A Couple of Crazy Daisies!

2016-06-18 13.15.32 (2)
Irene and I grabbed the last bit of my time in Kentucky and headed to the Crazy Daisy antique mall in Louisville, close to the airport.

Why not?  We had time to spare, and anything I might want to purchase that couldn’t fly with me could easily ride down to Tennessee in her car when she comes to see me in a couple of weeks.

We were women on a mission! Looking for machines, sewing items, vintage glassware, and of course QUILTS!

And so much more fun if we tried on hats, laughed at ridiculous things like the stand up fat jiggling belt machine!

Fat-Belt-4

Not the actual machine!

But seeing these in the antique mall just had us giggling.  Don’t you think they should have one plugged in so we can all give it a go?

Women at the gym?!  So funny!

While the claims of weight loss magic may have been somewhat dubious, surely the soothing vibrating massage must have generated some positive results in relaxation and holistic well-being.

Yet the stand up fat jiggling belt machine has been missing from gyms for years now.

VIBRATORY EXERCISE BELT

Holy Moly!! Hahahaha!

The most FUN part of any antiquing jaunt is finding the weirdest thing in the antique mall.  This one took the cake.  I laughed my way home all the way to North Carolina.

But what about the quilts?  On yes, there were quilts!

Such a great day, still laughing about the jiggle belt machine!

I’m on my way to Atlanta this morning with some plans for some more antiquing stops along the way.  I’ll be looking for all kinds of fun things….I wonder what the next weird thing will be? LOL!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

I have always loved this quote. We should always be trying to become the best version of our own selves.

Antique princess feather quilt found in Glendale, Kentucky last week.

And I’m off! Catch you from Atlanta ---

  1. OMG!!! I remember going to the gym with my mom and getting on those machines....am I telling my age? That was my kind of weight loss program. Believe it or not, they have come up wth a new machine that replicates the motion in a more dignified manner...if you can call it that. It still jiggles you, and is supposed to tighten the loose parts of your body...I'm not so sure, but it's just as funny to watch.
Back to the quilt subject.... I am enthralled with the quilt pictures. The nine patch set in the wedding ring pattern is interesting. I am dying to try a double wedding ring quilt. But the one that really captivates me is the star in the hexagon! I'm not a star or hexagon fan, but I absolutely LOVE that quilt. It's on my Pinterest pin so I can put it on my list of things to do. It may become my first scrappy quilt. Already decided I can even make it in rows if I want to avoid partial seaming....who knows.

I love the woman in high heels on one of the first pictures. All she was missing was her pearls. Great photos. Nancy in ROC.

  3. LOL, the picture with the double belts had a "bone in pork chop" ad from Whole Foods. Nice vintage quilts, thanks for sharing.

  4. My mother had one of those machines. She used it for weight lose and my dad used it for his bad back. It, of course, went the way of the home treadmill and became a clothes catcher. poladydwd(at)yahoo(dot)com

  7. What's sad is I remember renting a 'jiggle machine' a few times and spending who knows HOW long jiggling in it, hoping the fat would be gone (but it never was!!). Darn, it didn't work :-(
