONE snowing by now! HA!

I have some great news, I am an AUNTIE and baby Emery made her entrance into this world around 11am mountain time today.  My sister Joy and baby doing FINE.  I can’t wait to see pictures of her, and if only I could get back out west to hold her, but it’s going to be a while.

I’m happy for some time to sew with you tonight.  I can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks or more since I was home alone to do it.

And I’m excited about the re-vamp of my String Spider Web project.  Take a look at my diagram for color placement:

colorlayout1

Plan so far!

I decided on a recangular quilt – the white areas are where the colored strings go, I am feeling TOO LAZY to draw them all in, but you know what? This would be a cool quilt with neutrals in those areas…hmmmmm…maybe next go round?

I have cut out enough of the pink kites to keep me busy for tonight and then some.  The yellow round will go after the pink one…and I moved the green sandwiched between orange and yellow to cool those down and to tone down the green a bit.

  29. Bonnie, Do you know about typing by SWYPE on your galaxy phone. I think it is built in to all android phones. Bring up the keyboard, like you are sending a text. Put your finger on the first letter of the word you want to type and then just drag your finger to the next letter and the next and the next. It is really good at guessing what word you are typing. Give it a try. It's very fast.

  32. Bonnie, I missed quilt cam, AGAIN!!At least, when I sit down to sew, tomorrow, I will be able to watch it.
I just finished a Chevron babt quilt in plums and grats with a tangerine boder and a soft orange flannel backing. It is not scrappy. I will email a picture, when I am back at my desktop computer.

  33. I'm re-watching the last part of Quilt-cam as I fell asleep during live show! As it started it was 3:00 a.m. here and I was in bed. I had plugged my headsets on my smartphone so as to be able to watch you without waking hubby up. It took me back to my childhood when I read under the blankets with a flaslight when I was supposed to be sleeping!
Thanks for all you teach us.

  35. Greetings Auntie!

Your layout for the string quilt is striking. Anxious to see the quilt.

Watched quilt cam. Pulled out a string table runner/wall-hanging that is in progress. Was happy to see that is nearly done.

Thanks for your comment about not having a seam too close to the end. I need to redo a few blocks.

  38. Had a Guild meeting last night. Between prep for the meeting and going missed quilt cam. Keep missing that live action but watch them the next day on youtube. Good to hear the newest member of your family arrived safe and sound. This next bit you might need to delete as it might be considered an ad but its just info to pass along. I found a place to get the kite shape template for spiderwebs in 2 sizes. Missouri Star Quilt Co. Saves me alot of time. Love the new layout and the stringless idea. I'm in a cutting groove today do you mind if I steal it and get it all kitted up for one of my guild's sewcials or the retreat? I try to put everything I need for a quilt in a box or I end up taking way too much stuff with me and not getting anything done. Do you do that too when you go somewhere where you're not the teacher? Thanks for all you freely give from your heart.

  39. Hi Bonnie , my name is Christa from Brisbane Australia. It is now three in the afternoon. I love your blog, it is the first time I watch quilt cam. I like the idea of having two blocks going at all times and you don't have to lift the foot In between sewing the blocks. Thanks for all the inspiration.
