It's been a busy full day up in the mountains!
Jason arrived not long after we did – and we have unpacked and put away and organized and arranged and set up everything that we brought.
The entire day has been pelted with on and off again buckets of rain!
The first addition to the cabin---the hanging of our American Flag!
In between bouts of rain there has been time for hiking, and for napping. We saw our first deer as we arrived this morning. Look closely at the photo, you can see her running off :)
And for grilling steaks with corn on the cob for dinner--and for fixing ceiling fans!
I even have the treadle set up :)
The reason I can send this update??
There are things we need off the mountain and I am back in Wilkesboro where we have a phone signal.
There is zero reception at the cabin which is just fine by me!
Catch you again next trip to town!

ReplyDeleteBonnie, just so happy for you guys. And what a way to spend the 4th of July, setting up your new cabin and spending time with your boys. It looks wonderful in the pics. Makes me want to go to the mountains....and that's quite a drive from west Texas area.LOL
ReplyDeleteSo delighted for you! I can just imagine all the "quilty" things you'll add to the cabin's decor! I look forward to many pictures in the future!

ReplyDeleteBonnie, I couldn't be happier for you! And to be able to just move in ... that's gotta be nice! Of course you'll change things around to make it "yours," eventually ..... but what a way to spend your first weekend as "cabin in the mountains" owners!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! It is beautiful. You deserve a wonderful place to completely enjoy yourselves. Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteAny quilts hung yet?
ReplyDeleteYour cabin is reminiscent of my niece's which is much better appointed than my home.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun and busy weekend. The no internet reception sounds like heaven to me. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone (including the dog) feels very at home there!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! Great that you have been able to share your cabin with us. Looking forward to much more! Many great memories ahead for you.

ReplyDeleteSo lovely and you'll,have it looking like home in no time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! You deserve that. You work hard.
ReplyDeleteHappy dance for the Hunter family on Buck Mountain!
ReplyDeleteSure looks like you're all fitting in quite nicely. Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July! We just got home from my sister-in-law's house. All our family showed up and played yard games in the back yard. So sweet that you saw a deer your first day there.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had one of the best Fourth of July's ever!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it for many years to come, have fun with your decorating.
Happy for you. Also glad you can have some blog/fb/ Quiltville downtime!!! Just promise never to dissappear for good!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cabin! Looks like the dog has found a comfy spot right away and settled in! You have worked hard for this; enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteThere's a reason you don't get cell service at the cabin. It's to force you to relax. Enjoy your cabin and family. We will all still be here later.
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in a cabin in NC last summer with no phone/internet. At first it was discomforting but then we were ok with it. We, too, got online when we went to town (Blowing Rock) but at "home" we had to rest and be quiet. It was GREAT!
ReplyDeleteI would love a place to go to---to leave the world behind!!!! enjoy your stay. relax, sew hexies, and make the cabin YOURS! see ya when you get back to the world!
