I arrived at Quiltville Inn on Sunday morning to find Jessica, Chiquita, and Karen in the Kitchen whipping up a fabulous Sunday brunch fare - There is no way anyone goes hungry on retreat!
Just look at these beautiful ladies - who wouldn't want them in their circle of friends? I cherish each and every one of them.
It was a bit of a stormy weekend, either high humidity, or torrential downpours that made eating out on the porch not such a great idea - and that's okay.
Brunch can happen inside, too!
And those matching shirts? I got one too! Stitch Mob retreat 2023 at Quiltville Inn. Fantastic - around here it's Quilt Wear, all the time. Just the way I like it.
Jessica is a fabulous mentor and we arranged these charm squares to perfection so that Karen could learn the ropes of sewing things together. Making rows. Pressing seams. Nesting seams. Adding boarders.
I think we've hooked her good!
Karen's Double Delight is on the design wall and coming together.
The pattern is found where old mysteries live at the bottom of the Free Patterns tab.
So many pieces to put together!
And Presto! Something is ready to go over the rail!
Borders will come when she returns home to the stash.
Halloween is in full swing over here. Cute runners!
And another from leftover Grand Illusion blocks. Fun!
Hey! Has anyone seen my phone charger cord? I can't seem to find it anywhere?! LOL!
But just look at the glorious Shattered! blocks coming out of that pile! (She'll find her cord eventually! Ha!)
Jared Takes a Wife blocks from the Free Patterns tab are coming together. I love that dark teal!
And when sashing is added - YES!
Jessica has simplified her Roll Roll Cotton Boll from String Fling to use red sashings around her blocks instead of the multitude of half-square triangles. This is a FINE idea - if yours is still a UFO you might consider the same. Just get it done.
Borders will be finished when she gets home and has room to lay everything out. But just look at that pieced border coming together. Yummy!
Up next for Jessica -
Check out her Chilhowie blocks in Civil War repros. They are gorgeous.
Micheclle's Celtic Solstice is growing on another wall. These autumn oranges have grabbed me!
More Garlic Knots are up on this wall as well.
I'm loving this color theme!
Scrappy Mountain Majesties blocks from the Free Patterns tab are the next project up on this wall.
And evidently the other side of the room has the same plan!
Once Karen had taken her Double Delight blocks down, she set right in on her Catching Rainbows blocks. I love these!
Chiquita brought her beautiful African batiks to create something wonderful - this is just the beginning of something grand and I can't wait to see what she turns it into.
The Stitch Mob in all of their glory -
Such a fun group of gals.
I am so honored to count these ladies as friends.
Yesterday was a whirlwind of activity as the Stitch Mob packed all of their goodies and headed out toward their overnight stay in Paducah before making their way home to Missouri and beyond today.
Laundry commenced. Always. LOL!
And then this. Poor Tula.
I didn't feed her her breakfast until noon so I would be sure she was good and hungry and would eat from the bowl placed inside her crate so I could close the door and taker her to the vet.
But she knows. SHE KNOWS. She is a sneaky one and fast as lightning. I couldn't shut that door fast enough and barely was able to wrestle her in there which I am sure did not help the situation.
But get to the vet we did. X-rays show that she is now about 75% healed from her osteomyelitis (bone infection) and we continue on.
I've got help to administer her meds while I am gone to Poland and Italy.
Isn't it crazy that the one thing I'm worried about most while I'm gone is that this cat is taken care of?
I don't know how you spend your anniversary night - but this was mine. I needed it. And by 9pm I was done and in bed. What a long day.

And never take for granted the people who travel the journey with you.
Thank you for walking this journey with me.
Tula is so very lucky to have found y'all when she was 'shopping' for a home! and yep, she KNOWS when you're gonna stuff her in that box and take her for ride... lucky girl... 75% healed... if it wasn't for you, she would have perished!!! and I do not think it's "silly" to be concerned about her and the myriad of other items while you are on tour!!! I am constantly amazed by your ability to keep all those "balls in the air" !!! I so so love silk road and am thinking if i could only do one more quilt (not that ALL are done) I would choose tht one, I love the warmt and comfort when brown is the dominant color, and all the others are allowed to sparkle in between and what a celebraation of quilting the way you made up the blocks! sigh... enjoy your travels and we will love seeing your posts, God Bless, Cats in Carlsbad CA -- PS: I tried to register using the usual Google but it just didn't work this time.... doncha love/hate technology!? xo xo
ReplyDeleteYou had asked about the spray bottle and thread catchers that Bonnie has at each station. Don’t know if you ever got an answer, but I ran across the name today: Gypsy Quilter Sensational Sip & Snip 2.0
DeleteWhat fun to be had at Quiltville! I love the Stitch Mob t-shirts! Everyone looked like they were having so much fun and were so productive. Poor Tula but she knows you are only doing the best for her. Safe travels Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteYou must have a huge collection of quilty T-shirts. They are all so special. I want to make all of the quilts in the blog today. They are so inspiring. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
ReplyDeleteSo much inspiration in today's post! I know that look Tula is giving you. Our kitty, Bella, has the same look every time she needs to visit the Dr., too. You are so good to your fur babies. I am glad to hear that her care is being seen to in your absence. I wouldn't expect any less.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I agree with Kathy and Cats, the Stitch Mob gals are creative beyond words…their quilts are gorgeous and I bet their food delicious! Love, love their t-shirts and comradery!
