Rest, Relax, Restore….and Remodel!

Following Mary on down the road!

I get the same peaceful feeling here in the Bedford, Pennsylvania area as I do in Virginia – Mountains everywhere I look.  Farms, fields, cattle.  Long stretches of highway with that double yellow ribbon laid out before me.

Yesterday was the Day-in-between.  The day to breathe, relax, let go, restore – before I hit the road again today.

We also had Mary’s dogs in her car – my van was packed to the gills with no back seats, some errands had to happen.  We headed out to drop her two dogs off with her hubby and son who are currently remodeling an old school house into a home, and there would be picking up of merchandise boxes that I had shipped to Mary’s shop to arrive while I was here so I could just take them on to Hershey.  A two vehicle day.

My biggest extravagance.

Bedford Springs Spa!

This is the highlight of my trip to Bedford.  You can find more on this wonderful place in my post from 2013 HERE.

Long soaks in the whirlpool bath.  Relaxation in the quiet room.  Massage – just what this girl needed!

It’s perfectly okay to fall asleep and dream here!

Refreshments are at the ready -

Mouthwatering strawberries and blueberries.

Fruit & nut mix!  Yummy.

But my favorite:

Art of Tea!

Mindful Melon on the right – delicious.

But possibly the best place of all -

The gardens!

Every year things are a bit different out here!

I so far have not found the courage to go rest in the hammock – I’m afraid I’d not be able to get out of it in any sort of modest way.  LOL.  But the flowers are ALWAYS stunning in late summer – and I love the hum of bees and the chirp of birds – even a couple of chipmunks were caught scampering by while we relaxed on lounge chairs after massages were done.

The rain didn’t come until later.

The cloudly sky kept things cool and restful.  And the colors were so vibrant against that grey ominous sky.

Look at all the shades of pink!

Zinnias tall and colorful.

The bees were very busy over here, and that made me happy!

I could have stayed here forever -

And I’ll look forward to it again NEXT year -

Dates have been set for July 17-20, 2020 for our next (And LAST) Summer Workshop Series in Bedford! Mark your calendars, and stay tuned.  Workshops will be chosen and posted early next year. After many years of doing this event every year, we’ve decided that next year will be our grand finale.  You won’t want to miss it, so mark your calendars.

Joe’s Baked Eggplant!  YUMMY!

I know he did this for me, because I haven’t stopped raving about it since the last time I was here.  No one can bake an eggplant like Joe.  In fact – if there are leftovers in the fridge, I just may finish this up for breakfast before hitting the road.

From the homefront:

Tiling is happening!

This is getting more real by the day.

SO EXCITED!

Okay, I’m packing it up, hitting the road and am on my way to Hershey.  For those traveling in today – be safe, and I look forward to seeing you in class or around and about the show TOMORROW!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Vintage quilt found in Kansas.

They are your dreams. No one else owns them but you!

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

  2. Even if getting out of the hammock is "awkward", who cares? Will you see any of those people again soon or ever? Life is short--give it a go. I remember swinging on the swings alone in the Adirondacks a few years ago and I'm older than you and it gave me a lot of joy! It's the things we don't do that we regret later;-) sharon at sharonstroud dot com

  3. I have roots in Pennsylvania; it always feels like home. Glad you got to enjoy the spaaaah again. I sure could use a good baked eggplant recipe. Will Joe share his recipe with you to share with us? It could become his claim to fame.

  10. What do the two yellow lines in the road indicate? Here in South Africa a solid white line means no passing, because the sight line is limited. Just curious!! That spa looks AMAZING!! Oh how I wish!! Enjoy your quilting ladies!!!
