Today has been filled with an abundance of simple pleasures –
Who would think that something as simple as a new burnt orange purse for fall could give a girl a new lease on life?
But the simple pleasure of cleaning out my old purse, throwing a bunch of stuff away – and putting the new minimized contents into my new purse has the same effect as lifting heavy weights off of my shoulders.
It makes me wonder if I should get a new purse more often!
The last purse I have had for over a year and a half – it was looking tired, and I love the brilliant fall color of this one :-)
Thank you, Sams club!
My evening is also full of other simple pleasures – like a simple meal of homemade chicken soup, baked acorn squash, and cornbread while watching the clouds turn pink over the horizon as the sun sets.
Simple pleasures, indeed – but they are only pleasures if we slow down and take a moment to notice them.

ReplyDeleteI love this purse too!! It's soft leather and Iove this color!!
ReplyDeleteThat was always the way my DH liked his acorn squash..a little butter and brown sugar. Looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteSimple and colourful, delicious and beautiful, all to be enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteLove the purse, size and color, and your dinner!! My kind of meal. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your blogs, phonograms, and inspiration. So glad I finally found you, and I now understand why I keep all of those fabric "scraps." haha One of my goals is to tame my scraps and my stash, a little at a time, and thanks to you I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Quick question: in one of your photos of your sewing space, think it is at your home, I noticed a "need" for me = a lovely gooseneck desk lamp situated to the right of your machine. Aging eyes seem to need more light on the sewing and you have the perfect solution. Would you mind sharing the source? I have been looking but I do not seem to be successful in finding one like yours. My eyes would deeply appreciate it. TIA
Enjoy the peace, the beauty, the sewing, and renew yourself.

Pam--I think Bonnie got that light at IKEA. If it's the one I remember, she has mentioned quite a few times on quilt-cam about it. I also think it comes in two models, a clip on and one with an actual lamp base. Hope that helps!
DeletePam, I bet you're thinking of the IKEA lamp. Bonnie has a link under Tips & Techniques called IKEA Lamp where she talks about it.
DeleteLeslie and Andresa = Thank you so much!! I have just found Bonnie these last 2 weeks, where have I been!!! LOL She has filled my mind with so many great tips and ways to use that mounds of stash and scraps that I have, I am so thankful to her and everyone that contributes to her blogs. The quilting community is such a giving and gracious community.
DeleteAnyway, I was sure someone would be able to help me out. Thanks again. I will check that out. Blessings to you and to all.
Pam

......sigh............ What a great place to be!!
Love, Ria.
That view is magnificent! Love your new purse. I am not a huge lover of shoes but I am crazy about purses. That orange is gorgeous. I understand completely how a new bag makes you feel. A new bag always makes me feel like I have the world by the tail!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I am so delighted for you that you have your mountain cabin and are taking some time just for yourself to enjoy. You keep such a busy, busy pace and I know you are savoring every minute of this. May there be many more times like this for you in all seasons!

I'm a Vera Bradley purse and tote addict. I have many of them and change with the season. They are affordable and durable but most of all very quilty.
ReplyDeleteYour last line made me think of something I saw on a recent blog.....she said, "I didn't look at the time......I took my time." I love that! Nice purse, too! :o)
ReplyDeleteCute purse - orange is fabulous! I am absolutely addicted to handbags and change the one I'm carrying every few days to rotate through the collection. To carry the same one for a year and a half would be impossible for me.
