Galaxy-Gram! Lunch in LAX!

Hello from Arizona!

It was an early 6am shuttle ride to DFW on a flight that took me a bit out of my way with a layover at LAX before continuing on to Phoenix.

Hexies happened. Lots of hexies!   I am deep into audio books while I fly--into part 2 of Tandia by Bryce Courtenay.

Photos from the air are favorites.

And I had a celebrity sighting of my own at an eatery near my gate at LAX: Gene Simmons!

Right in front of me. I'm standing there waiting to be seated and I know I know thus guy,  but where from?

I asked if I could have a photo,  and he said sure,  but I'm not interesting enough to put down the cell phone for,  obviously. Lol!

And yes,  his cell phone has a KISS phone cover. Ha!

Phoenix is lovely. Dad picked me up at the airport, and we are enjoying a quiet evening before I teach for the Arizona Quilters guild in Chandler tomorrow.

Oh yes,  and then there is laundry...
This bird is a bit tired but happy to be where the sun shines!

  1. If only Mr. Simmons knew he was standing by a famous quilter!

  2. I was waiting for a flight to visit my daughter in England a few (ok, 10) years ago, and Spike Jones was waiting for the same flight. It was the same "don't I know this guy" experience, but I didn't have a cell phone with a camera to prove that I saw him!

  3. My star airport sighting was Kenny Chesney in the Nashville airport. Of course, in Nashville we see stars every day!

  4. I must be travelling on the wrong planes, the only famous person I ever shared a flight with was a former British cabinet minister (fortunately one that I liked!)

  5. If he only knew how famous you were!

  6. Hi Bonnie

  7. A few years ago my husband and I were at the airport getting ready to come home from a January anniversary getaway in Key West, Fl. I looked up and saw this man that I thought look so familiar, but couldn't place him. It finally dawned on me a few minutes later that it was James Taylor. My husband came upon Taylor Swift filming a video on the lake while he was fishing and has even talked to Reba while fishing around the docks at her home. As Libby said in post we do see stars quite often in Middle TN.

  8. Gene Simmons needs to google "Bonnie K. Hunter" then he'd know that he was also in the presence of a celebrity and should've put his phone away! My little hometown is the hometown of country music star Steve Wariner and former Miss USA Tara Conner so we even have a few celebrity sightings.

  9. I'm a big fan of audiobooks. Right now listening to Elizabeth Gilbert's "Signature of All Things." So far, very good. And I just finish the third in Ken Follett's trilogy about the 20th century (name escapes me) read by John Lee, one of my favorite readers.

    Enjoy Phoenix!

I just love following you around the country bonnie, you are just too much!!! The expression on your face with Gene is adorable and he kind of looks like a poster or "blow-up man"!!! Even better are the hysterical comments by your readers... I have had more than a few chuckles today reading them! Have fun in Arizona, one of my favorite places Carolyn Barnett

  18. For about ten years, Robert Redford docked his boat in our little marina on Lake Michigan,,,he was really nice, just a regular person,,,he liked the perch dinners in my favorite restaurant. I was too shy to talk to him, tho.

  21. Could you imagine his surprise if a bunch of Quilters showed up and instead of gathering around him they all flocked to Bonnie? Bet he would have forgotten his phone then. The look on his face would be priceless. Guess the celebrity depends on your audience. I would much rather see you Bonnie than him.

  22. It sure looks rude of Mr. Simmons not to at least look at the camera and smile for one second... Harumph.

  23. Famous people they come with all sorts of attitudes!! I am not sure I would be able to even ask for a pic. But then again not many stars are in Northern Ontario!!! Happy travels!

  24. Bonnie, you crack me up! How did you think you "knew" this guy? Doesn't KISS always perform in full make-up? And he's certainly not a "looker". LOL My husband would have picked him out, but you?! Maybe you read a lot of star magazines standing in line to purchase water bottles in airports. :) Keep having fun and a great day too!

Gene Simmons may be a rock star in the music world, but Bonnie Hunter is a rock star in the quilting world, and we all know which one we'd rather reside in!!!

  27. Ooooo!! Northern Ontario... No celebrities... "brisk" weather like Wisconsin... sounds like a great place to live!
