Orca Bay Day with the Garland Guild!

20150104_150937
Holy String Piecing, Quilt Girl!

What a fun scrappy mess was made at Fabric Fanatics in Plano, TX

They came with all of their stuff – oh, so much stuff!  Reds and blacks and blues, and other color combos too, eager to put their Easy Angle Rulers and Companion Angle Rulers to good use!  Anxious to try their hand at the fun fun fun mess of string piecing and adding all of the units together in a quilt!

Our thanks go to Fabric Fanatics for providing the workshop space for the guild to hold this class.

Orca Bay was our mystery a few years back and the pattern is now found in my book String Fling.

Orca Bay, Plano, TX 2015

I moved up to McKinney last evening after our Orca Bay workshop was done.  I crashed for a 2.5 hour nap and stayed in.  I worked on some hexies while watching Downton Abbey – did you catch it?  This season is off to a good start!  No spoilers please!

Much love from McKinney!

  1. Looks like sew much fun ! I have not made that one "yet" :) Was back to work today for me. I was curious if you have been able to use your new bluetooth headset yet that you got and if you like it ? I am not happy with what I have and if you like them that is good enough for me :)

  2. Yes, yes, yes, I watched Downton Abbey last night and taped it as I watched so I can go back and see if I missed any of the nuances. Every single theme from last year was touched on. So titillating!

  4. I love that quilt! This makes me want to make it more than I already wanted to. I need to collect a few more blacks and I'll be ready. Looks like a fun workshop.

  7. It was so much fun being with you and my friends working on this project. Thanks for coming to Dallas/Plano/McKinney. I hope you didn't get too tired out but I'm sure glad you made the trip. I look forward to seeing you next year. I'll be busy working on Grand Illusion and Orca Bay and maybe I'll have them to show when you come back to Dallas again. Have a safe trip back home.

  8. Bonnie I love seeing posts about your classes, everyone, even those unaware the camera is on them are always smiling there must be a lot of fun to be had.
Here in the UK we've seen the latest series and were treated to a Christmas special. Like 1000's of others I really enjoy DA and am always eager for a new series. You have a wonderful treat in store, enjoy :)
