Kitty in Camo!

I’ve noticed that Emmy Lou will often be seen coming UP from the basement, but I could never see where she was hiding when she was down here.

Her usual favorite spot, on top of a box in the corner – has been vacant for some time.

She loves dark secluded places.

She is a “Solo Cat” which means she doesn’t like to be around other cats AT ALL and she loves to be off somewhere by herself.

Before our other cat Oscar passed away, her favorite spot was upstairs underneath the guest room bed.

Since Oscar has been gone, she has really come into her own and is much more social in letting us pet her, and she meows back in conversation when you talk to her. She is just HAPPY to the one and only inside cat.

So that brings me to THIS picture…

This is a photo of part of my stash storage ---the wall of “What was I thinking” fabrics. The novelties, the juveniles, the Christmas, some batiks, and a lot of backings with potential. Sorry, it's kind of a mess, but I'd rather sew than straighten in my time home!

In this walk in closet-room are also my rolls of batting, my collection of baskets that aren’t being used, many of my sewing machines on shelves and other quilt paraphernalia.

Yesterday while sitting at my desktop computer, I looked over, and I saw her go into this room. And she didn’t come out.

Take a good look at the picture at the top of this post…do you see her?

Check Closer!

My smart grey striped Tabby has picked the bottom Grey/Black cubbty as her new hiding spot. It’s Kitty in Camo! You can’t see her in here unless you get down on your hands and knees….and LOOK at that piece of black fabric she is on? Eeeeuuurrrghghg!

I’m fine with her nesting there, but I think I need to find a towel to put down over the fabric so she doesn’t make it any worse!

  3. Does she know when you are preparing to leave? My poor dogs do, and they do not like it one bit. We had our daily thunder storm here today, so they have been shivering and keeping very close. Our pets are such a blessing, arent they?!? I think i have a bit of your cats personality. Lol im completely okay being alone. However, it sure is nice to be around friends once in a while. I think this is one reason i love your quiltcam so much. I dont get out a lot, so i have a sewing buddy in the comfort of my own home! Maybe Emmy Lou needs her own quilt cam. Tee hee

  4. My kittie - 3 girls and all insiders - have never met a picee of fabric they didn't like. Right now they seem to appreciate some leftover fleece pieces I've set around for them. I'd clean up the fabrics she's been esting on and put a towel over them so she can continue to be your cammo cat.

  5. She is so well hidden! She has been there few times based on the amount of hair she has left behind :-)

  6. My white cat loves to take up residence on black fabric. Now I just leave a piece out for her to lay on. The only thing she likes better is a pair of black pants.

  7. My two are the same way. If they are not on a quilt on the bed, they are in the sewing room on fabric. They like to hide sometimes. But they mostly sleep on the bed, so I have a small quilt with kitties already on it for them to lay while on my bed....Got to love them.

  8. I thought that black fabric was spiderweb halloween fabaric. haha If Emmy Lou is like mine, she may not like the spot as much with a towel. Maybe it's too rough but mine only likes fabrics - especially flannel or fleece.

  9. Great. She doesn't seem to pleased that you found "her place" though. She might like like the towel bit; mine didn't, so I just roll one of those sticky-roller-thingies over the fabric or quilt to pick up the hair.
HOpe you have a blast in Bali. Next time I will go with you!

Mine like sitting on the Koala and watching out the window because I have a bird feeder right outside the double window. The birds seem to know they are safe and tease the cats.
Please show the cat on the Quilt Cam if she ever comes to join you. Try the sticky roller. That's what hubby uses on ME right before we go out. Threads everywhere evidently.

  11. Smart kitty, she's well hidden! If you put a towel in there, she won't like it anymore and will just choose another spot. You could just wait until you need that fabric and run the lint roller over it then. I'm still finding hair on my fabric from my gray kitty that has been gone for several years. I have a black cat now and he prefers light colored fabric!

  12. Emmy Lou would be very good a playing Hide & Seek....she has the art of camouflage down perfectly. Go over the piece of fabric with a damp sponge & the kitty hair will roll right off.

  13. Mine didn't like the towels I put down so I decided she had earned the right to have her chosen piece of fabric. I just spread that piece out over the rest of them, she's happy and so am I.

  14. How funny!! I wonder if she KNOWS those fabrics are Grey/Black and make good camouflage. We have a dog - so I don't know that much about cats - but I thought they preferred HIGH places - ;))

  15. I agree with Betty above...if you put a towel there...she will just find a new fabric to cuddle on. So face the music my dear...just let that me HER piece of fabric...I think you have plenty more to choose from..LOL

  16. I had to buy Minky for one of our kitties None of the others will nap on it. Kitties and fabric just go together

  17. My Celeste sometimes is in our closet on top of a blanket on one of the shelves. She wishes her housemate Trixie, would disappear. Instead, she hides when possible. My fabric stash is in the basement. Trixie occasional gets into them, but usually chooses a fleece blanket I placed up high, where she has view of the rest of the room.

  18. If I lose my cat in the house, the first place I look is the box of fabric--that now has a big piece of old batting in it, on top of some embroidered blocks in the middle of my cutting table.

    Love joining you on quilt-cam!!!

  20. What's funny is how "color coordinated" she is! Now how did she know that the bin she is nesting in is in her colors? She must be a sewing kitty to boot!

  21. Either use rubber gloves to scrape up the hair or get one of those sticky rollers (either the paper kind or the silicone roller). Then wash the fabric. I am an old hand at kitties in my fabric stash or on my couch protector quilts. LOL We have three - all strays

  22. If your Emmy Lou is like MY EmmyLou, just make up your mind that that bin and those few fabrics are now HERS. If you alter that spot by putting a towel in there, she'll just choose another spot in another pile of your fabrics. After all, if you don't mind her being there, it's no fun anymore!

  23. What a cutie, it must be nice to see her bloom.

I have to say: THAT"S your wall of "what was I thinking fabric"???? It's bright and gorgeous next to my dullards!
