Scrappy Trippin’ in the Afternoon!

This was a shot I took of folks arriving for yesterday’s guild meeting with the Piecing Partners of Colorado Springs, Colorado!

They meet in the mornings, and everyone was chatting and laughing and catching up with the goings on that have happened since the last time they had seen each other.

So THIS is what it’s like to have a morning meeting when everyone is bright eyed, bushy tailed and caffeinated? LOL!

Energy was high, and I was so happy to be there.  My lecture topic was String Fling….and before coming I had loaded all the class quilts for this week, and everything else packed around them to bring the weight of each duffel to 50 pounds was string quilt oriented.  FUN!!

After the meeting was over, we grabbed a bit of lunch and headed to the location where our class was going to be….along the way I got glimpses of the mountains in all of their  snow-capped glory ---

The sun shon down through light and whispy clouds, giving us plenty of blue sky – no jackets were needed!
Gathering with groups of women of all ages --- you know my favorite thing to see is all the comforts of “home” they bring to set up their own sewing stations.  Some have mascot pincushions, some have mug holders with table clamps.  Some come with custom made pressing pads, and even beautiful hand-crafted seam rippers and tools.  But here is a gadget I think is definitely going on my MUST FIND list:

Do you know what this is??

It’s a battery operated fan you wear around your neck, and the air blows directly where you – or I—will need it…up our décolletage, neck and gently cooling hot-flash ravaged faces!
I asked where she found it, and she said Dick’s Sporting goods.  I’m after one when I get home….I think this would even be great on the airplane, where air vents blowing on the TOP OF MY HEAD do little more than throw my hair all over and not get me where I need it…  Add this one to your Christmas shopping list.  I think I’ve even got a coupon for Dick’s Sporting goods somewhere at home – hmmmmm.
Even though our class was only 3 hours, we got a ton done in a very short amount of time.
Come see what the girls got up to!

  3. They had those fans at Walmart during the summer. They may have changed to heaters now though, so watch for them next spring/summer.

  7. LOVE the pic of the scrappy strips hanging off the end of the ironing board! Looks like glorious confusion and jump in fun time. Even saw a few old favorite fabrics in the blocks!
