Guess who is coming over today to play??
MONA!!
She is home from Ohio, all is well there. Oh, that grandbaby of hers is SO stinking cute!
i can’t wait to see all of the photos that have taken up residency in Mona’s phone.
Remmeber the baby albums of yesterday, how they would unfold all the way to the floor with photos of kids and grandkids?
Now, it’s our phones! My, how technology changes things.
I arrived in the pounding rain yesterday afternoon. I set in right away to getting the binding on the “Oh, My Stars!” quilt, with the plan to sit in the evening and hand stitch the binding down.
I was so tired I didn’t get that far, but I do like the way it is turning out:
Love that red finish!
I also spent some time with this!
I am kitting up block parts to take to Texas with me on the 28th. I’m teaching in Mineola for Stitchin’ Heaven Quilt Shop and I’ve got a loaner machine (From Irene who is coming too!) and hope to sew up 800+ 4 patches, all scrappy!
Because I don’t want to do a lot of cutting on the road, just sewing, I am doing all of the strip sets this weekend, and also the subcutting in already matched pairs:
Baggied in sets of 100!
From these baggies I can tell that I have a long long way to go. And that’s where Mona comes in! She is going to come sew with me while I sew and sub cut more strip-sets. It will make a boring job, much more fun!
Mona’s birthday was this week, mine is on the 23rd, so we are celebrating this weekend and next –there will be dinner out on the town tonight!
My view from the porch this morning!

Quiltville Quote of the Day!
Mind over matter as they say! In other words, what you think about matters. Take control of negative feelings and turn them around. Venting in public is highly overrated as your words really can ruin someone else's day. Show negative thoughts who's boss! And when all else fails, go sew something! Antique Dutchman's puzzle quilt found in McKinney Texas.
Have a terrific Saturday, everyone!
Yay for friends to sew with! Have lots of fun! and an early
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to both of you!

Yes!!! Love your command, "when all else fails, go sew something!" So smart. I agree that venting in public is highly overrated.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I love your "Oh My Stars" quilt. Is it for a new book or is the pattern already available? And, your view is breathtaking. You should turn it into a landscape quilt. Enjoy your weekend.

Have fun reconnecting with Mona, enjoy your birthday meal celebration, thanks for your quotes, I need to hear them and apply them! Also love all the eye candy with the quotes on antique quilts. Absolutely love your Oh My Stars quilt...I sure hope it's in a future book! Enjoy your cabin time!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day sewing with your buddy. I was suppose to teach today but the weather has cancelled it. So I am sewing the day away too. Tunes are on and the fragrant candle is lite!!!
ReplyDeleteI am really liking your Oh My Stars quilt! Makes me want to get strippy. LOL. So glad Mona is back and you two can celebrate your birthdays. Enjoy the time together.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, FYI, the name "Oh My Stars" was used by Fons and Porter for their scrap star, quite a while back. Not sure if it matters, the pattern is entirely different, but thought I'd tell you in case it does matter, like if you put it in a book. My mystery quilt is almost together then will be back to the scraps, trying to keep up with you! (Impossible task, I know!) Carol
ReplyDeleteComing to Texas, again. You can't stay away from here! I love Stitchin' Heaven!! I started shopping with them while living in VA. As soon as I got home to TX, I had my chance! Yes, they have gotten lots of my money, but sadly I haven't been to visit since 2014 after surgery. I need to visit to see the ladies! I know you always have a blast there. The ladies love you. Are you going to the Hideout or the shop. Guess, I need to check the site so I can get back to visit! Grab some fat quarters. You know they have a great selection.
ReplyDeleteThe cabin time is getting better and better. Sharing Treadle Time with Mona and Birthday Dinner out on the town. Sounds like a Perfect way to spend the day. Happy Birthday to Both of YOU!!
ReplyDeleteI love the strings and star blocks quilt. I am hoping that it is going to feature in your book or become a pattern because I have a big box of crumbs and strings that would be perfect. String quilts are my favourite and I have not done any crumb piecing yet. Glad you are having some cabin time Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteWow!! What a fabulous view!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day sewing, there is nothing better than sewing time with a good friend. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI've just stumbled across your quilt cam videos, and now the blog, and I'm considering doing your mystery quilt along later in the year... That was quick!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried sub cutting on an accuquilt? I'm making 2" unfinished 9 patches. I strip pieced my 3 strips then sub cut them in 7.25" sections and lined them up on the die. The foamy die held them in place perfectly so I could run them thru. I have to make over 1100 little 9 patches so this sped the process up. And wasn't so painful on the carpal tunnel!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to get my grandmothers treadle out of the basement and into the sewing room. I've always wanted to learn how to sew with it. Just need to move some stash to make room. It's the only sewing machine that she ever used.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this quilt! Are there instructions???thanks and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your posts each day especially your quotes shared with a quilt. watched your QuiltCam on Thursday Night. Nice to know even you experts sometimes sew things the wrong way. I had to laugh at you. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteYay for Mona learning a new skill! And loving the quotes, just great reminders. Thanks for putting out all of the content you do. Your positivity is infectious.
