The End of a Very Long Day ---

Has a very soft bed in it!

OY! What a travel day…..I honestly don’t know what I would have done without wifi access, facebook, text, blogging, and netflix while sewing a whole mess of Hexies.

I spent 7 hours in the Monroe Regional Airport.

I arrived early at 1pm because I had to be out of my hotel room.  I expected to wait around a while but..

My scheduled 5:05pm flight was delayed and delayed and delayed…and finally, my  flight was delayed to 7:55pm --- AFTER the scheduled 7:20pm alternate flight that was running on time.  At this point I had them book me on the 7:20, not knowing if the 7:55 would every really BE 7:55 ----what if it delayed further or got canceled?

I must say that once I arrived in Atlanta things were taken care of quickly.  All we had to do was scan our boarding passes and hotel info and meal vouchers were delivered.  Too late to want to eat ---it was after 10pm when we finally touched down in Atlanta ---I’m saving my meal voucher for breakfast before flying out this morning.

In the mean time, this is where I spent the night ---the Crowne Plaza Airport ---Not so shabby!  But not that there is much to see or do either. Just good enough for a quick sleep.

My fligh this morning is scheduled for about 8am.  I’ve got a 6am shuttle back to the airport ----alarm was set for 5am.

And off I go again --

I’m grateful to have been safe and warm and comfy in a big bed and all is well, albeit a bit delayed.

And I’ll soon be back home where I belong!

The traveling life ---every once in a while I am reminded that it is not all that it is cracked up to be.

And sometimes ---it all turns out okay!

  2. As the sife of a musician I can attest that being "on the road" is definitely not what it's cracked up to be a lot of the time! It wears thin very quickly--think of how much you are going to L O V E being at your new getaway cabin (LOL) now!! Hugs and happy 4th Julierose

  5. Glad you got some sleep! What is the trick; why do some flyers get put up in hotels, while others have to spend the night sitting in the airport? Does it have to do with booking travel through the airline v. through a site like expedia or cheapair?

  6. From now on, I'm going to be very thankful every time a flight leaves and arrives on time. Not that I'm not, but I haven't really thought much about it until I read your unpleasant experience.

  7. I truly feel your pain! Just a small glimpse into my world. LOL Flying is so glamorous! Another reason I stay home on my days off instead of jet-setting!

  8. I'm glad they were nice to you and gave you a comfortable room and meal. I didn't know that even happened anymore. Not when I have travelled lately. Those closed counters, where the counter people work multiple jobs, are par for the course in our little one-gate airports. Frustrating at times, but at least it is air service.

    Happy 4th!
