Meet Carolyn on the left and her daughter, Lisa on the right!
A couple of years ago they came to another workshop week in another town and we had such a great time, I was so happy to see them make the trek to Champaign, IL for another round of quilt quilt quilt til you wilt wilt wilt!
Carolyn lives in Arkansas, while her daughter lives in Missouri, so it was a driving road trip for them and we had the best time.
If you remember the nice hand crafted wooden extension tables in my slide shows this past week – those machines and tables belong to these ladies, the tables made by Carolyn’s handy hubby.
As a designer, nothing thrills me more than to see what you do with my designs – how you interpret them, switching colors, changing borders, combining my vision with your own. It is SO rewarding for me!
I took a lot of photos of show & share quilts, but there were so many just from Carolyn and Lisa that I thought I would give them a special shout out today.
Lisa’s Smith Mountain Morning from Scraps & Shirttails II!
Check out those borders y’all! This is where I smack my head much like the V-8 commercial and think “Now why didn’t I think of that!” Wonderful! I also love the red.

Thanks for coming all the way to Illinois to spend some time with me, girls! I hope it won’t be long before I see you again ---I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
Today and Tomorrow have been designated as my “WEEKEND”. I’m playing a bit of catch up. There WILL be a massage this afternoon. There will be a chiropractor appointment tomorrow in preparation for traveling to England on Friday.
I’m thinking Wednesday Evening will work GREAT for our next Quilt-Cam so mark your calendars and start planning that project – 9PM EST! Just come meet me here at the blog at that time and we’ll sew together.
Tonight I’m drawing for the winner of the 2 issues of Quiltmaker Magazine. Did you enter? Click HERE to go THERE to leave your comment on that post only to be entered!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Wow! That Red Smith Mountain Morning....just, wow! What an incredible duo that mother & daughter are. You inspire such creativity. Hoping to join you on Wednesday for Quiltcam. Thanks for the great post.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those ladies are amazing. I think those are the best of Bonnie and Quiltville. I have to add some red to the stash. Mary in Boston.
ReplyDeleteLove Liaa's setting on the split 9 patch so much I had to print it out-I think I have enough piled up to make a small one like that! Thanks for the inspiration, gals. You are a dynamic duo!
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow!!! Those two are amazing...I really need to up my game and get some stuff done! I agree with Bev...love love the setting on the split 9 patch where it star bursts out...I think I need to start one of those...or two or three...LOL!
ReplyDeleteYay...quilt cam...see you then. :)
Wow, how special I feel to have a "spotlight" on Bonnie's blog. I'm the daughter (Lisa) of the duo. I found Bonnie a few years ago during the orca bay mystery- Was soaking up all I could from her Blog and she had a pretty big influence on the start of my vintage sewing machine collection (which I won't go into in case my husband ever reads this) I have made several of Bonnie's patterns and love every single one of them. This was my second time to get to be in one of her classes which I will have to say far surpasses a trip to disney world and she is the most fun quilting teacher you will ever meet. Her trunk show was out of this world. I have all her books and the photos of her quilts do not do them justice as to seeing them in person. It was worth the drive just to touch her pineapple crazy (gasp-she let us touch them) Thank you Bonnie for all you've shared with me and the quilting world- I so hope to be able to attend another one of your classes in the future. Lisa D.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, thanks for sharing! Lisa, you and your Mom are incredible. And your quilts are out of this world. Both of your Smith Mountain Mornings are captivating, and its on my to-do list. Love your comment about the vintage machines collection; I've started one, too. Bonnie, glad you're getting some Bonnie time. See you for Quilt Cam Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteWow! Loved the quilt show!! Two very talented quilters. Have a happy day!

ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! each and every one of these is a work of art! so much fun to see the color varieties of each pattern!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection of wonderful quilts - both in design and color choice. I feel so inadequate and really should get myself into gear and get on with some heavy piecing. Thanks for sharing these.

ReplyDeleteI know Carolyn is so blessed to have such a wonderful, talented daughter! I only have sons who don't sew! He-He!
ReplyDeleteThose ladies are amazingly talented and prolific. And shows what can be done with just your and Judy Martin's patterns (I have Judy's book also). I am in awe.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Lisa's Hubby had to show her off and I can understand why. As a quilter myself I can appreciate the time and talent it has taken to make such amazing quilts! You are my inspiration!
