Saturday Stitching with Friends!

20160813_135931
Some days are just meant for friend stitching time!

This weekend I am so happy to be stitching again with Mona, I’m about to burst my buttons.

It’s just been months and months, and while the guys were busy doing guy stuff, we sat, we talked, we laughed, we sewed, and we laughed some more.

Yes, we laughed about the stupid Buck Heads on the mountain. We commiserated over the board meeting that happened yesterday – still waiting to hear if they have passed or declined the crazy notion to go yet another $600,000.00 in debt to pave dirt roads that don’t need paving.

I swear, they are going to run us into the ground here.

There are so many things wrong with this board, something needs to be done….but we dropped that subject and instead turned back to our projects.

I started here!

I am placing my Scrappy Mountain Majesties blocks into a Barn Raising setting, and that is easiest when starting in the middle.

And slowly it grows!

This is what we call Quilter’s Yoga, and it actually felt good to be stretching and reaching on the floor for where to place the next block.  I can certainly feel it in major muscles this morning!

Ready to assemble!
Loving it already!

The top is webbed and I am joining the rows to each other now!

I’m just shy of half way done, but we had to stop sewing…we were just DONE through.  Dinner happened, always fun with friends over, and then we put a movie up on netfix:

colonia

Colonia with Emma Watson!

The film is set against the backdrop of the Chilean military coup and the real "Colonia Dignidad", a notorious cult in the South of Chile, led by German lay preacher Paul Schäfer.

I was on the edge of my seat from the time the movie started all the way to the end.  The fact that this was based on a real storry that happened in my life time (I was about 11 at the time and don’t remember any of this) is just incredible.

And through it all, Beanie and Sadie snoozed on!

There are no plans being made for our Sunday other than just to relax so I am sure that I will get that Scrappy Mountain Majesties top completed.

One more night here at the cabin, home tomorrow morning to pack for Barcelona, and Tuesday we’ll be on our way!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

I love this quote by Georgia O'Keeffe! I can so relate, can you? If only our quilts could talk! Dancing 9 Patch quilt shared by Kerri during my visit to Montana. Love her colors!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

  5. Bonnie, so glad you and Mona got to sew and talk after such a long time. We sew at the farmhouse every Friday during the time the shop is open and all the girls love their Friday sewing together. It is such a time of friends, sewing and fellowship. Have fun on your trip.

  6. I am still trying to get my head around how to "web" the quilt top. Wish you were my friend so you could personally show me. Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. Your quilt top is so beautiful, I also would love to know how to "web" the top as I have never heard of this before. But then again I taught myself how to quilt from a book years ago and still have a lot to learn and am learning more every day from all of you wonderful ladies!

  8. Webbing is chain stitching blocks. Instead of single pairs of pieces, you end up with rows of blocks.

  9. So sweet how Sadie is willing to share her bed with her little visitor, Beanie! What a good girl.

Love the barn raising setting for your SMM quilt. Hmmmm... I might have to make another one!

    Enjoy your 'down time', Bonnie.

  11. What fun! It is always nice to sew with a friend. I was wondering what Mona would have to say about the "changes", especially the buck's head! Stay calm and quilt on!
