Debbie and Xenia are favorite students who brighten a room whenever I see them!
So fun sharing the week with these super ladies and sharing in their conversations as well as watching their pieces coming together!
Debbie’s hubby Rick has been here with us this week too, and he has been Mr. Awesome, watching over us all, letting us know when the lunch line to the dining room has dissipated enough that we don’t waste sewing time standing in a line waiting to be fed!
He puts up with a lot being surrounded by so many women, taking it all in stride!
He and Debbie have become like family to me as they come to see me whenever I get close enough. They were last with me in Sioux City Iowa a couple weeks ago!
While my class was having THIS much fun -
Cutting it up and singing and laughing with the music turned up
60’s and 70s oldies had us tapping our toes and outright getting out of our chairs and dancing!
Our class only went up to THIS stage yesterday.
Breaking a quilt with intensive piecing down to easy units and having two days to do it means that full blocks won’t start coming together until today. So to give you a BIGGER view of what is going on during the Needle Art Seminar, come take a step into Carmen’s Tuffet Worskhop:
Aren’t these great?
Theses gals will be tuffet masters before long!
Carmen in the center holding two panels!
Carmen is also the owner of Cousins Quilt Shop in Bellaire, Michigan. Her shop is one of the vendors here at the Needle Art Seminar. When I think of what it took to box everything up and get it to the ferry, and then have the horse drawn wagons bring it all up to the Grand Hotel so she could set up her darling little shop here, it boggles my mind! Did I shop? Oh yes!
Fabric on geranium carpet for scale!
1/2 yard cuts of some fun sewing notion fabrics I just HAD to add to my neutral stash. And a green with scissors for good measure!
I made a stop by Mary Elizabeth Kinch’s class to peek in on her as well!
I LOVE THIS QUILT!
I fell in love with it the first time I saw it in Mary Elizabeth’s book Small Pieces, Spectacular Quilts:
Four patch in a four patch in a four patch in a four patch in a….
Be still my scrappy small piece loving heart!
Itty bitties coming together!
Accuracy is so important when working this scale!
And they have nailed it!
Mary Elizabeth heads back home to Toronto today and I am going to miss her smiling face. I hope it won’t be too long until our paths cross again.
I have one more class day today, and I head out on the 11am ferry tomorrow morning. I’m going to miss the sound of horses hooves hitting the pavement as they clip clop past my window. And I’m definitely going to miss this view:
But most of all I’m going to miss these ladies after spending so much time together over the past week.
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
I firmly believe this, and if I could add one thing to it it would say be careful what you pass on to other people. What we say and how we say it can completely affect someone's day if not more.

That 4 ina 4 ina 4ina 4 would have my eyes crossed, and my temper cross!
No matter how hard I try, something always ends up wonky.
I'm making a t-shirt quilt right now, and one of the t-shirts ended up wrong side out!
I have no clue how I could have missed it. shrug
Anyway, sorry for the novel here!
