Nola brought sparklers.
We had a moment where all of our inner 3rd graders were let out to play on this beautiful fire pit night.
It didn't matter our age, our ability, where we came from, where we were going - all it meant was that we were all - collectively - instantly - 10 years old and enjoying the magic and beauty of simple sparklers.
Do you remember how sparklers smelled when you were a kid?
I still have a burn mark on one hand from a sparkler in my early teen years. They are safer now - but as always, they don't last near long enough!
The August 2.0 Quiltvillians - roasting up a storm!
This is summer!
Just the right amount of char....LOL!
We've had a delightful weekend of camaraderie, stitching, talking, laughing - and we've watched projects blossom and even reach completion!
Sharon's Blue Ridge Beauty from Adventures With Leaders & Enders went from this -
To this -
And finally to this. Well done!
Tracy's Sugar Grove went from one block -
To covering a design wall corner.
Pumpkins are appearing!
Ducks and Geese are being appliqued down.
Super Cute!
Shoo Fly Shoo Leader & Ender blocks are being made!
Oh, this looks fun!
Half Step by Moda.
On Ringo Lake blocks and Scrappy Trips (Free Patterns tab) in full swing!
Triple Treat also growing here!
These blocks remind me of the webbed lawn chairs from when I was a kid - I didn't get the pattern info. If you have it, please leave a comment in the comments section below.
These are Betty's and I love them!
Quilting Station Still Life -
Love it all!
The "Take a photo of the bathroom wall while dealing with the aftermath of a twisted knee fall" project.
The project that as of yet has no name - but I am well on the way to layout time.
A whole tray full.
1990s and early 2000s fabrics - and I still love them all.
In the mean time - my Oopsie Daisie Leader & Ender blocks have been growing on the side -
They keep me from feeling too inundated with brown. LOL!
How are yours coming?
What an incredible Pattern Release weekend!
There has been such an incredible response to my new PDF pattern for Morning Glories and the Gift-Away entries are going wild!
Did you get your entry in? Visit the Gift-Away post.
The PDF pattern for Morning Glories is currently 25% off through 8/31/23 in both the Quiltville Store and the Quiltville Etsy Pattern Shop.
The finished quilt measures 84'' X 84''.
No coupon code is needed, but if you are purchasing paper or notions and wish to save the 15% you do need to use the code NOTIONS at checkout in the Quiltville Store. The Etsy shop ONLY carries the PDF patterns, not merchandise.
I'll be drawing for TWO winners on Thursday, 8/31/23 and each will receive a Morning Glories PDF pattern from me and a Facets of Green color roll from Cotton to Quilts!
Today:
A group of gals are headed to Wytheville for some quilt shop hopping. Always fun! But we need group photos before they go because Nola and Wanda are both leaving this afternoon while the rest stay until tomorrow.
Gotta catch them all in a group before they go their separate ways!
More sewing for me ahead - and a bit of desk work. Sounds like a great Monday!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
I'm certainly glad I don't have it all figured out. It keeps things interesting!

Well I m done canning for 2023. So satisfying.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gloomy day here today.
I'll go down to my sewing room and get productive.
I was hoping to get Bristol done before the Mystery but it doesn't look like it. Oh well.
Have a Sparkling day 🔆
What did you can? I am just starting I have green beans and carrots in the pressure cooker right now and beets to make inot beet pickles. I am still working on the last mystery and Vintage Farm Girl II and a sew along and...
DeleteI believe this is the link for the batik basket quilt shown above.

The pattern was so fun to make and it's free! Bonnie, I can't wait to see your brown and ivory quilt come together. Very intriguing!
I do a sparkler dance every Fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteLove the Brown and tan blocks. Reminds me of 8th grade outfits that I wore. Sparklers were my favorite. Great job retreaters. We have Smoky skies here today. Darn fire starters along the hwy.
ReplyDeleteI love fireworks, looks like you guys had a blast! The browns are very nice, can’t wait!
ReplyDeleteThere is always so much inspiration on your posts. At least a half dozen quilts I want to make. The brown tile blocks are looking really nice!
ReplyDeleteBonnie I feel like the brown and cream quilt should be called twisted knee. It could be a inside joke that only those of us that follow you would get!
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I'll be canning up some ketchup today and while it's cooking down working on my quatrefoil quilt. Of course everything needs to be straightened up tonight because my niece is coming over tomorrow and wants to make a squish mellow (I had to look it up, wish me luck). Last year we made a pillowcase and she fell in love with the sewing machine so I'm branching out to new projects to foster her love of the sewing machine
Maybe call your brown and cream quilt 'Twisted Knee'.. Cheryl M.
ReplyDeleteYour tan and brown blocks look like the s’mores you all were creating. Great block. 💜
ReplyDeleteThe sparklers were a cute way to start! The fire pit always looks like a fun time. The group has certainly been busy this weekend! It wasn't too bad for a Monday.... we'll see how tomorrow goes. I wish I had seen the purple rail fence before I started September Sky!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post, as always! The half-step quilt pattern (purple rectangular log cabin style quilt by Moda) caught my eye, so I wanted to share the link -- it's a free pattern, hooray! https://modafabrics.com/webfiles/PJR2023_HalfStep.pdf
ReplyDeleteThank you Bonnie for all your hosting and reporting and sharing your creativity and sparkler joy!
