With Blue Skies and Sunshine!

Check out this gorgeous display of quilts from the Valley Quiters!

And don't let that sunshine fool ya - it was also SUPER WINDY!

Trying to catch photos in-between gusts was the challenge and added some hilarity to the situation.

All day long we had watched the flag hanging in front of the inn blow uncontrollably.

The rocking chairs on the front porch seemed to have ghost riders, and the tree swing?  Weeeeee!

But we persevered!

And things looked just the slightest bit fluttery by the time photos were done.

Next to the beautiful center medallion I spy a Grand Illusion quilt and an Easy Street quilt from the Addicted to Scraps book!

The blue String X was also finished at retreat.  Pattern from the Free Patterns Tab.  Have you made one?

The two blue batik medallions were purchased as kits (no info) and pieced on retreat!  The far right medallion was also worked on at retreat and is getting closer to being done.

These ladies do such beautiful work!

The top on the left just needs borders - and it was a block of the month. (no info)  Isn't it gorgeous?

And what's not to love about a quilty quilt just for quilty quilters!

Diane's Frolic and Rhododendron Trail quilts!

So much fun to see your Quiltville quilts over the rail!

Just slightly gusty.  LOL!

I arrived at the inn at 9:30am as I generally do.  The place was a ghost town!  Everyone had bugged out early on their long drives home - and the place was spick and span.

Thanks for coming ladies! We'll see you next year!

Laundry kicked the day into gear as I get ready for the Sisters of the Stash to arrive tomorrow.

The day was warm and lovely - and I'm soaking it all up (with much less wind) because March storms are still on the horizon and we are expecting more rain tomorrow.  Of course - right when people are arriving and offloading.  But what can we do about weather?

Just bring an umbrella, and something to cover your wagon as you offload everything from your car to the back porch.

This was my afternoon gig!

I do my best to never put off my yearly mammogram.  Have you had yours yet? If not - schedule today!

Our cute little Ashe County hospital.

It was a quick in and out - easy peasy.  And now we wait for results.  Some other errands were run in the process.  You know, with gas the way it is (no complaints!) we go to town less frequently.  It's 1/2 hour drive to anywhere from here, so we make it count.

That means whoever is going, gets the list from the other spouse and makes all of the stops while out and about.

It didn't leave much time for sewing machine time.  AT ALL.  I don't think I sat down until it was dinner time.

Feet up and hand quilting while finishing up the last few episodes of Scandal until bedtime was it with needle and thread.  I'm okay with that.

Two tired girls after playing hard in the yard!

Today there WILL be machine time.  I have a few things getting closer to top completion that I haven't been able to share yet.  I have new things I want to play with.

Here it is - Our Hearts of Hope quilt!

Quilt Size: 56'' X 56''

And there is Part One of our Hearts 0f Hope Sew-Along to make ready.

How many of you are ready for FRIDAY!??

Thank you for your continued efforts in donating to our Quilters For Ukraine GoFundMe.

If your guild or group makes our Hearts of Hope quilt - perhaps they can do it as a "donation" quilt (otherwise known as raffle but renamed for those whose laws state they can't say raffle.) with all funds going to our GoFundMe, Quilters For Ukraine.

Instead of purchasing a pattern for Hearts of Hope from me - my own hope is that you will donate as little as $10.00 to Quilters For Ukraine simply because you are participating in this Sew-Along.

Every little bit is helping.  ALL of this will be going directly to Together Rising in their continued efforts to provide real support - boots on the ground support - for the people of Ukraine.

The response on our March '22 PDF pattern releases has been fantastic!  Thank you so much!

The Quiltville Etsy Store has been busy for those who prefer to order from Etsy and like the way that PDF patterns are delivered.

Just remember that you need to download your files through your computer browser after logging in to your account. It doesn't work from the app.

I will slowly as time allows put up other PDF patterns there as well.  Right now there are just the most recent dozen or so.  I have added an Etsy tab to the top of the blog for easy access.

The patterns for Monkey Business and Bear Branch are both marked 25% off in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store and the Quiltville Etsy Store.  No coupon needed.

Save even more with the Monkey Business & Bear Branch Pattern Bundle, only available for a limited time, through 3/31/22.

Of course, digital patterns, books, rulers, notions and other goodies as well as PDF patterns are available as always in the Quiltville Store on my website.

Did you enter the gift away yet?

Our Drawing happens THIS COMING SATURDAY!

I will be drawing for TWO winners who will each receive the Monkey Business & Bear Branch Pattern Bundle with one winner receiving a Facets of Brown Color Roll, and the second receiving a Facets of Aqua color roll from Cotton to Quilts!

Winner must have fabric prize shipped to a USA address.  If you are outside of the USA, we can send it to a friend within the USA who can forward it on to you.

Head on over to the Gift-Away post and enter to win.

I'll draw for our two winners THIS coming Saturday, 3/26/22.

With all of this going on - how is your own week coming together?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

I reached 5'7" by the7th grade. I was 5'9" by the 9th grade.
I had a habit of slouching to make myself fit in better and it was my dad who told me to stand tall, head high, shoulders back!
I love my height now, but I surely didn't then. I wanted to be 5'6" and petite! LOL!
Hold your head up high. Put a smile on your face and do more than just fit in.
Stand out!
Move forward to something better!
Criss Cross Applesauce quilt from my book Scraps & Shirttails II. Made with recycled fabrics.

Time to kick Tuesday into gear -

Have a great day, everyone!

  1. Thank you for getting your annual mammogram. Twice my annual found abnormalities that ended up being cancer. All is good after chemo, radiation and two mastectomies. I am now a 10 year survivor. My mammograms saved my life!

    1. So happy for your survivor years, Debbie B!
16 Years for me - a small lump found on a mammogram. Had my annual pressing last week. It was a new 3-D (I think) machine, and I got results in 15 minutes! It feels good to leave there knowing all is good!

  3. LOL about wanting to be 5'6" and petite. All 4 of my sisters are under 5'5" and my mom is only 4'11". I think we would all like to be a little taller. It is no fun shortening petite pants because they are too long. Also, the taller you are, the more you can eat without it showing. An extra 20 lb on a 5' person really shows!

  4. Actually, our March came in like a lamb...wonderful lamb, soft, warm, cozy, beautiful...so we're looking for lion weather as the month ends. One never knows what is around the corner weather-wise, huh? :-)

  6. I was 5'6" my whole adult life until I began shrinking. Now (at 74) I'm 5'4" and can't reach the top shelves anymore! :) I'm also an eleven year breast cancer survivor. Please, ladies, get your mammograms. It's so important to catch it early! Love your blog, Bonnie! I read it every day. I also like the Criss Cross Applesauce pattern. Gotta try that one.

  7. Had my routine mammogram in January and 25 years after I had a lumpectomy for breast cancer, it was there again. Had a bilateral mastectomy this month and it has not spread, so be sure to always get your mammogram.

  8. Bonnie, I tried the slouching bit when I jumped 8 inches in height in 6th grade. Mom caught .e at it and flat out said you are the way God wants you to be stand straight and tall and enjoy the fact. It's great when parents reinforce good behaviour in a loving way. Thanks momma.

  9. My mother started telling me to stand up tall as soon as I could walk. She knew I would be tall as both my parents were ( I topped out at 5'11"). I thank her for that because all my life people would always compliment me on my carriage

  10. I was the tallest in my class until the boys shot up over me one summer. I still slouched as I was the tallest girl then. My mom of course told me to stop slouching but I didn't take her advice till my cherished neighbor girlfriend told me she wished she was as tall as I was and that I could reach so many things she need a stool for. I stopped slouching and it was good after that. Now my kids are taller than me!
