Scrappy Trips has taken on a new life of it’s own on Flickr with the Scrappy Trip-Along --- and also on Instagram with it’s own Scrappy Trip Madness!
The quilt shown here belongs to Laura at Needles, Pins & Baking tins……I just LOVE her colors!
Here is a glimpse at what thumbnails you will find when you first view the Scrappy Trips group on Flickr—there are 488 members and many photos to inspire!
So much color! So much fun!
WeeeHaaaa!
I was shown the “Instagram” group photos today during my workshop – but I don’t have that group on my phone and I couldn’t find out how to access it to link to it here – so if anyone knows, can you clue me in??
Are you feeling the blahhhhs with your fabric? In a slump between projects and not feeling motivated? This is one that can get your mojo back in no time flat!
Click HERE for the tutorial and go dig into those 2.5” strips!
We are just back after eating a mess of BBQ with my brother and sister in law. So fun to spend time with far away family. Today’s workshop was awesome – just about to settle in and edit some photos to post a slide show in the morning from today's class, stay tuned!!
Thank Goodness you have finally acknowledged this, I've been dying to know if you knew how hugely popular the Scrappy Trips has become.....It is blowing up (in an amazing way) all over the internet, etc. Instagram is an app that you can join, kind of like Pinterest and Twitter. IE addictive where you just post photos with a quick little caption.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Bonnie, hopefully this will garner you a whole new group of loyal followers. XO
I agree with comment above! I made this last year and loved making the quilt and still thinking about making another! All the patterns are great!
ReplyDeleteI have done Trip Around The World and had a lot of fun doing it. I'll have to try the Scrappy Trips soon.
ReplyDeleteIf you Twitter go to #scrappytripalong trend and you can view all convos between quilters participating! On the Flicker page there were close to 400 signed up sewing! Started mine last night, like I need another project besides your Mystery Quilt in Plano. EASY Street, and Pfefferneuse. Lol. You are addictive Ms Bonnie Hunter!
ReplyDeleteIs this the link you're looking for Bonnie?

thx again Bonnie! what an inspiration you are, to share soo much for so little...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun? What's old is new again. Although I made a scrappy trips a few years ago, I just might have to make another one!
ReplyDeleteNot surprising everyone loves your pattern!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much...I am loving the scrappy trip along and love your method!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've been shown this! It's been a blast, and everyone at every opportunity has sent people to your directions when they ask about . Just have to layout and sew mine together :).
ReplyDeleteAs Bonnie so lovingly stated WEEEHAAA!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! Thanks for featuring my quilt :-) and thanks for writing the awesome tutorial, I'm loving the scrappy trip along ad plan to make at least a couple more. Do you have the instagram app on your iPhone or android? That's how most of us are following along. You just write #scrappytripalong in the description of the photo and then it pops it into the group pool. Similar to how hash tags work on twitter. Shoot me an email ltaylor at Ethitec dot com if you'd like me to explain it a bit better! There's also a web interface to view the instagram group but I can't remember the link off hand. Statigram something or other :-)
ReplyDeletePs, I blogged about my scrappy trip along here: http://www.needlespinsandbakingtins.com/2013/01/happy-scrappy-new-years.html
ReplyDeleteLoved the tutorial! Like Ana, "I need another project besides your Mystery Quilt in Plano. EASY Street, and Pfefferneuse. Lol. You are addictive Ms Bonnie Hunter!" So what is another Bonnie project added to the love seat in the den? I love speed sewing strips on my 301 and this will be fun since I don't have to care anything about what fabric is next to the other. Let THIS project begin!!! This is so fun and what it all about . . . using our scraps. Thank you Bonnie!!
ReplyDeleteI found this link to view the #scrappytripalong photos in your browser:

Great way to see larger versions than when using the app
I found this one today while cruising the web, http://www.redpepperquilts.com/2013/01/Scrappy-Trip-Along-Quilt.html It's so bright and fun. My little girls would love it. These quilts remind me of the paintings that use pictures in each square to create a whole picture.
ReplyDeleteA BIG thank you for showing us these great pictures! Just home from our festive season interstate visit all I wanted to do was sit and sew at home AND i had a bin of 2.5" scraps that was ear marked for a Bonnie project this year, so I just dug right in and started a scrappy trips! Happy travels and quilting, Sue SA. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL I follow another blogger and she was doing it too! maybe later in the yr!
ReplyDeletebonnie, dear! don't forget to search #quiltville on instagram too :)
ReplyDeleteI wondered when Scrappy Trips was going to go global!!!! I've made two. One scrappy and one in 7 fabrics in a group - that one was awesome as I took a focal fabric and chopped it up into a really cool border. Has anyone assigned a color to a strip - still making it scrappy? I am working on that now. Also working on making every square a different fabric - just keeping the color the same. Love, love this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI am having soo much fun creating the scrappy trip around the world blocks. Thank you so much. :o) I have a block on my post if you would like to drop by and take a peek. Have a wonderful week! Trish
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I had *just* finished a set of scrappy trip placemats for a Christmas gift (I'm running behind) when I saw the trip along. I'm going to have to do one! They're so cute! ~Angela~
