TaDa Quilters & TaDa Moments!

This was Saturday evening - and oh, what a fun day Saturday was!

So much happened over the weekend (And then there was the PDF pattern release and gift-Away for Crazie Mazie YESTERDAY) that it will take me another couple of days to post it all!

The weather had been phenomenally cool - and I am so happy that quilters were able to get out and do either road hikes or take my park pass up to the park to see the ponies without me.

And the Hubster's plan to shoot in an archery tournament on Saturday freed me up to invite myself to dinner on the porch, and some early evening photo ops with the sun filtered behind the clouds -

The quilts and ladies photographed so well!

This section of Quiltville mysteries!

Awesome job, ladies!

Tulip Time,  a Carpenter's Wheel, and a lovely strawberry Double Wedding Ring.

Sand Castles from String Frenzy!

Which reminds me - I need to have The Hubster cut down that volunteer walnut tree that is now photobombing whomever is hanging quilts in that last section of the porch.

Or maybe replant it somewhere?

Dinner on the porch was YUMMY!!

Is it a salad?  Or is it DESSERT!?

Raspberry pretzel SALAD may be called a salad, but it's dessert in my book.  Oh yum yum yum!!

It was a wonderful visit!!

Next time, stay longer!

The dogs were left "HOME ALONE" so I was only away for 90 minutes or so....but in true dog fashion:

What is all of this white fluff all over the living room floor?  Mabel Mayhem, did YOU do this???

Zoey Jo!  (Hiding in her crate)  Did YOU DO THIS?!?

Oh my goodness!

It seems they thought I needed help trimming the excess batting margin away from the quilt top.

Luckily they were stopped by the basting stitches and only could shred so far.

No hexies or backing were harmed in their helpfulness.

No batting was swallowed - it was just scattered in small fluffs all over the living room floor.

I really wish I had wifi up here (We live by cell data only as we are unreachable) so that I could have this RECORDED.

And when all was said and done, it was *I* who left it out on the couch where they could reach it.

I was the one who didn't put it away.  It's all on me.

I went for x-rays yesterday.

While things are healing, it's not going as quickly as I want it to.

The boot needs to stay on for another 4 weeks.  Activity is still limited.  Much resting and elevating is still suggested.

This is so NOT ME!

But there is an upside - the tight bandage/wrap and sleeve got to come off, so I now have a BARE FOOT which means I can shower without the plastic thing on my leg.

This also means that I can soak in the hot tub.

The bones are healing.  The tendons and ligaments may take a bit longer.  The nerves are NERVY. There are tingles and spots of numbness - but it is all going to take time.

So we keep on keeping on and taking it easy and doing things in a more minimal way.  Which is not how I'm used to doing things.

There has got to be life lessons in all of this, right?

In the mean time:

It's finally time - Crazie Mazie PDF Pattern release time, that is!

And here we go into another day.  What do you have on your plate to tackle?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

The original version of this was posted back in 2016 and had number 2 as "Observing others."
I don't think the problem is in observing, really - it's when comparison enters in that the problem begins.
Comparison is an either greater than or lesser than type of thing and judgment enters in.⁣
That's where the danger lies!⁣
And when gratitude follows, make sure that gratitude isn't just being grateful that you have more or better than someone else.
Just some thoughts on a random rainy Tuesday!

  1. What a marvellous quilt show! These quilters outdid themselves!

  2. My dog, who looks a lot like Zoey, is guilty of the same kinds of escapades to entertain himself when I'm gone. His recent favorites: burying my shoes in his crate or the couch, and unrolling (and eating) toilet paper. Grrr. But it's my own fault for not better dog-proofing the house before I leave!

  3. Gasp! I was wondering about Mabel's big ball of fluff, and then I saw the photo of the hexie quilt, and my heart skipped a few beats. Whew! That was a close call! So glad the damage wasn't critical. That would have been heartbreaking.

It's good to hear that your injury is healing well, if not quite as quickly as you might prefer. I hope things continue to improve steadily!

  4. Oh my, the different pics of the two dogs is hilarious. The look on Mabel's face is 'what - what are you talking about?' and Zoey - she KNOWS they are in trouble, and perhaps she even tried to stop it....but couldn't help by stopping either of them. Much like an older sibling with more experience in charge of littles....knowing that either way, the older was going to be in trouble...I have experience lol.

  8. Beautiful over the Porch Quilts! Today is Free Day at my hometown Fair. Anniversary of our 1st date 46 years ago. Maybe? It gets farther away from where I am it seems. Long drive fir a short visit and a Spaceburger. My favorite taste of Summer. Pretzel salad, yep, it's a fruity concoction, salad/dessert. Whatever you wish! Happy Tuesday.

  12. The reality is we just don't heal as quickly as we age. Temper your impatience and take advantage of all the willing volunteers who surround you and are only too happy to help. I'm glad the dogs didn't damage the hexies or backing.

  13. Glad you are on the mend! Even though age makes us heal slower it also gives us the wisdom to know to hold back to get to the desired result. Glad the pooches did not eat the batting.

  14. Beautiful quilt show! The healing process can be frustrating sometimes. Sorry for you! Been there done that!

  15. Pretzel Salad !!!! I have been thinking about it alll summer. Had never heard of it until I came to Pittsburgh. Beautiful quilts too!

  16. Oh, I can just envision the dog happiness going on while you were away! But so glad nothing on the actual quilt was damaged.
So hard for goers and doers to be sidelined. But that is good news that you can shower with a bare foot now. It is a pain to keep those things dry and still get clean!
