More Than Just Quilting!

Mackinac_May2014 2061
The Grand Hotel Needle Arts Seminar is MORE than just Quilting!

We have a whole gaggle of knitters with us, and they are enthralled with the hands-on instruction they are getting from our world-class knitting author and instructor, Lucy Neatby!

I must confess that I don’t knit – yet ---but if I did, I’d definitely want Lucy to be the one to teach me.  She is a bundle of fun and energy, and has no fear when it comes to yarn and needles and color!

Come take a peek into Lucy’s class and see what they were busying their hands with yesterday ---

Jackie, stitching away!

Don’t these ladies look like they are having oodles of fun?

These ladies said they would definitely come again!

This baby cardigan is adorable!  Look!

I was told that knitting baby garments is a way to learn all the techniques needed in a class to knit an adult sized cardigan later at home – it makes sense!  I wouldn’t be able to finish one adult sized sleeve in the time it would take to knit a cute baby cardigan like this!

Lucy had several of her books on hand as well – check out the texture of this fun wrap!

Gorgeous, glorious color!

One of Lucy’s classes was double or two sided knitting…these scarves were luxuriously thick and warm and two sided!

A couple more of Lucy’s fun books!  You can find them on her website HERE.

Beautiful!  I believe this is a cushion cover ---

Lucy also offers knitting classes on Craftsy so that you can take a personal class with her from the comfort of your own easy chair.  Click HERE for 50% off  Lucy's knitting class

I’m saving the photos from yesterday’s Scrap Crystals class to combine with the photos I take today since this is a two day workshop –yesterday was mostly “Death by Triangles” – there are over 600 tiny triangles in the quilt, so other than piles of triangles, there wasn’t as much to show for an interesting slide show – but stay tuned tomorrow for that ---

Time to run off for another glorious breakfast buffet--

Love from The Grand Hotel --

  4. OK...now I want to knit too!!!!!!!! I have some but never really learned from anyone and would resort to crochet as it was easier for me to figure out and not mess up so bad...LOL! But the scarves, mittens, hats and socks OH MY! I need to do this too. I'm going to need 9 lives to make all the stuff I want to make. LOL!
I wanted to tell you one of the best things I learned from you are the command strips to put down a perfect seam allowance guide! Awesome since I jump back and forth sewing quilts and baby items and clothes so need to remove it once in a while! That is a clever clever tip! Thanks!!!

  5. Yes, Lucy has bright hair. It's one of her hallmarks. She is a knitting rock star the way Bonnie is a quilting rock star, and she's been known for her vibrant hair for years. I've met her, but I've never taken a class from her and I'd love to.
