Rest and Restore, They Said!

Have I introduced you to my nap patrol?

They set a good example several times a day reminding me to get that leg elevated and "Take a Load Off!"

While Zoey loves to wiggle her way up into the pillows, Mabel prefers to be at the foot of the bed - SIDEWAYS.

I honestly don't know how I would have survived all of this without them.

And now that I am getting around better, it's wonderful to see their excited faces when I come through the door after welcoming new arrivals to Quiltville Inn!

The Naughty Room Quilters of Illinois are in the house, and we have a great week planned ahead!

Yes, Yes we are!

Custom cookies made by a retreater's talented daughter!

And the SHIRTS!!

I love how each group has it's own vibe and personality - and the lengths they go to to build up the excitement of their stay here just pulls me right into their fun.

While I waited for their mid-afternoon arrival I was busy with my recycled shirt stars project!

The more ridiculous the fabric combinations, the more I like them!  I only have a handful more blocks to surround and then I can start the layout process.

I'm slow.  the whole process seems very dragged out.  Pre-accident I would have had these kicked out in no time - but I'm trying to cut myself some slack here.  Rest.  Elevation.  Recliner time with foot up.

Lola, the Scrap Compactor hard at work.

Making sure those 1 1/2'' scrap squares don't multiply and reach the top of the bin.

I also cut some more background pieces for our current Triple Treat Leader & Ender challenge.  Short Strips are going DOWN, Baby!  Charm Squares too.

How is yours coming along?  I've seen several in our Quiltville’s Open Studio group in different color plans and they are all WONDERFUL!

Good job, Lola Girl!

And just because I'm feeling a little bit silly today -

As seen at our local Corner Market after touring Grace Haven Farms the other day -

Did they pre-coordinate with the intent of matching the hearth décor, or was it just sheer luck?

"You sit here, June - that way your shirt will blend right into the flag stripes."

"Sally, your blouse is quite star-spangled as well, you know!"

We giggled and giggled.

This probably explains our whole irreverence:

That's it!  We are both over 60 and just allowing our inner swamp witches to take control.

No malice intended to the flag blenders - it was just a fun observation.

I'm heading over to the Inn as soon as this posts and check in with the Naughty Room Quilters and see just how naughty they've been.

MOST were there by the time I headed home last evening, but there were some later arrivals I haven't welcomed yet.

The sun is shining beautifully this morning after last night's rain.

Today's forecast is for a high of 71 degrees, partly cloudy, mostly sunny, with a high chance of quilty shenanigans happening!

What do you have going on for your own Thursday today?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

I watch so many folks struggle over things not being absolutely 100% perfect.
This impossible reach for perfection can steal the joy out of so much of our daily lives including our quilting.
Don't go there! Don't beat yourself up!
Life is perfectly beautiful because it is not perfect!

  1. Today's quote is perfect as usual, working on my Quilt for Ukraine and wanting perfection and it's not happening, will continue on anyway thanks to your message. Love your positive attitude, grateful for you. Does Zoey still do headstands? Your animals are so precious.

  2. I'm taking a detour into the world of sewing- making a mermaid skirt for a friend's granddaughter. I haven't "sewn" in probably 10 year so this is taking me back! Thanks to the internet there are lots of helpful, free patterns.

  3. On this day in 1920 Women got the vote!!!! Yay, let's keep showing our appreciation to our foremothers. I'm meeting quilty friends for lunch we've been together since 1998 almost 25 years. We all have quilted but now everyone has other hidden talents that shine. We always do a show and tell and lots of laughter. Thanks for sharing nap/foot up shots, I never was a good napper, I can't sit still for long. LOL

  4. sweet Lola! does anyone else speak to your photos of your animals? Like, "Good Morning, Mabel!" or "Lola, you are so pretty today!" I always greet my own, but really a photo of Bonnie's furbabies? LOL... speaks to the clarity and purity of those beautiful faces... and yup! i say hi to some of Bonnie's pics and some of the retreaters... yes, i know i'm speaking to my computer!!! maybe that's the result of so much solitary sewing... i talk to my machine and sometimes the fabric!!! Joy in this world, it's not perfect, neither is it fair... i hadda chuckle, as a youngster "It's not fair!" was one of my frequent complaints about life, and my parents shook their heads and agreed with me, trying to teach what a hard lesson life has some times... too much rattle on, i need to find a long arm quilter in the No. County San Diego area, please Facebook me ifyou have a recommendation Covid has turned us all into prolific creators and the quilters are back-logged til October!! Thanks, Cats in Carlsbad CA

    1. Cats, you are not alone! I talk to Bonnie's sweet babies all the time! How could you not? They are just precious! And, of course, you talk to you're when quilting, as do I. Sometimes you need an expert opinion!!!
