iPhone-O-gram! Blue ridge parkway!

I am taking a minute to let this overlook view calm my nerves.

Yes, I've gone and done it again---on my effort to travel the byways instead of the highways---I turned off a 55mph road onto a 45mph road and got nailed for doing 57 in a 45!!! Oh I am so mad!!!! *sigh*

Maybe it is safer for me to fly?? However, Virginia is still beautiful and I'll pay the fine, even if I'd rather be spending it on fabric!!

I guess it's true that I drive like I sew!!

Signed Ever Quiltingly,
Bonnie

your beautiful drive. It's history now all you can do it learn from it and move on....at the speed limit :0).

  2. Sigh....those tickets are the pits..

One ticket I remember more than others and it was a long time ago...I was taking my daughter, then a senior in HS to Houston for her French Horn lesson..I was pulled over less than a mile from our house for speeding...that was bad enough with her as a witness, but after the officer left, she looked at me and asked, "Do you want me to drive?"..... I did allow her to grow up and she is now in the DC Navy Band playing her French Horn....

  3. sometimes it is hard to catch the speed limit signs when you turn off onto a new road - take a breath and have fun.

  4. Well you can just blame it on the awesome beauty of the parkway distracting you from watching the speedometer. Sounds possible to me, since I think the BR Parkway is one awesome place!

  5. Bummer...they probably have a good place to get travelers like you. We have a stretch of road here that has different speed limits depending on the direction you are traveling! $$$ for the city!
You are just getting used to Shamu too. New ones travel so smooth!
    XOXOXO Subee

  11. A ticket can sure put a damper on your day...and your mood. Hope it doesn't for you. Can you write the cost of the ticket off as a business expense?? :) It reminds me of a time about 20 years ago when my sister took over driving my new car on a trip and she got pulled over for speeding. Usually she would just bat her eyes at the officer and get out of the ticket but not this time...it was a female officer and those big blue eyes and blonde hair had no influence on her whatsoever. As she pulled away she said...it must be the small tires on your car making the speedometer not read correctly! I suppose tire size might have something to do with it, but not 25 mph over the speed limit! At that time she was known for her "pedal to the metal" driving style. I'm happy to report as we've gotten older, she's slowed down considerably. Hope the rest of your day goes much better!

  12. Hey, if you get a speeding ticket while on a business trip, can you write it off your taxes as a business expense? ;)

Good luck with that one and have fun on your trip!!!

  13. Oh Shamu! Just get her there safely!!!

  14. I once got a ticket on the back roads of Virginia...my ONLY ticket EVER!!!! They just aren't very busy and they love those speed traps. ;-) Have a safe (and ticket-free) remainder of your trip!

  15. I hate when that happens, it sure puts a kink in a beautiful day. Guess you should use the cruise control when on the open road. I like the idea that it could be written off as a business expense. Hope the rest of your trip is fun and easy going.

  16. I'm so sorry you got a ticket in my neck of the woods. I live just a few miles from this wonderful view. And yes, you can get a citation rather easily in this area. Done it myself, too. Take a couple of deep breaths and think, 'this too shall pass'. Be safe and enjoy the rest of your trip. If you come back this way and need a respite, I have a spare room with a Bernina already setup for you. Gail in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where it is a little too warm today.

  17. Be glad it was only a ticket, remember it always could have been worse. You could have been doing 25 over the limit, or you could have gotten 4 flat tires in the middle of no where, or worse yet, you could have hit a cow and wrecked Shamu! So smile at the little ticket, at least it wasn't the end of the road trip or the world. :D

  18. Thanks for sharing about the ticket. You could of kept that to yourself (I'm smiling as I type). That ticket scenario would so be me! I use cruise control a lot for that very reason! But as several have already noted, it could of been worse. Praying for safe, enjoyable travels for you!

Thanks for the view--that and lots of deep breathing should help.

  21. The only reason I never got a ticket in Virginia is because I had a police scanner and knew where the DH was working that day - I would go the other way. HeHeHe Sorry, but those Virginia State Police are everywhere - I guess it was a State STrooper doing the writing. Judy C

  22. I forgot to add - you will always remember your trip to Danville. Be careful around Charlottesville. Judy C sends safe travels.

  23. Ooo and nailed on the parkway! I am usually to busy looking at the scenery to barely go the speed limit!
