iPhone-o-Gram! Cabin #2!

On our way home from the mountains –

It looks like we have another cabin in the running!

This one is actually closer to where we now live, would be about an hour and a half to two-hour drive, and we really liked it.

More photos and info to follow – It's 2pm and we havent had lunch yet --starvation is setting in!

  2. I see you sitting outside on the porch with a hexie quilt on your knees and keeping your hands busy with the next quilt...
This one looks so good from the outside!

You and your DH seem to have picked out to see some real beautiful cabins this weekend...

Good luck on finding the perfect cabin for you both...

    ...and now enjoy lunch ;)

  3. What a view! and closer to home! It's fun to go cabin hunting "with" you - I get to enjoy seeing the possibilities and don't have to make the tough decisions!!! I so enjoy all that you share.

  5. I'm already liking the looks of this one with that wrap-around porch and balcony. Now if the inside lives up to the outside......

  7. Don't suppose you could get both and alternate weekends?? Good luck making a decision! (of course, either one is a winner- so how can you chose badly?)

  9. I really like the wrap-around porch with that big sliding glass door, if there's enough light inside that's where I'd put the quilt studio (you know you're going to quilt while your there ). This is my favorite, hard decision ~ eenie-meenie-minie-moe?

  10. I think about two hours out would be just about right. Enough to really get away yet close enough that even a spur of the moment "let's go....." would work. I hope you get to settle on a perfect place soon so you can begin enjoying it.
I once spent months trying to sell a house after I'd taken a new job, so I'd try to get back to my house most weekends. It was close to a three hour drive, and I often wished it was just an hour closer.--And, no, we won't lament the fact that for way too long I had to commute 1.5 hours each way for a job, although it does make my .75 to 1 hour commute now feel a lot better.

  11. I have always loved a huge porch. This is ideal to sit outside and stitch. Can't wait to see photos of inside.

  12. Our camp is 3 1/2 hours from home, just to far for a quick weekend get-away. Go with the 1 1/2 hour drive! You will enjoy it more.

  13. My sister lived just outside Boone a long time ago. I was lucky enough to visit once and they lived in a cabin on a mountainside. luckily the mayor lived on the same street so it got plowed lots but sometimes it was difficult to get in or out in the snow. I think you should consider this unless it is a seasonal purchase?? it is beautiful there and I would love to live there too!!!good luck with your search!! I think you said retirement home, look for ease of access too, stairs, etc...you just never know! 20 yrs ago I would have poo pooed that comment, but not today! giggle go figure

  16. And: taaadaaa! No watering for the plastic plants on the porch!
    Yippie!
    Hope you will stitch the grandmothers' flowers there, would be very much an enhancement of the view =^}
Whatever you decide: make it very EZ to clean, because that will be the thing you want! All time devoted to leisure and play!
Love from a chilly and dark Amsterdam,

  19. I'm thinking of the stairs myself. I have RA and just can't do stairs any more. When we retired we bought a 1 level home to retire in. Much easier on the ole joints. Either of the cabins look lovely. I'm just enjoying going cabin hunting with you guys. Thanks for taking us along!

  21. Can't wait to see more pictures! Thanks for sharing your cabin shopping with us. Such fun to look at what your choosing.

We have a ski hill place and LOVE the difference from the valley - where things are starting to bloom - to a full on blizzard up here last night. Though its only an hour away, it feels much further.

  24. Beauty again! Great porch! Looks a bit more roomy, that's a plus. Can't wait to see your pictures of the inside. Vacation house sounds more like what you're looking for rather than cabin. BTW: We LIVE in our vacation house, but then we're retired. L♥ to y♥u and DH.

  29. You're showing us some very beautiful cabins! I love the porches on these houses. And the vieuws are stunning. It will be so nice sitting there and sewing, (or crocheting or knitting) I'm a little jealous. Wish we had mountains here in Holland. Groetjes, Gerda

  32. Go for the one with the least amount of yard work to do - you don't want to have that project always facing you when you arrive for a weekend - trust me - I know!!!!

  33. That looks like a retreat cabin

  34. bonnie, thanks for letting us tag along on your search for the perfect getaway cabin. closer means more time for quilting and less gas. as for the future with steps, it will take care of itself, so don't sweat it. just enjoy each day as it comes.

is there room for all of us to come on a retreat with you? that would be Way Cool!

  36. Great porch and deck!!! We could set up cots on the deck and sleep there if there are too many to sleep inside for the summer retreat!!! I can just see all of your followers and fans descending on you all at the same time for retreat!!! Obviously you have a tough decision here...the views at the other cabin were pretty spectacular!!!

So pretty from the front! Reminds me of the houses in Swiss mountains.

  39. Tough decisions ahead. Love that porch and balcony. What views. Being that close to home you may disappear every day to that cabin.
    Lucky you
