52 Machines Humming!

Yesterday’s Jamestown Landing workshop was an absolute blast.

You can’t help but be inspired by eager quilters, excited to be in Bedford from whence they came – be it Ohio or New York or all over the great state of Pennsylvania.  They came, they sewed they conquered!  And I am sure they were tired by the end of the day.

And they got so much done ---and there will be such wonderful quilts coming out of this class…I can’t wait to see them finished.

We also were pleased to have one of the NEXT greatest quilting generations with us in class:

Samantha’s First Class!

This is Samantha, and she is 11 years old.  She has taken to quilting like a duck to water, and there is no stopping this little dynamo!

Sewing on her own 301!

Sharing her very first ever completed quilt!

I just loved having her in class yesterday, and she will be back again today for round two – Tumelo Trail!

Oh oh oh – and HERE is a great “Must run out and get” for those of you with vintage machines:

Magnetic BBQ Light!!

I was gifted this one, along with a pack of batteries that should see me through many a storm….it will be great with the treadle when the power goes out.  This one was found at Lowes in the BBQ aisle – tis the season for BBQ so go grab yourself one.  You can adjust the angle of the lighting, it’s on a little swivel ball joint thing….the magnet is strong and it HOLDS!  Whoowhoooo!

  3. Looks like a trip to Lowes is in my near future. I love the magnetic light and need one! Thanks for sharing the info Bonnie.

  4. Wow, there's some lovely colour combinations here. Well done Samantha, it's great to see them start young.

  5. I didn't find that light with an online search of Lowe's, but I did find them at Home Depot. Brinkmann Magnetic light Model # 812-9223-S for $9.99 in a 2-pack w/batteries included. AND I was already headed to Home Depot today for a new kitchen faucet 'cuz mine bit the dust this week. Your post was just in time! Thanks, Bonnie.

  6. Ace Hardware has the lights or can order them for you. Two in a package. I found not much magnet metal on my 301! But if fits fine on the top of the pressure foot shaft and gives direct light to the needle area.

But not for use on a computerized machine right? Magnets and Computers don't mix. Chris

Beautiful colors in quilt tops. Also so great to see younger gen getting interested in quilting!

  9. OMG! That BBQ light is AWESOME! That makes the quilting load traveling to classes and whatnot easier! I'm gonna see if I can find one tomorrow!

  10. Such great pics from class. Love the youngest sewer with her own 301. Mad search for the light at four Lowe's on Monday. No soap. Went to three different Home Depot and they looked at me like I had three heads. Really? It is BBQ season and the comment from Valerie proves they should have it. I'll keep looking!! Now to perhaps just order from Ace Hardware? Thanks Cindy B!! Hugs, Allison in Plano

  11. Thank you Bonnie for this opportunity to exit my stress and surround myself with new friends, sewing is just a bonus! Great class and I'll see you in San Diego...yeah!!

  12. I found one of the magnetic lights at Wal-Mart yesterday. I was looking for something else in the grilling section, and it just jumped out at me ..only $4.00, batteries included! WooHoo! It wil live onmy "new" vintage Singer 99-13.

  13. I love seeing that the next generation of quilters are in your class!! Well done, Samantha!
