Opening Night at VCQ!

VCQ_Apr2014 019
This is Monique and Me after our evening extravaganza kick of for Celebration 2014!

The Virginia Consortium of Qiulters has their retreat at Smith Mountain Lake in a wonderful 4H Education center every other year on even numbered years, and I’ve been privileged to have taught here the past 3 consecutive events.

This year the theme is “Quilting…It’s TIMELESS” and we are using the Quilting Tardis to visit different eras in quilting history!  I love this!  It’s very imaginative, and we are having a great time.

Last night after a meet and greet and dinner, We gathered together, all gazillion of us for presentations by our instructors for this year, letting everyone know a bit about ourselves and sharing the projects we will be working on this weekend.

This is the crowd gathered together when I got up to give my schpeel!

Full on THIS side of the house!

Full on THIS side of the house too, and so excited we are a bit blurry as a result! LOL!

Then, what we all love the most --- Show & Share of projects completed from classes taken at PREVIOUS VCQ Celebrations!  There were quilts brought in from when I taught in 2010, and 2012!

Click the image below if you can’t view the slide show on your mobile device.  You’ll be taken to the photo album for viewing.
It was such a fun time and I wasn’t ready for bed by the time we wrapped up for the evening, so I went back to my classroom for some of this:

Night time Piecing!

I am almost done with the string blocks for the border of my Cheddar Sampler.  If there is time this morning, I’ll be squaring up and de-papering before breakfast.  Class doesn’t start until 9am.  Gotta get that sewing time in!

Have a wonderful Friday, everyone!

  1. It was a good thing you packed the machine!

I want to go to a BH class...someday someday!

I also wanted to say thanks for the link to a link of my t-shirt rug tutorial. I've been checking in with you since 2008 and have made two of your quilts.

    Have a great day!
