Can You Stitch A Snowflake?

Do we have any machine embroiderers in our midst?

Have you heard about the Snowflake Drive for Sandy Hook Elementary?

We were talking about it a bit last night on Quilt-Cam ----several sites are offering designs and I went about this afternoon trying to find more information.

I want  to help spread the word about a project proposed by the Connecticut PTSA for Sandy Hook Elementary.  They’re asking for snowflake donations to transform the new school to a winter wonderland for the students.

To help encourage people to donate, Baby Lock has teamed with Designer’s Gallery and Amazing Designs to offer free snowflake embroidery designs to anyone who needs them. The free designs can be found here: http://totallystitchin.net/articles/snowflakes-for-sandy-hook-elementary.

The snowflake request is for any and all snowflakes, so any donation is welcome.
All snowflake donations should be sent by January 12 to:

Connecticut PTSA
60 Connolly Parkway
Building 12, Suite 103
Hamden, CT 06514

For more information, please visit http://www.ctpta.org/SANDY-HOOK-FUND.html

There is also more info on the EmbroideryLibrary.com website HERE.

Words cannot describe the sadness and grief that we felt at the news of the Sandy Hook school shooting. Our thoughts and prayers have been with the community as we struggle to understand this loss.
Recently we learned of a great way to support the community. The PTA will welcome the students to their new school with a winter wonderland, and are asking people to send snowflakes to decorate the school.
If you have spare time this holiday season, please make a few snowflakes with this free lace design. Embroiderers are so generous with their time and talents. We know that together we can fill the new school with snowflakes. Please mail your snowflakes so that they arrive at the PTA office by January 12th, 2013.
Thank you!

And this just in from Vicki T:

Bonnie ~ There is another snowflake on Lindee G's website that's absolutely gorgeous. Hers contains 29 hearts in the snowflake itself. She created it for Sandy Hook and is giving it free at this time.
You can read about her snowflake here and download it the file underneath the picture of the snowflake and her explanation of how she came up with this design.   Click HERE.

Get those embroidery machines stitching and let’s shower them with snowflakes!

    1. Same thing happened here, Subee. Except now the old computer has crashed & I can't think of a way to get any designs to my machine. Don't know if I want to spend the money to upgrade the software.

  2. School children here in the Denver area are making snowflakes out of paper so any material will do.

  6. I'm stitching out some machine embroidery designs, as well as creating some fabric ones with my AccuQuilt Snowflake dies, and also making some with paper, glue & glitter.

  7. I do not do machine embroidery...thought about doing some fabric snowflakes...poked around looking and couldn't find anything tempting...but I did find some great crocheted snowflake patterns...I think I will make some of those.

  8. Thank you for passing this on. I have never done free-standing lace on my embroidery machine, but this is a great opportunity to try it. I did have to order some of the Ultra Solvy, but will start stitching as soon as I get it!!
