It Felt Like a Sleep In…..

Cabin_March2014 062
It felt like a sleep in, but it wasn’t!

The clocks jumped forward an hour last night!  Did you remember to set yours?

I treadled and treadled and finished the string piecing I needed for my sashings.  Actually --- I over pieced! LOL!

There is much more than I need, so there will be something fun to use somewhere else, perhaps in the backing for this quilt ---which is growing VERY LARGE, which is typical for me.  Oh well, big quilts are where it’s at for me so I just keep on going.

Funny thing, you would think that large quilts would use more fabric.  These sashings did not even begin to make a dent.  The bin is as full as it ever was.

Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

I think it is a FUN THING!

This is where we are this morning!

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with the cornerstones, but low, and behold – there was a stack of 3.5” squares just sitting here on the cutting table from last weekend’s Lozenge cutting session ---and there was a scrappy enough mix to just deal them out like a deck of cards.

How is that for serendipity?!

No pieced cornerstones are needed.  The sashing is so busy, as are the blocks, the bigger one-piece cornerstones give a nice shot of color and a place for eyes to rest.

I love how the light sashings make the stars pop and shine.

You can find the free tutorial for the Wonky Wishes block by clicking the Free Patterns tab at the top of the blog.

Not sure on borders yet ----but my goal is to get this top sewn together today.  And with the beautiful weather in store, go for another hike this afternoon.  And who knows what else.

This morning’s view from the upper porch at Quilt Villa!

“Springing Forward” is always the first real sign to me that Spring is, indeed on the way – even if it seems slow to get here.  I LOVE it when the daylight lasts much longer.  I feel energized and able to do so much more in my day!

Have a great Sunday, no matter how you spend it!

  6. Looks great! Your view is gorgeous from Quilt Villa. I'm glad the walk/hike is in your plans. Don't work too hard. Is Sadie with you up there?

  7. The quilt and the view are both devine. You never seem to do anything wrong when it comes to scraps. I think my problem is I think too much before putting colors together. Maybe I should just go for it and see what the outcome is.

  17. What a gorgeous quilt! Yes, the strippy scrappy light sashings really do make the stars show up. Now, about the comment on how warmer weather helps you feel better so you can get more done - How could you get more done?! You do way more than anyone else I know; in fact, I don't know how you get as much done as you do. You must be the Energizer Bunny. Looking forward to warm weather too.

  27. Oh WOW! Beautiful quilt! When you were working on the lattice I thought it would be too busy. Boy was I wrong. I guess that is why you're the quilt designer and I'm not! Love the view from the cabin.
