Scrappy Bargello All Day Long!

Plano_TX2014 173
 What a super charged day!

The Garland Quilt Guild gang met at Fabric Fanatics in Plano for a Scrappy Bargello Sew-a-thon ---and boy did we SEW!

This workshop is much more like a quilter’s day camp than a “wrack your brain around something new and mind numbing” and was PERFECT as our day number 5 class day!

The instructions are simple, and you can find the pattern for Scrappy Bargello under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog.

The class members just had to come with a mess of 2-1/2” strips, be they scraps or jelly rolls and the fun began.

We sewed panels, pressed them so they’d nest after we cut our loops, sewed them into tubes sliced, opened, rearranged, and before lunch time we had full panels being shown!

But THIS whole baby quilt top was made before lunch – Power sewing, Ya’ll!

The baby version was made with 4 panels -- each with 5 stair steps instead of 6 and the panels are 20 strips long instead of 32.  It measures 40" X 40" before borders.  We decided it doesn't NEED borders!

The lap size quilt has a center that measures 48” X 64” BEFORE borders, so it really is a generous couch size by the time you get the borders on there.  Of course, once they saw how easy it was – lap quilt projects quickly turned into full sized bed projects in an effort to use up MORE FABRIC in 2014!

Two trouble makers hard at it!

We even had one handsome fella in the bunch!  Thanks for putting up with all of us, Stephen!
