Our day yesterday was full of Strips & Strings and Scrappy Things!
Our little group of 24 women met at the New Hope Fire Department in their community room – a great space on the outskirts of Durham for gathering.
The lighting was great, there was ample room for everyone to set up and get sewing, and the setting on the outskirts of the Durham Forest gave us lots of green to enjoy.
The Honey Bees and Me!
This group of gals are part of a bee known as the “Honey Bees” and honeys they are! They took up one full side of the room and I kept wandering over there to see what they were kicking up about now! So much fun to spend the past coupole of days with these ladies.
The class was Jamestown Landing, as shown behind us. The pattern is from my book String Fling. I just love teaching this class. We get a good run down on what I consider a neutral, get an intro to fun string piecing, and mastering half square triangles with the Easy Angle ruler. What’s not to love?

Today I’ve got a late 2pm check out of the hotel and am meeting the quilters for dinner before heading over for my evening lecture tonight. After that, I’ll be packing up the car and heading home. It’s just a bit over an hour and a half drive home, but the back and forth driving would have been too much, and by the time you figure in the miles for driving it was about an even trade to just have me stay and rest up a bit more instead of adding 3 hours of driving every day to my schedule. I’m glad. I slept in this morning until almost 9am!
I plan on catching up on emails that have gone unanswered, and perhaps some antique shop browsing?? It’s not quite a day “off” but I’m treating it like one!
Have a great Monday, everyone!
Oh goodie, it seems like ages since you've been antique shopping. Looking forward to the interesting things you find
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your down time Bonnie. Here in Perth, Australia, we are 12 hours ahead of you and at 9PM tonight I was talking about the time in New York. Told my daughter I knew when it was cause I can watch quilt cam live at 9AM! Pure coincidence that I was talking about you when you woke up! Drive safely tonight and Goodnight from Australia :)
ReplyDeleteLove that you get to shop and browse today. I'll be watching and drooling on the computer later, I am sure. Yea for a day off!
ReplyDeleteBonnie,
