iPhone-o-Gram! An Afternoon with Allison!

I'm over at Allison's for a bit of stitching, some oohing and ahhing over vintage machines and antique quilts!

I'm also happy to say that the laundry is even done!

Plans have changed for tonight---No Southern Junction---everyone is sick, so DH and I are headed to the Basketball game instead---Boise state is playing in Dallas! That makes him a happy camper!

    1. Hi Jo, It was fun to pull some of my vintage quilts to hang over the banister that I knew she'd be interested in. If I'd had a red carpet to roll out I would have . . . felt like the Quilting Queen had arrived! She so sweet and down to earth. We are so fortunate to have her share so much with us.

  2. Very cool quilts, Bonnie. Looks like vintage quilt heaven.
I don't know if DH has heard (or cares), but USU (where your brother works) is back in rivalry with Boise State. USU moves into the Mountain West conference, and Boise has decided not to leave it.

  3. Beautiful quilts! I am drawn to the one on the left with what looks like a pale pink background!

    1. Hi Cythina, Thank you for the compliment. Yes, you are right the faded nine patch on the left has a lovely soft pink background.

    1. Good eye Lynda! That cheddar you see is part of a a really scrappy Hens and Chicks pattern I picked up back in 1995. That block was the prettiest and most intact. I overlap vintage quilts that are tattered so their best parts show. If they are not tattered, then I fold them in fourths.

  5. That's why he was sitting with you at the airport. Didn't catch that he was with you on this trip, how fun. He doesn't mind your sewing in the hotel room while he's watching TV. What a guy!
Just read a whole article about cutting the ends off an onion, place it in a jar or bowl in your room and it sucks up the bacteria around. Read it on Facebook and it kinda makes sense.
    You two stay healthy.

    2. Colds and flu are caused by viruses, not bacteria. You may have a bacteria-free environment, but still get a cold. And everyone would be sitting around crying and the room would smell ;-). Anyway, the onion would soon rot, due to the bacteria multiplying like crazy on it!

    3. Funny you should mention the onions Carolyn! I've been doing this since I read about it Mary Janes Farm magazine a few years ago. Her grandmother did it. Not sure what compounds in the onion do this, but we've been cold and flu free for several seasons now. I have them in the den where we sit in the evenings, in the living room where I work and on our nightstands. The onion smell is only strong the first day. After 5 days I replace them. No, I don't wear garlic around my neck!! If it keeps me out of the doctors office and productive, I'm all for it.

    1. What do you miss most about Texas AllyJo? My step-dad grew up in Corsicana so we moved here when I was 9 from Virginia Beach, VA. I miss the ocean so much and vacation near one when we can.

  8. Wow that does look like a wonderful place to be stitching, and enjoying the Quilts. Glad you got a chance to sew some instead of watching everyone else sew . We need to see some of those Vintage machines too! Eye candy heaven. Have fun at the game ! Alison sure is a great friend to have. I sure enjoyed seeing her 301 in class , I think I will have to have one .

    1. Hi Crazy Quilter! Good to meet you in class too. You are right, it was fun to watch Bonnie sew at our breakfast bar. She was using her new Feather-Mate table from Sewingmates and it is perfect for our vinatge machines like the 99k in its base, the 221 and the 301. I can't wait to order mine!! http://sewingmates.com/ Enjoyed seeing your 99k in class Monday and then you switched it up Tuesday with a pretty Featherweight. Hope you find a 301 very soon. By fare it is my favorite machine to piece on. Take care and hope to see you again.

  10. Sigh . . . what a lovely time we had with Bonnie. Tea, talk, vintage sewing machines and antique quilts. We feel like the luckiest quilters in the world!! My friend Cindy introduced me to the ways of "all things Bonnie" during our Sew Days together. This was a once in a life time chance since Bonnie had time in between classes at two different shops in our area. I feel blessed. Thank you Bonnie!!
