July Quilty Box Gift-Away!

IMG_20170720_151015_981000
Shhhhh!

As this posts I’m likely sleeping!

You see, we left North Carolina last evening, with a planned time of arrival in Salt Lake about midnight local time, which made it about 2am North Carolina time.

This post has been written ahead, and during the writing it hit me that I had no idea what the itinerary would actually do, so I am grateful for the time I had to write this ahead.

As it was, I got a 2 hour reprieve.  I misunderstood.  I thought that the 5pm time was the time the flight left Greensboro.  But 5pm was actually the planned time of house-departure, so 2 hours EXTRA was a bonus!  And that contributed to the excitement and good feeling about this trip.  Let’s hope that I arrived in Salt Lake with all luggage intact and on time.

This month’s Quilty Box is full of color and fun stuff!

What is a Quilty Box?

  • Each month we have 4 or more products (Fabric, patterns, thread, or notions)
  • Our retail value of the products in the box is always more than $50
  • We will be using the hashtags #QuiltyBox and #GetQuilty

I LOVE that 5% of the proceeds goes to Quilts for Kids!  We get a happy Quilty Box in the mail, and the kids get more quilts to cover them with love. It's a win/win every way you look at it.

So what’s in this box?

Oh, the goodies!

This month’s box was curated by Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew

Allison is an accomplished quilter with a love of fresh, clean designs and colors.  She blogs her projects and easy to follow tutorials on her website and publishes patterns that can be found in quilt shops everywhere.

Her blog has followed her journey from beginning quilter in 2007 to present, as a pattern and fabric designer for Windham Fabrics.  Currently on her 5th fabric line, Hello Jane arrived in quilt shops just this month!

Allison is also the author of the book Growing up Modern for C&T Publishing.  The book includes 16 patchwork projects to make for children in the “modern” quilt style.

Allison lives with her husband and three small children just a ferry ride from Seattle.

Along with a sampling of 16 fat eighths of Hello Jane, look at what else you get in the July Quilty Box:

I am in love with this Zirkel!

Also in the box is a pattern for Allison’s “July Stars” quilt, perfect for using your fat 1/8 bundle.

And you'll find a stiletto and pressing tool by Annie’s, a spool of Tutti TU37 variegated cotton thread by WonderFil, along with the “Gotta have this!” Zirkel. (Pins not included!!)

I’m going to draw for one lucky winner who will receive their box directly from the folks at Quilty Box.  Are you ready to enter?

Our winner will be drawn Saturday evening, July 29th after my last teaching day in the great state of Utah!

Good luck, everyone!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Vintage star quilt found in West Virginia.

If my arrival in Salt Lake went as planned – today’s activities include a drive out to Tooele to my sister Mary’s house where everyone is gathering, arriving at different times from points all over.  It will be a hot dog-burger and all the fixings kind of day, and I can’t wait to hear the laughter of small children and the greeting of siblings and spouses as we join together.

It’s been MANY years since all 8 siblings and spouses have been at a family reunion.  With this many folks there is always someone missing and busy – so this is special.

And it all came about because I am teaching for the state guild  Tuesday through Saturday!  Who knows when we’ll be able to do this again.  We are so grateful that my job has brought this about.

Before I sign off, I also wanted to remind everyone that there is ALSO a Quiltmaker Bundle Gift-Away happening: My string pieced pumpkin pattern Punkin’ Time is making its first appearance in this issue!

The drawing for that bundle will happen on Monday evening from the comfort of my hotel room before the teaching chaos starts.  Enter to win ON THAT POST.

And with that, I’m hitting send!

  1. I'm glad your job got your family together. My family will be together tomorrow to remember my Brother who passed away last week suddenly. He hadn't been sick. It will be bittersweet. Hug your siblings extra tight.

  4. I love that Zirkel pin holder! If you drop the pins in the center with the sharp side down, all the pins will face with the tiny ball/flower side out, so no stabbed fingers when reaching for a pin.

    Have a wonderful trip!

  7. I love my Zirkel. It's a magnet and very heavy so you can't knock it off on the floor.

Bonnie, did you know that your "disease" is contagious and that I am coming down with it. Not sure if it is a virus, bacteria or a mental disorder, but I'm also drawn to vintage sewing machines. I'm going to learn how to rescue, repair and restore them. The other day I bought a sewing machine repair business with oceans of vintage parts. I'm terminal.

  9. I would love to see some labels. Do you print them out, hand write them. Maybe have a standard style, that you use all the time? Do you sew them in the seam allowance all the time.
Have a safe trip to Utah and back.

  11. Thanks for this give away. I always laugh and tell my husband I'm entering another contest, but I never win. It's still really nice of you to give away these boxes and to the Quilty group too. Have a great time in Utah with your family, it's great to relive old memories.

  13. My husband and I have been married for over 10 years. We met when I was 18 and he was 21. We’ve been through a lot emotionally together. There were several HUGE fights and painful situations in our marriage, but we always seemed to come out stronger on the other side. Out of the blue my husband just sprung the divorce talk on me, I was totally depressed until I found Dr.Todd website online and I ordered for a Love spell. You won’t believe my husband called me at the exact time this spell caster finished his spell work in 48hrs. I was totally amazed! He is wonderful and his spells work so fast.
