Some ladies were quite comfortable with “scrappy everything as Bev’s sample here ----This quilt is going to end up as a donation quilt through a sub-group of the Quail Country Quilters who call themselves the “Scrap Rats” What a CUTE name for a bunch of charity quilters making quilts from scraps!
Someone is going to love this colorful and fun quilt!
In yesterday’s “iphone-o-gram” I showed you a couple of the painted-lady featherweights in class….I forgot to mention that we also had a white one from the 1960s, and a few black ones wearing their original paint jobs as well!
And I was pleased to have Cathy’s featherweight with me on loan at the guest house!
I looked up her number….she’s a centennial girl from 1951, and she sews SEW well.
Come take a look at how busy we were!
Gadget Alert!
I want one of these for my retreat bag:
One of our quilters, Bonnie Bangert ((Yes, another Bonnie!)) had this….and I love how you can twist this into any shape, making room for all those accessories that have BIGGER transformers on them ---sometimes things don’t fit in a regular surge protector…but see how the plug with the white box on it doesn’t crowd its neighbors? I think she said she found these on QVC in a two pack. Might have to check that out!
The Quail Country Quilters meet in the mornings -- -so we have a morning lecture today, and then I’m off again back down to the Phoenix area to spend some time with my Dad and my brother and family. I think there are plans underway for a family outing to go see Les Mis. I saw it on stage many many years ago, so I’m looking forward to the production. Even though I know it will make me sad – it’s a tragedy after all. And I’m sensitive that way, especially with some of the songs ---but I can’t wait!
I’ve really enjoyed being up in this area ---there are more pics from Jerome to come, and I’ll be back up in Prescott on Sunday so my Arizona adventure continues on!
i remember seeing those plugs in a flyer from Bed, Bath, and Beyond last Fall.
ReplyDeleteLove all the colorful quilt blocks. Someday i'm going to have to make one of these quilts from my scraps. I'm betting that either a design wall, EQ4, or a piece of graph paper would come in handy when figuring out which strips to sew into pairs and how to set the blocks.
I definitely need those power strips. Let me know what you find out.

Deletei have the "Quirky" cord in pink and black - from BBB http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=18281880
are you planning a visit to Central Florida this year??
I bought my plug at Office Max.
ReplyDeleteFound them online at Amazon and Bed, Bath & Beyond. A bit pricey for me. Will keep a look out for sales. Thanks for the heads up Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI agree Kim -- little pricey
DeleteThey are called Pivot Power by Quirky. I saw them at Amazon as well. What a wonderful bunch of star struck colors. Another quilt I want to make. I will have to set up two more machines so I can have 8 quilts going (a main quilt and a leader/ender on each machine). Now to find the time to machine hop. Thanks Bonnie for all the wonderful inspiration!
ReplyDeleteHey Bonnie, don't forget there are Culver's here!!

ReplyDeleteSheryn
Lots of stars going on there and looking good! I got one of those surge protector plug-in things for my son for Christmas. Should have picked one up for myself too, but I didn't.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on the power strip. I just ordered one on Amazon! Will be great for my quilt retreat at the beginning of March!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I've seen those bendy power strips at Target too. I've been meaning to get one or two myself... your photo just convinced me to do it sooner rather than later. :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter that now lives in Fort Worth used to live in Gilbert when she was going to school at A. T. Still University. Be sure and eat at Liberty Market and Joe's Farm Grill. Those were her favorites. This is Vicki Samsel from your classes at Fabric Fanatics but from Missouri. Have fun in sunny Arizona.
ReplyDeleteHmmm Can't see the slide show without logging in?
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same problem. Hopefully it's temporary.
DeleteI can't see the slide show either. I don't have a sky drive account and don't really want one, but, if I have to, someday I will.... :-))
DeleteI can't see the slide show either.
ReplyDeleteHaving trouble with the slide show also. Even though it says I have an account I get a message saying I may not have the right to look at the photos. Got any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI cannot get on the slide show without creating a Microsoft account. However, I do like the plug extention!
ReplyDeleteThe Star blocks from the retreat are wonderful. Looks like a good time was had by all. And that power strip is AWESOME!!! I want one!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Always, Queenie
Star Struck is wonderful for scrappers lol. Just looking at what the quilters did with their own scrappy stash inspires me.
ReplyDeleteToday I am working on 4.5" sq. string blocks to go into a child's Charity quilt. WHAT FUN! Get to play and see a cute quilt evolve.

Love the cord, thanks for sharing. And I like how it plugs to to side. The last one I bought plugs in a row (not sure how to describe this) and it really limits how many items can be plugged in.
ReplyDeleteHave to sign in to view the photos. But I'm sure you've heard that already and it will be changed as soon as you get to the computer again. I'll check back later, as always! I Love your adventures! I travel and quilt vicariously through you!
having same problem
ReplyDeleteLes Mis, I'd not seen it before. Maybe the original on the small screen. I left with a BIG lump in my throat! Take tissues, the popcorn napkins don't work too well. Neat little Extension cord. Glad you are having fun in AZ.
ReplyDeleteNo pics for me, either, even though I opended a Microsoft account. Just thought I'd let you know :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat name indeed! Sounds like the Scrap Rats do a lot of quilting for good causes. The other Bonnie's gadget looks like something I would be interested as well, especially around my computer area! I hate when I have to plug something new in that has a bigger transformer and the only open outlet is in the middle. My sister-in-law & her hubby saw Les Mis. and just loved it. Take your tissues and enjoy yourself! :-)
ReplyDeleteHere is the link for the surge protector... and it is quite reasonable.

Unfortunatgely, they will not ship to Canada... ;((
I've been using a device called a "power squid" for a couple years. Does the same thing as the fancy power strip in the photo. It really looks like a squid, and gives you plenty of room to plug in things with big transformers at the plug end of the cord
ReplyDeleteThis is the error message that I got when I tried to view the slide show also:
ReplyDelete"This item might not exist or is no longer available

Don't know what happened but I could not view the slide show at all. - oh well - will try again tomorrow.......
