It’s our FIRST Quilt-Cam of 2014!
I’m so excited…look what Rebecca sent in!
She writes:
Hi Bonnie, I just wanted to let you know that your Wonky Wishes block has not been forgotten. Like you mine had to be set aside for other projects. I think this will me my lay out, because I have a stack of gold squares left from another project. I am not sure on the finished size yet. They have been so much fun to work on. Thank you for another great quilt block! Rebecca S.Isn’t her setting a fun one?
I’ve been working on these for a while off and on – now it’s more ON than off, since other things have been completed and this one is now on 3rd base.
Here are my blocks so far – corralled in the project box I picked up at Michael’s during the after Christmas sales:
They were half price! How could I resist?
((I admit it…I am a sucker when it comes to ANY organizer of any kind! Now if only they would help me really BE organized?))
Tonight I’m sewing on the green Electro-Hygiene!
Only because I haven’t had a chance to switch her out since the LAST time we had Quilt-Cam! This will be the first time I have sat at her since December 28th?! Way too long ---
I’m trying something different so bear with me.
You know we have been trying to find the RIGHT camera angle where everything stays focused. And where my voice isn’t too loud or too soft….and it seems that the BEST ever Quilt-Cams were the in-the-beginning ones where I shot the video from the side…so you can SEE what I’m working on…and I just have to turn a bit when talking to the camera.
Do you want to see what it looks like from my end?
Here we are!
It may not EVER be perfect, because this is not a professional set up, just an old laptop and an external, camera. But I’m good with that ---
And watching isn’t the main thing…it’s supposed to encourage YOU to sew too, so you are more listening than watching on whether things are crystal clear or not!
So let’s sew! Click the arrow on the screen below to start the feed.
Hi Bonnie! Tonight I'm sealing a new stone backsplash hubby just installed and cleaning the kitchen with Quiltcam as company! Fun...well, better than no Quiltcam for company!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! So nice to have Quilt-Cam. My goal for 2014 is a goal for this week---I have to get a top finished and photographed to enter it in my guild show in April---I'm in the Quilters Guild of Brooklyn.

ReplyDeleteYou evil, evil woman! LOL (TOTAL j/k!!!!)
Catching up on blogs while having a late-night pizza meal with the girls, post-basketball game......
And BAM! Here you are with QuiltCam.
Tuning in, but no sewing tonight.
Hi Bonnie! I am catching you live for the first time in quite awhile, but I turn on your reruns almost every time I sew! I am working on finishing my hexigon quilt along Jaybird quilts did a few years back. Putting the top together. Hooray!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI am working on cleaning up my 2" and 2 1/2" square bins by making 4 patch units. There is no rhyme or reason to the method but the 4 patch units are sure looking cute. My Celtic solstice top is don and I am getting ready to baste and quilt it by the end of the month. Thank you for the mystery this was the first one I participated in and I really enjoyed the process.
Hi Bonnie, watching your cam right now. A first timer and loving it. You have such a nice personality, and remind me somewhat of my daughter in N.C. I want to try doing scrappy stuff like you and hope to be able to afford one of your books some day. My friend Jackie Tucker keeps telling me about your cams. I am so glad I made it in here today. I'm just getting back to quilting. Most of my time is spent making big cloth dolls for kids with cancer and other devastating medical problems. Here is the doll site if you ever want to check it out. Let me know if you know of a child my dolls would help. They are 2 foot tall, free including postage.

Hi! Bonnie! So glad that you made it back home and are getting a chance to sew for a while. It sooths the beast with in me so I know how it makes others feel also. you are such a talented person. I Just arrived home from quilting with the girls at my Church. So much fun! .
ReplyDeleteI am working on making a crochet doily using heavier than normal thread. I used the center of the pattern to make doilies for my machines, so now I am going to make the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteVolunteered to help a teacher teach crochet to her class, she forgot to tell me she did not crochet or have a pattern or any class samples! Guess what I am making this week!
I am sitting on the loveseat in the computer room with my feet up. I'm working on the handquilting for hubby's Harley Davidson quilt. (I've only been working on it for 5 years now!) A few more blocks to do and then I can finally put the binding on and BE DONE WITH IT! I'm to the point where I just don't want to see it anymore!
ReplyDeleteTime to move on to newer UFOs!
PLUS, I have two crib quilts to make before May for my daughter.....I'm going to be a grandma of TWINS!
Hi from Georgia Bonnie. I have looked forward to quilt cam all day. I even put a sticky note on my back door to make sure I didn't forget.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about one thing. With so many sewing machines do you have a system for making sure they all get used on some kind of regular basis? I ask this because someone who worked on my sewing machine said that all machines should be run at last once a month, even if you don't really sew on them. I have only 3 machines, and I love to piece, but I still have trouble remembering to use them all. I wonder how YOU manage keeping all of your machines busy!
I am working on strip sets for a Trip Around the World. I like to alternate my cross cuts between squares and rectangles, which makes my trip look just a bit curvey. Wish I could send a photo, but have not yet learned to attach a photo to a comment. Learning more tech stuff is my resolution for this year. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for quilt-cam tonight. I LOVE those stars! Tonight I'm working on adding extra borders to my RRCB to make it fit our king size bed. I have some white strings I made the wrong size during the construction of Jamestown Landing, those and a couple of 2 or 3 inch strips should do it. Deb

Hi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI am sewing some 3 inch blocks with you tonight. They are for a group on flickr called Bitty Block Committee. We swap blocks each month with a different. This month I am working on sewing theme blocks. I am paper piecing a fabric shelf. Hope to see you soon.
Hello from Oregon! While watching you just now I realized that you probably use all types of fabric in your scrappy quilts. (Cotton, cotton/polyester, ect) Is there any type of fabric you try not to put into a scrappy quilt?
ReplyDeleteThank you,
April
Hi, Bonnie: You have inspired me with your Word of the Year, Finish, and tonight I am working on what I hope to be my third finish of the year. I'm using my leftover bits from my tv table "Butler", which was my first finish (I blogged about it here - http://www.ufosandubis.blogspot.ca/2014/01/sunday-stash-report-week-1-of-2014.html Thanks for all your inspiration!

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMy very first time catching you live! Loving it. I am not sure how folks are communicating with you. Also....is this a project we can also read about on your blog? Thank you for being so inspirational.
Kind Regards

ReplyDeleteGood to see you tonight. I'm here in Owego, N.Y. webbing my Split 9-patch blocks. Love sewing along with you.
ReplyDeleteWorking on Celtic Solstice this evening. All blocks are finished and now I'm sewing together the last two rows.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: I understand strips, strings, and scraps. I am a little hazy on the definition of crumbs except s=as they pertain to cookies. When does a piece of fabric descend to the level of "crumb"?
Hi Bonnie! Not sewing tonight, instead I am looking for machine embroidery designs to use in a baby quilt for a new Great-Grandniece that will be arriving in early February. Please give a shout out to a newbie! Leigh Radlein she will be starting her first quilting class next week.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anyone suggested to the poly Piecer to use poly batting. I am not sure how cotton batting will behave. She is an awesome friend!! I would do the very same. Getting ready for guild meeting tomorrow, gotta run . Have a blast.

ReplyDelete!! So glad you had a great family visit. THanks for everything...cam, mystery, the whole shebang! Beth in AZ
you were talking about cutting with scissors in school... to me, it brings back the memories of the smell of the old blue mimeograph paper ink. I LOVED that smell. Also, LOVE the new angle and the feed is great. THANK YOU BONNIE! Jacki in AZ (a certified Bonniac)

Hello, Bonnie! I'm enjoying quilt cam even though I was late getting started. I was out helping my husband pull a calf! All is well with both the calf and mama. I'm hand sewing the binding on a quilt made of triangles for a wedding gift.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad I didn't totally miss you all!!! Cleaning my sewing room -- finished my grandson's Indiana Jones style quilt and getting ready to work on my Celtic Solstice blocks again.
ReplyDeleteLike the new angle for Quilt Cam! It's better to see what your hands are doing and seeing it from your side of the machine. Thanks for squeezing in Quilt Cam tonight.
ReplyDeleteOh!! Archives!!I found them, so tomorrow, while my honey is at the dentist, I will log on and sew....but for now, I need to go to bed!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Much better camera angle! I like to be able to see what you are working on, not just the machine.

ReplyDeleteDidn't mean to delete my comment above.
ReplyDeleteI can't access the archived Quilt Cam from last night, either. I just get the last minute or so.
So sorry to have missed you. I look forward to Quilt Cam, although I am seldom able to catch you live.
I'll try again next time.
I cannot get the archived session to play. Anyone else having that problem?
ReplyDeleteHiya---can't get last nights quilt-cam to play. Keeps showing that it is still "on live".
ReplyDeleteBonnie. I just tried the link on your sight to watch the feed and it WORKS!!!!!!! Don't know if you will see this, but maybe someone who wants to watch it will. Thanks for hosting Quiltcam. You keep me company in my woman cave and keep me on task. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, your site is working now, I'm watching from China
ReplyDeleteNancy
Took a look yesterday at a sweet Singer 66-16. What a treasure. The Quiltcam side view gives a better look at the machine and surroundings. Much better.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, from Cooks Creek, Manitoba, Canada. I am addicted to Quilt Cam! Thanks so much for the effort you put into providing a place for quilters to come to for wonderful quilty fellowship, along with the never-ending tips that you share throughout. I too play the archives in-between new quilt cams. Thanks so much! Linda Craig
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, Watching your Jan 2014 Quiltcam. I recently quilted a polyester around the world, king size, using polyester batting and cotton backing. Quilted it on my Janome 6600 and it turned out beautiful. I don't think that using cotton batting would have been a problem. Quilters choice to use what you want to. I watch your Quiltcams while I quilt too. How can I send you a PM?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda Baker luvmitzy@yahoo.com
