I can’t believe I just wrote 2017 in a subject line!
Oh, goodness. It is coming up so soon!
And with magazines, it’s a month ahead of where we currently are and do I have some happy surprises for you!
It may only be December, but 2017 is already hitting news stands near you.
Does it drive you nuts? It does me a bit, but this one is packed with all things WONDERFULLY QUILTY!
My own copy of the January/February 2017 issue of Quiltmaker was waiting for me when I returned from Thanksgiving in Key Largo, Florida.
I tucked myself into bed and thumbed through the pages, one by one by one – SO much great stuff inside!
Isn’t this a great cover quilt?
Aurora Borealis by Susie Ledadom!
SO striking!
This one is marked as “EASY” and I think this would be great with any collection, prints or solids or batiks!
Diane Harris has done it again!
This one is called Spinster!
I love to separate even my smallest scraps by color family, and this one just calls to me! It’s also marked EASY…are you ready to get your scrappy on?
These are just a FEW of my favorites! Look:
So many stars and pinwheels!
Crimson and Cream by Lynn Lister.
Also marked as EASY!!
And there is so much more!
Not to mention:
This month’s Addicted to Scraps Column!
Star Chain!
This is the antique quilt that inspired my column.
Irene, Sherry and I found this quilt while antiquing in Kentucky and I just KNEW I had to make some of these. Here is another close up:
Can you spot the blocks?
Have fun digging into your scraps while you make these fun blocks with basic units. You’ll find the directions in my Addicted to Scraps column in the Jan/Feb 2017 issue.

My day today.
I’ve made all of the small string blocks that I need, now I am on to the large ones…so far this is NOT making a dent in the neutral strings bin! But I’m sure having fun while I do it!
Have a lovely evening, everyone!
Are you working on Dawn's Early Light?
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I have ever entered, maybe I will have beginner's luck. I love your neutral string blocks. I tend to make mine in color blocks too. Some are just scrappy, but I have been making a lot of blocks with 30's scraps and some with Batik's. I am making a charity quilt out of Batik orphan blocks soon and I am thinking these 3 1/2" scrappy squares will need to find a home in it somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI love using these blocks for table runners - so colorful and I can make the runner any size I want very easily.
those 2 are faves of mine too bonnie....great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI was shocked to see so few comments on this day's blog. It appears that alot of your followers must be working on the MQ! LOL I'm still working on clue #1 as I had a quilt to finish for a dear friend. I'll get back to it shortly. I really like the quilts you showed from the new Quiltmaker Mag. Those are the normal size of most of my quilts. Large lap quilts that I can quilt more easily on my DM. Thank you for the chance of winning that nice bundle of quilting mags and the extra goodies.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, have a blessed week and get everything that you have on your present list done. I know you will do that. It's just your nature.
Love to you and the quilting community! QD
Lovely giveaway and lovely quilts. There are so many of your scrappy quilt patterns that I want to make! I am trying my hand at my first mystery. It is slow going because I am still working on Christmas stuff, plus I don't have a big stash. I will have to go shopping. I am also working on your scrappy stars. Love that pattern!
ReplyDeleteOops! Scrappy Crystals, not scrappy stars.
ReplyDeleteI'm plugging away on clue #2: only 40 more to do! Thank you so much for this great mystery. I am improving my cutting skills and my 1/4" seam is finally accurate. Plus, the colors of Provence are so beautiful! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway Bonnie! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great package!
ReplyDeleteAre those string blocks for the En Provence mystery?? If not, what would they be like in lieu of the 4 patch? Just wondering!!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for you giveaway, Bonnie. I love that I'm able to sew together with you through your live camera.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give-away! So generous of you!
ReplyDeleteI love to throw in a give-away sometimes too. Mostly after I have visited the US and found some fun stuff to share that I can't find in my country.
Happy Stitching! Yvonne
Thank you Bonnie for all you do and the chance to win this fantastic prize
ReplyDeleteI read cookbooks and quilting magazines like novels. So many pretty quilts in there! Thank you for an opportunity to win this bundle. Will it help if I say my 73rd birthday is Dec. 16?
ReplyDeleteAgain, another great give away. BTW, I missed the live impromptu quilt cam, but was so happy to spent an hour and twenty minutes with you yesterday while the plumber was fixing 2 slow drains. No better time was spent. 😃
ReplyDeleteGreat block. Can't wait for my issue to arrive. I am down to one magazine and Quiltmaker is it. Carol
