Newport Evening News! Free Kindle Book!

I am back to my room and it is only 8pm! I’m in my jammies with a hot cuppa of my favorite tea and I plan on having a leisurely evening!

Will I plug in the sewing machine? That remains to be seen…it might not be in the cards…I really think I’d like to tuck in and read a book---

Kindred Crimes (The Jeri Howard Series) by Janet Dawson is free today in the Amazon Kindle store. It’s got a 5 star rating!

Genre: Mystery/Suspense

Book Description:

Renee Foster left her toddler son with her mother-in-law, cleaned out the joint bank account – and vanished. Now her husband wants Oakland private investigator Jeri Howard to find his wife, though it looks like she doesn’t want to be found.

A simple missing persons case? There’s nothing simple about it. People aren’t who they seem. The past comes back with a vengeance. And the trail leads to murder.

Product Description

“A welcome addition to this tough genre.” The New York Times Book Review

“Dawson keeps suspense and interest at high pitch.” Publishers Weekly

“A satisfyingly complex and multilayered novel . . . A wonderfully told and compelling story from a writer who’s in complete control – as is her heroine – from start to finish. We’ll feel cheated if there aren’t more Jeri Howard books to come.” The Denver Post.
“An auspicious debut.” New York Daily News

“Dawon writes believable dialogue, creates quickly realized and appealing characters and has a particularly nice atmospheric touch.” San Francisco Examiner

Kindred Crimes - Winner, St. Martin’s Press/Private Eye Writers of America contest for Best First Private Eye Novel. Shamus, Anthony and Macavity award nominee.

SO there you go! Worth a download and a try out! But check before clicking that it is still free when checking out as things can change without notice.

This afternoon after class I was hijacked by Nancy who took me all over Newport to see the gorgeous unbelievable mansion houses and other incredible places along the shore!

We walked along the cliff walk --- and decended the “40 steps” to get toward the bottom of the cliffs for some photos….LOVE the rocky shore line!

There was a lot of traffic behind us, so we weren’t able to stop and take many photos of the wonderful sights, but we did stop to snap some pics in front of a group of young kids in “sailing lessons!” It was like watching water ballet for small one person sail boats – they were all going in circles like on a merry go round with their instructor barking out orders to them over a bull horn…….very fun to watch!

Nancy even gifted me the official Newport Souvenir Tshirt! I’m official now!

Thank you, Quilters By The Sea! Let’s do it again TOMORROW shall we?

  2. I really enjoy your book suggestions! I've downloaded maybe a dozen of them and am on my 5th or 6th one now. I'd had the Kindle for several months before I started really using it thanks to your posts!

  3. Enjoyed those pictures Bonnie! You get to see some of the neatest places :*) By the way, what is your favorite tea for evening time? I have to go caffeine free in the evenings but I love having tea at that time, so I go with an herbal tea.

  6. Love Newport - I grew up in nearby Seekonk, MA - although I live in Texas now. Enjoy your time in beautiful New England. Thanks also for the ocean picture - it's the one thing that I truly miss here in the Southwest!

For Mary: Go into Amazon and download the free app for 'Kindle for iPhone/Ipod'. This is a different app to the free 'Kindle for PC' app. I have both - they 'sync' together whenever I download one of Bonnie's suggestions. Until I get a Kindle, I just read the books on my PC or my iPod. Hope this helps - and Bonnie - I just love your suggestions. Thank you so much. Jenny
