A Day to Play Near Home!

Just way too cool!

That’s the first thing that comes to mind when trying to describe what it was like yesterday morning, getting ready to go to work like “Normal Folks” telling my family to have a good day as I headed out the door – “I’ll be home by dinner!”

And I was!

Yesterday’s Smith Mountain Morning workshop from my book Scraps & Shirttails II hosted by the Forsyth Piecers & Quilters of Winston Salem, NC was GRAND!

And so was the space.  The church where they meet has a huge community hall with room to spread out.  The lighting was great, there was a kitchen facility – but most of all it was filled with happy quilters ready to dig in and learn the ins and outs of specialty rulers for half-square triangles, quarter square triangles, and tri-recs units!

HUGE space!

Of course, all of the outlets are along the wall on the outside of the room, so I was not surprised when I checked my steps as I got back into my car – over 7,000 in just this room alone!

Room for tall cutting tables made better by bed risers!

Happy tall girls cutting it up!

Pieces turn to units, and units into blocks!

And we all loved the company of the One Lone Rooster in the Hen House!

So great to spend the day with you, Tim!

I hope it isn't another 4 years before we do this again!  It was just a terrific day, all the way around.

There was a nap when I arrived home.  Bliss!

There was some time for this after dinner!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

I am a solitude seeker.  Are you?  I love the hustle and bustle of busy activity, but when it is time to recharge my batteries, I look for solitude wherever I can find it.  It’s important.  You can’t hear your own inner voice when the world around you is loud and boisterous.

This morning..I nearly forgot. Thanks to the google alarm on my phone calendar I was reminded that I have a physical this morning.  I’m running off to complete that, and then I’ll be back home with more desk work and book edits until I can put that in the done column, and I’ll be back to my machine.

Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday!

  1. My solitude is some hand stitching before bed each evening...even if the TV is on...it is relaxing. Happy Valentine's Day to you too!!

  2. Yes, I love the solitude, but being with like minded people is also a boost. Best of both worlds. I try to make plenty of time for each one. Glad you had a wonderful time with people who are close for a little change in your hectic but productive life.

  3. Bonnie I love the new layout of your blog. It seems somewhat easier to read thru. Then with all the sites: photos, FB, books you have available, you can just go down the list. It's very pleasing to me. Looking good! Have a wonderful Valentines Day. Bless you in all you do.

  5. Thank you again, Bonnie for coming to Winston Salem. I definitely hope I don't have to wait four years to see you again. The trunk show and lecture were great and the workshop was awesome!! The Lone Rooster -- Tim
