Saturday Afternoon—A view from my machine!

This is how it's rolling around here – I am having to force myself to leave the string geese alone for now!

This batting was pieced 2 days ago.  The backing was finished before that.  The top was finished before that.

It’s time to get some quilting on!

I don’t know what it is with quilt patterns and fabrics and threads named after food items --- did you notice that?

Well they roped me in with this thread color called simply “Popcorn”.  It’s the PERFECT shade of yellow. And now I want – you guessed it – POPCORN!

onlongarm1

See the cone of “Popcorn” thread on the machine?

I've quilted this far, and that row of churn dashes is showing up on my back take up bar!

This is occupying much of my day today.

I’m not sure what the plans are around here for this evening – I might be able to throw in Quilt-Cam or I might take the night off to start the binding on this guy --- Oh, PLEASE –let it NOT be any more episodes of “Duck Dynasty!”  DH is so addicted to that show and its like watching a train wreck! – okay –it’s funny…but --- I have a hard time bonding with reality TV.

Will give an update for Yay or Nay as the time rolls around.  Probably by dinner time I will know what's going on around here. Sometimes I just can't plan even 9 hours ahead.

BUT!

I am planning on doing Quilt-Cam tomorrow afternoon ((SUNDAY)) at 2pm Eastern.  Look for me then!

Back to the popcorn and the quilting machine ---

  2. The popcorn thread looks yummy. And the Popcorn pantograph design was a favorite of mine for awhile. I can't see what pattern you are quilting on there but the churn dash and yellow looks fun. Have a happy day!

  4. Get ready...I heard that Duck Dynasty has a Christmas special coming up. LOL I have to admit I like that show, because I have friends and relatives who look, sound, and act just like them.

  7. Oh I too want popcorn...the kind from the movie theater. I am working on "Easy Street" step 3 while selling Christmas trees with my DH. He sells them and ties them down while I take the money and serve cookies. It has been a great day with a lot of Christmas spirit flowing. :)

  12. I love the yellow. It always seems people say "a little yellow goes a long way".... and then I see something like this and realize that yellow is a lovely color in a quilt. Can'to see wait it all finished. Is this one for a future book?

  13. I was introduced to Duck Dynasty over the Thanksgiving holidays. I was a captive audience. First, I was completely horrified. Then, the characters began to grow on me a little bit; which REALLY scared me.

Now you have made ME want popcorn. But, I am encouraged that it is popcorn I want, and not to watch more Duck Dynasty!

  14. Sorry Bonnie, but it looks like A&E has a Duck Dynasty mini-marathon going tonight. Might be a good night to keep sewing! :-P

  17. I thought it was just me ... watched Duck Dynasty one night and got pulled in. Kept sitting there WATCHING this and WAITING for something to develop ... to no avail. What IS it with those reality shows? People don't have their own lives, I guess.

BTW ... I was eating a popcorn ball when I sat down at the computer to see what was on your blog ... and you're walking about popcorn. How serendipitous was that?? LOL

  21. I convinced the lap top to play quilt cam last night. A treat with out all the comercials.
Do not know what I will do as I worked hard outside today to get ready for the cold front tomorrow. You know put insulation on the pipes. Unhitch all the hoses. Make sure the pool is ready for cold. Even more make sure the green houses are ready for the cold. Water all the plants in the greenhouses as they tolerate cold better wet. And all of the vegetables too. Lots of cold tolerant plants there for me to enjoy. Will take time to pick some of the things tomorrow. Like a last couple of tomatoes and some lettuce and radishes too. Even a couple of egg plants.
I wanted to get as much done as possible today so I can watch quilt cam tomorrow afternoon.

  23. Hi Bonnie

Love the churn dash blocks with the yellow. I'm just a bit curious. Why do you have your quilt rolled on the take up bar the "wrong" way. I have recently bought a pre-loved Nolting Fun Quilter on a Hinterberg stretch frame. I have just rated quilting my 5th quilt (and my first big quilt) and I have it rolled the other way. Are you quilting it upside down?

    1. Helen, I believe what you are looking at is the pieced back on a "secret" quilt Bonnie cant make pubic yet... The churn dashes were a blog post a couple of days ago, from borders that didn't work the way they were planned to, so they found a home on the back of the quilt. :)

  25. On my way to make popcorn. I have to say that most of my quilts are named after food. I've a hot fudge sundae quilt, a chocolate raspberry cream quilt and a strawberry chiffon pie (remember those?) quilt.

  26. Hi Bonnie, Sandie and everyone

Thanks for the explanation about the quilt on the frame. Bonnie very kindly replied to my post and here is what I said back:

"Oh!" That explains it What a lovely BACK of the quilt :-) I'll look forward to seeing the front. Thanks for replying.

I am still laughing at myself. I can see some scrappy backs of quilt will have to feature in my future, some time soon :-)

And, oops, that was 'started' my 5th quilt, not 'rated'my 5th quilt
