Grand Illusion Graphics!

img1420088789476
Happy 2015!  It’s Here!

The Reveal to Grand Illusion Mystery happened at Midnight, EST LAST NIGHT!

Are you excited about it?  I know I am.

I’m as nervous as can be hoping you will like it, going over everything just ONE MORE TIME before  the ball drops, hoping I didn’t screw up somewhere along the line.

The block was originally named Big Bang, a block I did for a previous issue of 100 blocks by 100 designers for Quiltmaker Magazine.  I loved doing this block and knew I wanted to play with it, and putting it in the mystery was the perfect way to break it down!

I think it was the sashings that threw everyone off…and I love that!  I try to keep things scrambled enough that although some will come close, not everyone will figure it out before the reveal.

And it wasn’t easy with a mystery that was deemed to be “Easier than the others we’ve done”.

I hope we succeeded!

I want to thank Forest Jane for once again doing our graphics.  Feel free to save them to your computer and use them on your blogs and social media.

Did you know we have a ZAZZLE store for Quiltville items?  Click HERE!  Forest Jane uses all proceeds from this small store to purchase batting and backing for charity quilts, so your purchases go to a great cause.  We may all have scraps for donation quilt tops, but we also know that backings and battings can be the bigger part of the expense when making many quilts to donate.

Forest Jane, I must say is a trooper.  She sent me the graphics the night before having surgery.  She will probably add the Grand Illusion items to the zazzle store as she is recovering, so give her a chance and check back.  If she lets me know when she has them added, I will include that info in a future post!

I’m off to teach a Bow-Dacious class at Fabric Fanatics in Plano!

Love you guys ---

  3. I will be so over joyed with this quilt, it is turning out to be totally awesome. I can not begin to thank you enough for this mystery quilt. And to be honest, i am not a scrappy quilter, yet this is the thrid scrappy quilt pattern of yours i have made, first one was Jared takes a wife, and your second one was star struck with my own twist on it, finally during the mystery quilt challenge i cut out blocks to make the 2000 block Millenium Mania quilt soon. So thank you Bonnie for all you do, your amazing.

  5. Yes, Bonnie, you did fool us! Since you had said this quilt was going to be easier, I thought that the green squares units were going to be the borders or the sashings. However, I couldn't imagine a quilt that was so easy to stitch would be so beautiful! This quilt is so lively and happy. Thanks so much. I'm one really happy quilter today! Happy New Year!!

    Greetings from a grey,stormy
    and rain swept Ireland.
Thank you for a happy lovely
quilt pattern Bonnie, your the image of your Dad.
You may get your inspiration for
2015's mystery from your trip to
Italy especially when you see the
    tiled floors in churches. Some
of these floors are over 2,000
years old. Bonnie, may you and yours and everyone enjoy a healthy
safe and happy 2015. Sheila C

  11. Happy New Year! The quilt is just beautiful! When I saw the fabric colors I wondered how they were going to balance out but it works so well, and the black is what makes it sparkle, just as you said. I'm going to try them using the orange crush pattern. I hope this year is full of joy for us all.

  21. What a wonderful surprise!

Count me as one of the folks surprised. I KNEW that those green pieces were going to be in the border. LOL.

Thank you for so generously sharing your gift with us, Bonnie. Your time and talent mean more to many of us than we have words to say.

    Peace and Joy,

Bonnie, this is my friend Christi and my first mystery to do of yours as it was printed. We went with your colors based on liking your other mysteries and free patterns. You rock as a designer and this is one of your best. Two clues you let drop--the repeat picture of the geranium on each installment and the fact that geraniums come in many shades of pink had me guessing you were designing some type of floral quilt--but I would never have come up with something this good. Congratulations and thank you. Happy New Year and wishing you the best for 2015. Ivy at ivycottagequilts@hotmail.com

  32. You know, I think this Mystery Quilt is a very clever quilt design....Bonnie has managed to make a quilt that looks as though only a very experienced quilter could possible make, but whilst we all had to learn to be careful and to pay attention to basic principles........it was made from 'beginner' shapes. Very ingenious design!!!! IMO Happy New Year Bonnie from Kathryn

  33. Happy New Year, Bonnie. Thanks for another great pattern. Would it be possible to obtain graphics for previous mystery quilts? Somehow I don't have them. Perhaps they could be made available in the Zazzle store...Would love to add them to labels.
