My Blue Heaven, Punta Gorda Style!

FL_Jan2014 043
Yesterday’s class was a great success!

These ladies really know how to have a good time ---they came prepared, strips all cut, machines ready to sew and we were off and running.

I so appreciate their patience while we go through the motions of test seams to find where the seam allowance really needs to be – a huge eye opener to some!

New tools like specialty rulers can always be a challenge and take us out of our comfort zone – but that’s what class is about, right?  LEARNING!

And if you don’t feel the least bit uncomfortable when getting out of your box and trying new things…..then maybe we aren’t reaching far enough.

PUSH those boundaries!  BUILD those skills!

And by the end of class – they GOT it!  Blocks were coming together beautifully, and there loud acclaims of oooh! and ahhh! as blocks were held high for all to see.

And just because the title has the name BLUE in it –don’t think you have to stick with that!  Look at this beautiful red version coming together!

I personally think that it's hilarious that you're doing a workshop on the first quilt of yours that I've ever attempted, and am sewing the rows to each other right now! And the 2nd pattern I printed to make was Pineapple Blossom, which looks so much easier to make once you read the directions! I love quilts that are easier to make than they look!

  4. Looks like fun Bonnie! You are teaching not far from where my SIL lives, I could have flown to Sarasota and become one of your "groupies" Lol! I looked up the 2015 calendar hoping you would be there again but no such luck. The group looks like they were in "high heaven" in the class! Piece on BONNIACS!

  5. First thing I noticed was that everyone has short sleeve shirts on! Oh that sounds so good! Being in the very cold this winter, I long for the short sleeves. But got lots of sewing done while snowed in and cold out. Love all the colors of quilts and looks like everyone is having a blast! Thanks Bonnie for all these free patterns!

  6. As a Floridian, we usually sew in the hot summer months - especially with high humidity - in our air conditioned houses!

  7. I can’t wait to take a paper piecing class and quit trying to teach myself. This class looks wonderful and all the participants are having some WooHoo moments. genie
