Hola, Barcelona!

20160817_102841
What a whirlwind trip this has already been!

Overnight flights are NEVER a joy – sleeping on planes just never happens for me, and for some reason, definitely not on this one….but when we landed, I was SO excited!

There were a few of us from our group on my flight, but the bulk of everyone else came via JFK to Madrid to Barcelona, so we had an hour to wait for them in the baggage claim area.

Happy reunions with some of the folks I’ve traveled with before, and resounding hellos and nice to meet yous from those who are with me for the first time!

Oh, what a great group this is!

We gathered our luggage and headed out to the bus for a panoramic city tour of Barcelona with some fascinating stops along the way!

The Cathedral across from our hotel!

We did so much in the period of one day I don’t know where to begin to tell it all.  You’ll find highlights from our Barcelona day in the short slide show below:

The large Youtube Slide Show isn't playing nice with the hotel internet so I’ll upload the full version when we get a chance – perhaps on the ship!

Until then you can enjoy a bit of the sights and sounds of Barcelona from the rooftop of our hotel:

This morning we are gathering our luggage, loading on the bus and headed to the pier!

  1. OHHHHHHHH Spain looks like what I would expect! Different speakers of the Spanish language have accents unique to where they are from, of course... my favorite accent is directly from anywhere in Spain. Your tour guide must be a joy to hear :)

Can't wait to see the Bonnie Applique blocks your students make.
    Have fun

  2. Looking at the pictures I can already imagine quilty inspirations being hatched. Beautiful so far--thanks for sharing with those of us who might not have a chance to ever get there in person!
Enjoy! I know all of your fellow quilters will too.

  3. I love Barcelona! I have started / ended / stopped over on 3 different cruises; and taken advantage of extra days to really see the city. The architecture always amazes me, from the Gaudi influence to the modern. Do hope you have time to visit Park Guell at some point. My favorite place in the city. My favorite transport was the hop on-hop off bus that went all over the city. Enjoy your journey! Sew happy your hubby gets to come one this adventure & you get a little quiet together time. :) See you in September in Dover DE - Mary/www.stitchinggrandma.wordpress.com

  8. I'm so envious of you all. It looks like it's going to be a wonderful trip. Please tell Mary Ellen "hi" from Pam Clark of Moville, IA. I went to Peru with her as our guide and just loved her. She was "the best"! I'm excited that you're sharing your trip with all of us. It's the next best thing to being there. Pam
