I'm giving those 9 patch strip sets a second try! The hard part is remembering the quilt in my mind, because it went kaput on the computer that is now at Best Buy getting it's estimate to turn into the airlines for reimbursement.
I'm turning on the Quilt Cam for about the next hour or so. If it says "off line" to you that's because I already quit and went to bed!
And I'm hoping that the sound works, even though I'm doing something as monotonous as chain piecing strip sets!

Bonnie....I think I see part of my problem....I am trying to match fabrics and never pick and sew...that might help with more progress!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking this camera needs to go to Bali....oh, how wonderful to live view all that fun!!!
Oh. Goodness. my husband just walked past the computer room and asked...
"Why in the world do you want to watch someone sit and sew when you could be sewing yourself?"
my reply.....ummmmmm it's not just anyone.....it's Bonnie....and its the "learning hour" LOL :-)
This is fun, Bonnie! I keep feeling like I should be able to talk back to you, LOL! I see you changed the angle of the camera a little. This way is better! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, this is SO COOL!!!! I feel like I am part of the jetsons.
ReplyDeleteKeep it coming! I am loving this.
Deb
This is a blast...who knew 4 patches and 'ironing' could be so entertaining...tho I must admit, I kinda feel like a quilting 'Voyeur'...LOL. Thanks for the show Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteHey Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteno, you are not nuts. I don't are what your family thinks. We love watching you and always learn a little something just from watching you.
ReplyDeleteyour family can think you are "nuts"..... we enjoy that you are willing to share your time with us. It is wonderful that you can encourage us in this way
ReplyDeleteI'm a little 'crooked' too...so the plaid bothers me NOT!
ReplyDeleteWow! Your sewing room is huge you lucky girl! :o)
ReplyDeleteBonnie,
ReplyDeleteThis is a lot fun - and even a little creepy! I want to answer you when you ask "who's out there?"!
Bedtime here - we have a saying ... nothing good happens at the sewing machine after 10pm. I just can't focus.
Sleep tight!
Bonnie you need The Cutting gizmo to cut your chain peicing apart.
ReplyDeleteDo you realize how many times you open and close the scissors?
I use mine all the time.

yes but because I've butted strips together, I'm not just cutting thread, I'm cutting fabric too....the purple thing won't work to cut through strips.
DeleteEnjoyed something new on your blog, watching you stitch. I just left my own machine piecing to check on blogs. Stitch away, girl. Stephani in N. TX (Tomazec@aol.com)
ReplyDeleteThis is so much fun! And I'm learning more of your tidbits! I love your being willing to have your webcam on! Who cares if your family thinks you're crazy -- it'll be fun memories for them! Keep up the good work! And thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite interesting to watch you sew. I have already seen things that you do that I could incorporate into my scrap sewing as well. It must be quite weird though, talking to a computer that doesn't respond. Some of us actually talk to ourselves when we sew, but now you have an excuse.
ReplyDeleteI have been keeping strips and wondering how I could use them, and this would really do the trick, especially with how you are putting the third strips on. I had to put you on full screen to really see that! makes me wanna go do strip sets but I MUST finish several really old projects (including one from when I last saw you, at Sisters in '98!)
ReplyDeleteAndrea from Canada
Love it, Go Bonnie Go! Sew Bonnie Sew!
ReplyDeletesound works great!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for inviting us into your world. It feels like I'm sitting in a good friend's sewing heaven and learning at the same time. No...I'm not sewing anything tonite. I had steroid injections in both shoulder for bursitis so I can sit here, watch you and learn (while eating my chocolate lol). You are awesome! Lord Bless You!
ReplyDeleteWe hear you loud and clear...and thank goodness you don't have a chat screen...I fear we'd keep you talking and away from sewing!
ReplyDeleteWe can hear you!!!
ReplyDeletePutting this on while I'm sewing is like sewing with a friend and learning stuff too!
ReplyDeleteWe had 227 viewers! How fun! Thank you so much for keeping me company! I'm going to press these strip sets and head to bed. Goodnight, everyone!
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed you! do you have something on your website that shows what you do different when sewing your strip sets? TTYS
DeleteJudy at hehjude53@hotmail.com
I am so enjoying this as I do some handwork. The sound of a sewing machine is soothing to me. Thanks for inviting us in!
ReplyDelete~Paula~
There is a chat bar to the side of the screen if you tune in through UStream....This is great! Thanks so much, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI finally caught you with the cam on. Loved it. Great to hear you talk. Fun.
ReplyDeleteReally like seeing you on the quilt cam.
ReplyDeleteDarlis
This was better than any show on tv!!! Loved it!! I was talking back to you all the time. I better be careful with this...my husband will suspect I have lost it for good!!!
ReplyDeleteNow I want to sew 9 patches...random 9 patches!!! Have a great night!!
That was ENORMOUS FUN!!! My face hurts from smiling while sewing with you.~ LOL...I keep wanting to talk to you, but delight in your fabrics and descriptions. I heard you well and love your room to sew in. THANK YOU.
ReplyDeleteLucy (in IN)
Bonnie, this is absolutely the coolest thing. I can't wait to see the units you cut from those strip sets and then the finished nine patches! Just wishing we could respond when you wave hello. Thank you for sharing your thinking and tips along the way.
ReplyDeleteHad SOOOO much fun sewing you tonight Bonnie! I was sewed an entire jelly roll (lights/darks together for 4 patches) . Pressed and began cutting them into sets. I sewed several of them. Kept on moving you from the sewing machine, to the cutting board, to the ironing board. Not a long trip, about like what you have, on my iPad. Could hear you fine. You are so "natural" and really motivate me. Thank you SOOO much!~ LOVE IT!~ Great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bonnie...That was fun. And yes, I am sewing along with you. Working on my Civil War Journals quilt. Night!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us watch "from the side of" your shoulder!! (I would say "over" your shoulder, but...!!!) I'm thinking I'd like to sew along with you and try to keep up!!! :-)))

Thanks Bonnie for sharing with us tonight, it was fun. You make me laugh when you look and the camera and ask if we are sewing along...... I can't sew and watch what your doing at the same time:)
ReplyDeleteThoroughly enjoyed this! I even learned something new while watching you. My strip sets don't have to be the same size. Just keep plopping down a set on a strip until you run out and grab another one!
ReplyDeleteOh fun! I got to sew along with Bonnie tonight. I was in front of the TV when I saw you on air for the first time and when you waved, I did too and then looked over and saw my DH looking at me with one eyebrow raised up. Yeah, I probably looked like a lunatic! Sound worked great tonight!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bonnie...That was fun. And yes, I am sewing along with you. Working on my Civil War Journals quilt. Night!
ReplyDeleteThank You Bonnie for putting this live on the computer. I agree with some of the others, I try to be too perfect in color choices and it should be a fun project.
ReplyDeletethank you, thank you.

Soooo much fun to quilt all day & all night long.Like your methods, drive & enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing....
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, Bonnie! Thanks so much for sharing with all of us. It must seem weird talking to the computer and no one responding. But believe me, we enjoy every minute of it. Hope to spend time with you on your next live stream. Goodnite!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt cam!!
ReplyDeleteDo you cut up all of a shirt when you start to use it, or do you keep some of it whole to use when you want two size strips that match?
i finally got to see you in action! i so enjoyed watching and learning. hope i catch you again. loved hearing your voice. thank you for all that you do to help us out here in computer land.
ReplyDeleteYeah!! I got to watch too! This is so fun. My only problem is that I watch on my laptop and with my setup I can't quilt along with you. Will have to figure out how to change that. I'm amazed at how much you accomplish in such a short amount of time. I'll definitely be back.
ReplyDeletePam in Tacoma
I can watch and sew, have my phone under my clear extention table. You are such a petite little thing In my world. Tks. this is fun..!
ReplyDeleteIt worked perfectly tonight. I was cutting up some scraps and set my iPad on the cutting table so I could listen to you and look at the screen now and then. It was like having company in my sewing room. Thanks for joining me.
ReplyDeleteDarn, I missed you!!
ReplyDeleteYeah I got to watch you tonight for a bit. Voice and picture is great and enjoyed the soft music in the back ground. Was disappointed though because you didn't sing! ;) Couldn't watch long because I had to fix dinner but it was fun while it lasted.
ReplyDeleteStella in SoCal
I missed you two nights in a row - AARRGGHH!! - darn internet was messing up on my end. West Coast time difference and all - everyone and their brother must be on at the same time as me - when they should be doing something else 'cuz I want to watch Bonnie!! Could you maybe do a quick and dirty recap in the morning - in words - of the stuff you showed the night before - for those of us who missed it "live"? - Pretty please - ;))
ReplyDeleteI actually watched for about ten minutes last night . . . on my oh-so-smart phone. And then I remembered that last month I went over my data plan and decided that I should watch you on my laptop. So I shut off the phone and headed for the laptop but got distracted on the way. By the time I was on my laptop it said you were 'off air', which you certainly could've been. I am going to have to try and refresh if I get that again, just to be sure. Anyway, I am loving that you are doing this. Missed tonight because I was working, but will keep my eyes open tomorrow before work to see if you do any afternoon quiltcam-ing!
ReplyDeleteCynthia in the metro Portland Oregon area!
I haven't talked back to the screen since Captain Kangaroo. That was fun.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the Bunny Rabbit! Good Morning, Captain!

ReplyDeleteBonnie I LOVE your thoughts on the quality of fabrics!! Good info!
ReplyDeleteYES I love it. This is very inspiring for me...Please keep it up. Happy sewing.
ReplyDeletePat
I love hearing you give tips and answer emails while you work. Lots of fun quilting along with you.
ReplyDeleteArlette in NY
Arlette from NY again -- I attended one of you lectures at the Somers quilt show! I adopted your Scrap User System last year and got even more inspiration after hearing you speak. I'm a fan! Also loved your photos of the antique quilts you saw during your visit to New Paltz. That's a beautiful part of the state.
ReplyDeletethank u sooo much Bonnie.
