Sunshine, Stitch Mob & Quilts!

This is the kind of scene I will remember all winter long.

Just the right amount of afternoon sunshine, blue sky and puffy summer clouds.

But of course, the quilts are center stage!

"What if we have too many for the rails?" asks one quilter.

No problem!  We give you opportunity to switch them out and take more photos.

SHARE IT ALL!

Pineapple Blossom and Fourth of July from the Free Patterns tab, followed by a lovely string star and a Bear Branch top finish in Christmas Colors!

Grassy Creek is ready for borders, followed by Hand Me Downs from Scraps & Shirttails and a vibrant chevron variation.

A wonderful tee shirt quilt top came together while on retreat, and a star variation in gorgeous summer colors is right next to it. ( I don't have pattern info - if you know, put it in the comments please!)

Blue Ridge Beauty from Adventures With Leaders & Enders is now a top, and a GORGEOUS On Ringo Lake, quilted and bound!

A happy Sawtooth Star and Garlic Knots!

Unknown pattern on the left, ad a classic log cabin top on the left!

Wonderful!

Two more tee shirt quilt finishes!

I love this exploding star in African fabrics so much!

THAT PURPLE!

Oh! I can see the gorgeous quilting from here!

This was Robin's first retreat - and look what she finished!

Nothing slows Chiquita down - she was pedal to the metal all weened and also finished this top, made with the Fourth of July pattern from the Free Patterns tab.

Kelly and her wonky vintage nine-patch!

I love this one so much - yes, the edges are NOT straight.  It's the accidental improv!

Kelly rescues tops from antique malls, thrift shops and yard sales and finishes them by long arm.  She didn't want to cut off the wonky nine-patch blocks at the edge, so she quilted and bound it "as is" wonky edges and all.

It is so much more fun this way!  For a recap - Here is a close up:

What does it take to get quilters in shape for group photos?

There needs to be some kind of soundtrack playing for this! LOL!

And there they are in all of their glory.

TADA!!

Oh, ladies! Thank you for such a wonderful retreat! And thanks to Jessica for inviting everyone to spend her birthday week with her and allowing me to join in too.

Yesterday was a day of rest for me.  Laundry was mostly finished on Monday so it was a much slower paced day.  I needed it.

There is MUCH sewing behind the scenes happening - because September arrives tomorrow, and you know what happens by Halloween?  Oh, my goodness.  Just wait!  This year's mystery season is going to be SEW MUCH FUN!

I CAN give you this sneak peek -

This is the backing for my star quilt using the upcycled shirt fabrics - you'll see the front in good time.

Yes, that is a reject block in the center - it's going to be fun there. Just wait until you see the front.

  1. As always, gorgeous quilts! I absolutely love the brown and white one! Looks like a variation of a Hunter's Star. Anyone know the pattern name?

    1. I like that one, too, Pam. I had to look it up. It's a variation on a LeMoyne Star, but I haven't found the exact star-in-star version name yet.

  8. I don't know which I enjoyed more, seeing those gorgeous quilts or the smiles on those gorgeous quilters! Thank you, Kelly for rescuing the left-behind quilt tops and keeping the wonky edge on the 9-patch. And thank you to you, Bonnie for your sunny outlook on life. As my sister used to say, "Smile. It makes people wonder what you've been up to!"
