A Texas Sized Show & Share!

C42DBB99-001
My feet – and the rest of me, are back home in North Carolina after a whirlwind trip to the Houston area.

What a welcome!  Gorgeous temps reaching up to 86 degrees (Okay, not quite ready for that, but it’s better than snow!) happy quilters eager to sew, and loads of good food – Texas style!

One sweet quilter, knowing that dinner time is really hard to manage on busy guild nights, and that gluten free offerings are rare on snack tables during guild meetings – brought me pimento cheese sandwiches on gluten free bread!  Oh, I have never tasted ANYTHING so Texas-delicious!

Along with all of the things we managed to fit in during my time with these two guilds, amongst the many highlights are the show & share quilts that came to workshops and evening guild meetings, allowing ME the opportunity to see what you have made.  My heart soars!

You are phenomenal!!

And it’s more than the quilts.  It’s the stories that go along with them.  What happened to be going on in your life during the making of this quilt.  Things we have cried through, worked through, rejoiced through.  It’s all there – in every stitch.

The photo at the top of this post is Karen’s Easy Street from MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders.  Her colors just sing!

Close up.  GORGEOUS!

Each and every quilt was a testament to the love of piecing and fabric, and the friendships that bring us together.

And they were shown to full rooms of others who came away so inspired!

Second lecture night.  Full house!

Oh yes, this….hysterical!

What one person understands by “I need a quilt display stand for my lecture” Might not be fully understood by the person reading your request. LOL!!  Oh, we had such a good laugh, and the proper “Quilt display stand” was found in the closet just waiting for my arrival.

But then, THONGS were something I wore on my feet when I was young.  So funny how words change meaning over time!  Nice quilt rack though, don’t you think?

There are many more to show – you’ll find them below!

I made it home with a bit of stitching accomplished:

Border units for the “Eternal Hexie Project.”

Luckily, I had received a text from Delta a couple days prior letting me know that my flight from Houston to LaGuardia may be impacted by inbound weather.  I quickly called and re-routed myself through Atlanta, which was the better flight anyway.  I didn’t tell the agent on the phone that I was happy with the assigned window seat, and to NOT put me on the “automatic upgrade list” for Comfort Plus.  My bad.

I knew when i saw the email that I’d been upgraded that I was in trouble.  Yes, I got to Comfort Plus, but I was now stuck in a middle seat between two big beefy guys.  Let the arm rest wars begin.  I couldn’t stitch comfortably so I gave up and took a nap.

And this was waiting for me when I came through the door!

Some of you had emailed me about the last link-up for En Provence and before heading to Houston and looking at my schedule of how things were happening while there, I made the executive decision to wait until I was HOME to do it – so be looking for that Link-Up to happen this coming Monday.  I’ve also heard from several of you that you are grateful for an extra week reprieve to get your tops together.

I can’t wait to see what you have to share!

Quilt-Cam is likely to happen this coming week, after the weekend.  I’ll let you know when that will fit in.

I’m home until the 22nd!

  1. Yea for Texas gals treating you well. Happy to know they found a 'real' quilt stand in the closet. Great show of the Quilts! Enjoy your weekend. Temps are rising and the white stuff is melting. SPRING Rains making it slick on snowpacked roads. I would love the 86° right now.

  3. I am so glad you made it back safely. Too bad you didn't get to stitch much but maybe a nap was just what you needed so Sadie could have a rested mama! :-) Your little bag in the background of your cute hexies made me smile. I have the same cute scottie dog fabric sitting out in my messy sewing room. It is so cute and I slowly dole it out on your quilt patterns because I don't want to use it all up! :-) Have a great day. Thanks for all you do. Can't wait for the link up. My top is going to get one more skinny border. Maybe I will be inspired to get it on by Monday. Happy Friday! K- lkw2x6-apq@yahoo.com

  4. Thongs are very skimpy underpants in the UK, your thongs are "flip flops" but in New Zealand they are called "jandals". Isn't language fascinating?

  5. I am really curious as to how they think they are upgrading you when they stick you in the middle.

  6. The middle seat battle seems to be a favorite for talk shows. Recent show I was listening to said the armrest on window seat uses the left one, aisle seat uses the right one and the one stuck in the middle gets one on either side for the discomfort of sitting between two bodies on a plane.

    Works for me.

    Love your shares.
