Some Sewing Here, Some Sewing There!

Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain!

That was our weather here yesterday, and today looks much the same.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good storm!  Especially when I don't have to be anywhere, go anywhere or have to see anyone --
It's a day to stay in and sew!

See those glowing windows on the lower level?

That's where all of the action has happened over the past weekend.
I've been working on a couple of projects that have been long in the making.

One has been a travel project over the past year, and the other?

A UFO that has needed borders, but has been on the back burner for quite a while.

So while pine planks were going up on the walls all around me, I was giddily treadling away on this:

The LAST seam going in!

The last moment of sunshine on Sunday!

Close up!

This quilt doesn't have a name yet.  There is no pattern available yet.  But I am starting the production process of quilts for the NEXT book in the pipe line, so you will be seeing a whole lot of things with a string piecing theme from me in the next year!

It takes a LONG time to make 12 quilts for a book, especially with my schedule, so I am reveling in this time home to really get excited about the prospect of a follow up book to String Fling.

This one is getting borders next!

And they are going on TODAY!

I'll be spending today up here, but heading home tomorrow for some appointments happening on Thursday.

Remember we are setting up for Quilt-Cam tomorrow evening, from home at 9pm Eastern!

Tonight I'll be drawing for the winners of the Still Stitching video.  Did you enter?  CLICK HERE to do so if you haven't, there is still time. Click the blue "Add Your Link" button at the bottom of the page, and enter ONLY your name and your email address, leaving the other fields blank.  Your address is safe and will be seen only by me.  This is how we will be doing give-aways from now on.  I am doing what I can to protect you from spammers!

Yesterday's Mystery Monday Link-Up for Part 3 is going full steam ahead!  As of this morning there are 75+ entries, go give them a look!  You might just find yourself inspired to try some new color combos, and make some new friends as you find other folks to follow.  Everyone has a story.  I love reading the entries and reconfirming to myself what a small word it is, indeed! Click HERE for that post.

Have you registered?!

Of course, registration is still open and folks are signing up left and right for our next session of Scrap Quilting with me, Bonnie Hunter!  Information on my online 6 week course can be found HERE.  You can also sign up by clicking the icon link in the upper right blog side bar.  Remember to use the code BHSCRAP to save $30.00 off of your workshop purchase!  If you missed out last time, we are running this course again just for YOU!

Oh Bonnie, that star quilt is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of the lights that dance across my kitchen walls as the sun shines through my Saworski crystal hanging in my kitchen window. Love, love it. Janice Park k4squilt@zoominternet.net

  9. It was worth it to get my link-up done early. I have had more comments than last week. Waiting for QuiltCam. Gotta get my Christmas Secret projects finished up so I have handwork to do while I watch. I'm on the downhill side this week. I've even had time for my goodie baking. One more group party tonight. Nice to see the shirt strips go under the needle.

I thought you were naming the quilt Sunshine on Sunday. I think it would be a perfect name for it. Love it so much!!!!

  11. Our group in Tucson, AZ met this last Saturday. It was a rainy day and perfect for staying in and sewing. Breaks in the rain came at the right times - arrival and departures. We are all Bonnie fans and met last year through the mystery quilt. Rainy days = great quilting days.

Ladies, I think we need to lock our sewing room doors more tightly. I suspect Bonnie has been raiding my stash. :o I recognized not one but NINE fabrics in her green string blocks picture on her Facebook page today. I'm sure that they came from my stash, but equally sure that if confronted, she'd flat out deny it! You've all been warned... LOL! Great quilting minds think alike at the fabric stores, apparently, or else scraps have a way of getting around without much effort.

  13. Love your new quilt! Since it is going in a new string quilt book, perhaps a good name for it would be Stringing the Stars (if you don't name it Sunshine on Sunday!).

Bonnie, you're SUCH a good writer! It is sew easy to read you words and understand your thoughts. Not that you asked our opinions, but I like the sound of "Sunday Sunshine"!
