iPhone-o-Gram! Cathedral Stars in Sarasota!

Hello from bright and sunny Sarasota, Florida!

I am here with the friendship knot quilters guild for a cathedral stars workshop today with a couple more workshops to follow through the weekend!

I'm sending up a few photos during our lunch break to share our quilty fun with you :-)

You may remember the tri recs unit from Celtic Solstice--

It doesn't look like it – but this is the same Star block set with a different alternate block and placed on point for a completely different look.

I love playing with two block quilts – there are so many things you can do to change the design!

The free pattern for Cathedral stars is found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog –

We've worked on four patches, half square triangles, and our alternate ladder blocks are coming together.

This afternoon we will work with the tri recs units, and our stars will start appearing!

Sending a bit of Sarasota sunshine to each and everyone of you –

Bonnie

  2. Oh! You're making me homesick! I grew up in Sarasota in the 1980's. Sometimes I miss it so much. I didn't appreciate what a unique town it was back then. Sigh! I miss the ocean the most. Have a super day!

  3. About time I get back to CS-still have to make the chevrons and can then put together! Have taken a week or so off to do the New Year's Mystery from Merry Mayhem-too bad I didn't read the directions correctly the first time and had to go back to my cutting board and use more scraps to do the other half of the pieced block! Oh, well, will get there and more fabric from the scrap stash used up!

  5. Had a look on the Internet. Puntagorda is a municipality in The Canaries. Various translations bring up "important point" or "wide point". Spanish.
