A Quilter’s Dream Show & Share!

20151025_105946
What is a quilt retreat without show & share?

These gals have worked so hared to complete these beautiful quilts and it was so great to be able to see them and enjoy them and pet them all!

When you have 112 folks at a retreat – and everyone has at least a couple of things to share –you have to organize a system.

If your last name begins with A to L you get to show after dinner.

If your last name begins with M-Z  you get the next meal time as your turn for show and share.

And while not everything came out to the “official” show and share times because some folks had more than two quilts to show – there was CONSTANT show and share going on all around the retreat gym and in class!

Go Huskies!

Kathy’s version of My Blue Heaven is called All Dawgs Go to Heaven and is in Huskie’s colors for college ball supporters!  Love the purple and gold!

Grand Illusion Showing outside!

The lighting in the gym gave a very yellow cast to photos!  We started calling it “Camp Jaundice!” and some of the quilts were brought outside for better viewing!  I totally love this version of Grand Illusion, but even more fun – check out the back:

Close up!

She made large blocks and then slashed them to insert narrow strips of black, and then sewed everything back together.  What a cool cool concept!

Show & Share, Quilter's Dream Retreat, WA 2015

Thank you for bringing all the show & share, quilters!  Your efforts are amazing and your quilts are just beautiful!

I arrived home about 11pm last night.  Straight to bed.  This morning I am up and running!

My Peru trip is very close at hand.  We leave Saturday!  Today I’ve got to head down to the airport in Charlotte for an interview for my Global Reentry that is going to speed up the process of going through customs upon return the USA.  I’ve been wanting to do it for some time, but you have to make an appointment, and be able to be there at certain times and this is the one time it would work this month BEFORE I go to Peru.

I’ve been asked already if we are doing Quilt Cam this week.  Unfortunately I just can’t make it fit.  We will do it when I get BACK from Peru and I’ll have loads to tell you.

And yes, our mystery colors and everything are soon to be released also, so keep watching the blog so you don’t miss it!

Happy Tuesday everyone, it’s good to be home!

  6. All of the quilts were lovely, but the crumb shot through with black was absolutely amazing! I see using a technique like that in my future. I loved the idea of the GI back too. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Love how the one lady giganti-cized the block for the back of her Grand Illusion! I'm glad you mentioned this year's mystery quilt - I've been chomping at the bit in expectation of information on it, and was beginning to think maybe you've just been wayyyy to busy to do one this year ;) Safe travels, and have a great time in Peru!
