I Choose these Cincinnati Sisters!

Four Hours of Stitching with an hour of lunch and show & share in the middle.

This is the perfect recipe for a very good double-duty day, isn’t it?

Double Duty as we had the guild meeting last night as well, and I was all geared up and ready for my presentation-to-be!

Sister’s Choice is a very simple block, but there are many things we can do to make things come out the right size, having units fit together better than ever before, and even saving the bonus triangle units from BEHIND the stitch-and-flip star points for another project!

“Save those triangles?” you say?  Yes, if there are 8 per block, and you have 56 blocks, you are going to have 448 smaller bonus half square triangles for another project down the road.  Or maybe use them in a pieced border in THIS quilt!  Whatever the case may be, our day was loaded with options!

Stitching 9 patches from a strip set of TWO strips plus one extra square.

Have you checked out how this works?

You can follow and sew along using the Sister’s Choice tutorial found under the free patterns tab at the top of the blog.  It shows you how to make a strip set of TWO strips, how to subcut, rearrange, add that lst corner square, and voila!  Each nine patch in the quilt is DIFFERENT than the next, but they are strip pieced from ONE strip set!

Pressing matters!

And points turn out!

Looking great, girls!

Almost enough for a quilt in 4 hours!

Wasn’t this a whole bunch of fun??

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Remember the last time that someone made you feel valued and appreciated? Give that gift to someone who needs it today.

The way we make people feel means a lot more than anything we say, and that goes for both good and bad.

Vintage spider web quilt found in Louisville Kentucky.

I’m on my way home.  But just stand back and watch my blur.  I arrive home tonight, repack the bags tomorrow, and head to Michigan on Thursday – Zzooooom!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

  1. Bonnie - these blocks are among my favorites of yours. Just think of all those 2.5" being put to use...and making a great looking STAR quilt!

Thank you also for the thought-of-the-day part of your posts. I find I am really visiting to read them!!! And have re-entered on days when it is a hair-pulling day/I don't need "THIS" day!

  3. That is one of my favorite quotes. I think if more people would heed that advice, we would all be kinder and happier. Appropriate for employers, parents, teachers, friends, everyone. This is also one of my favorite patterns by my favorite teacher!! I am going to make one!
