Some ladies were quite comfortable with “scrappy everything as Bev’s sample here ----This quilt is going to end up as a donation quilt through a sub-group of the Quail Country Quilters who call themselves the “Scrap Rats” What a CUTE name for a bunch of charity quilters making quilts from scraps!
Someone is going to love this colorful and fun quilt!
In yesterday’s “iphone-o-gram” I showed you a couple of the painted-lady featherweights in class….I forgot to mention that we also had a white one from the 1960s, and a few black ones wearing their original paint jobs as well!
And I was pleased to have Cathy’s featherweight with me on loan at the guest house!
I looked up her number….she’s a centennial girl from 1951, and she sews SEW well.

The Quail Country Quilters meet in the mornings -- -so we have a morning lecture today, and then I’m off again back down to the Phoenix area to spend some time with my Dad and my brother and family. I think there are plans underway for a family outing to go see Les Mis. I saw it on stage many many years ago, so I’m looking forward to the production. Even though I know it will make me sad – it’s a tragedy after all. And I’m sensitive that way, especially with some of the songs ---but I can’t wait!
I’ve really enjoyed being up in this area ---there are more pics from Jerome to come, and I’ll be back up in Prescott on Sunday so my Arizona adventure continues on!
i remember seeing those plugs in a flyer from Bed, Bath, and Beyond last Fall.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colorful quilt blocks. Someday i'm going to have to make one of these quilts from my scraps. I'm betting that either a design wall, EQ4, or a piece of graph paper would come in handy when figuring out which strips to sew into pairs and how to set the blocks.
I definitely need those power strips. Let me know what you find out.

DeleteThey are called Pivot Power by Quirky. I saw them at Amazon as well. What a wonderful bunch of star struck colors. Another quilt I want to make. I will have to set up two more machines so I can have 8 quilts going (a main quilt and a leader/ender on each machine). Now to find the time to machine hop. Lots of stars going on there and looking good! I got one of those surge protector plug-in things for my son for Christmas. Should have picked one up for myself too, but I didn't.

Star Struck is wonderful for scrappers lol. Just looking at what the quilters did with their own scrappy stash inspires me.
ReplyDeleteToday I am working on 4.5" sq. string blocks to go into a child's Charity quilt. WHAT FUN! Get to play and see a cute quilt evolve.

Love the cord, thanks for sharing. And I like how it plugs to to side. The last one I bought plugs in a row (not sure how to describe this) and it really limits how many items can be plugged in.

ReplyDeleteLes Mis, I'd not seen it before. Maybe the original on the small screen. I left with a BIG lump in my throat! Take tissues, the popcorn napkins don't work too well. Neat little Extension cord. Glad you are having fun in AZ.

ReplyDeleteGreat name indeed! Sounds like the Scrap Rats do a lot of quilting for good causes. The other Bonnie's gadget looks like something I would be interested as well, especially around my computer area! I hate when I have to plug something new in that has a bigger transformer and the only open outlet is in the middle. My sister-in-law & her hubby saw Les Mis. and just loved it. Take your tissues and enjoy yourself! :-)

I've been using a device called a "power squid" for a couple years. Does the same thing as the fancy power strip in the photo. It really looks like a squid, and gives you plenty of room to plug in things with big transformers at the plug end of the cord
